TOTORO, LYNNIE B. (CAROL LYNNE) Age 76, resident of Ohio and Albuquerque, NM, went to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on September 29, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy and husband Vince Dick; grandchildren, Casey and Madeline; her daughter, Amy and husband Mike Walla; grandchildren, Max and Stephanie and husband Ryan Stevens and great-grandchildren, Marcus, Connor and Hallie, all of Albuquerque. Lynnie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Martha Bettner, her husband, Ed Totoro, and their beloved daughter, Sallie Totoro in 1969. Lynnie was born December 4, 1936 in Lakewood, OH. She graduated from Lakewood HS in 1955. Lynnie was a lifelong baseball fan, and played catcher for her high school baseball team. She was crowned Miss Lakewood 1955. She attended Baldwin Wallace College where she met the love of her life, Ed Totoro of Atlantic City, NJ. They were wed in 1957, and were proud parents of three girls. Lynnie delighted in her children and in her neighborhood; giving back, contributing and encouraging those around her. She was always surrounded by friends and neighborhood kids; people flocked to her house to enjoy her cooking, her sense of humor, and the wisdom only Lynnie had. After the family moved to Albuquerque in 1970, Lynnie worked with the Welcome Wagon of Albuquerque, worked for a local pediatrician, and volunteered in her new community. She graduated from the University of Albuquerque in 1976 with a nursing degree. She was an RN and enjoyed being an Oncology nurse. She loved what she did; it was very dear to her. Lynnie adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and with Ed, was always there in the front row, rain or shine. In retirement, Lynnie was a writer and won an award at the Southwest Writers Workshop for a young adult novel she co-authored. She had a servant's heart, and volunteered at the food pantry, the senior center, read for the NM Commission for the Blind, helped at a reading program for children and adopted rescue dogs. Recently, she was very involved in her retirement community, writing pieces for their newsletter, giving rides and cooking wonderful St. Patrick's Day dinners. Lynnie was an inspiration to all, a mother and grandmother to many, and made friends wherever she went. Through her faith in Jesus and her actions inspired by the Holy Spirit, she made a difference in innumerable lives. She leaves behind a myriad of dear friends, and joins many as well. She once wrote, "Remember me with: A shake of your head, a hearty chuckle, and a song in your heart!" We certainly will! Please join us in celebrating a remarkable woman and her eternal life with Christ. Services will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation, www.clf4kids.org.
