Hawkins -- Mildred Timm Hawkins, born August 9, 1918 in San Francisco, CA, has passed away on September 15, 2000 in Albuquerque. She grew up in San Francisco, daughter to George and Anna Timm, and sister of Paul Martin Timm. She once said that December 4, 1943 was the happiest day of her life because she married her one and only love, Joseph Samuel Hawkins, at the Post Chapel at the Presidio in San Francisco. They moved to Roswell in 1943, and subsequently to Ruidoso in 1949, where they owned and operated the Ruidoso Gas Company until 1966. In 1966, they moved again to Albuquerque. Her son, Timothy John, his wife, Mary, her son, Joseph Martin, and his wife, Carol survive her. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Thomas Hawkins, Robert Hawkins, Elizabeth Hawkins and Paul Hawkins. Her husband, Joseph Samuel; her daughters, Dorothy Jane, and Joanna Lee, preceded her in death. Hers was a love of family and friends, never forgetting to send a timely birthday card, and for some that meant 50 plus years. She loved blue skies of New Mexico, cooking, entertaining, sewing, robins, roses, songs from the 40s, chocolate milkshakes, fried zucchini, and her little dog named Annie. Most of all she loved life. Hers was a gift of an enduring sense of humor, an abiding personal strength, and a commitment to family and friends. All will miss her wonderful smile and her beautiful blue eyes. We will love you"forever and a day." Visitation for Mildred Timm Hawkins will be held at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 19.
