WIRTH -- Janet Marie (Jan) Wirth, peacefully passed away in Peralta on Thursday, January 18, 2007. Born in Columbus, OH on April 7, 1919, she married Robert (Bob) Wirth on August 6, 1943, and moved to New York City where she worked as a secretary until 1950, when the couple moved to Albuquerque. Shortly after their move to New Mexico, Jan began a new career which gave her great joy-that of a loving mother. Jan and her brother, John Holdson, ran Rio Valley Greenhouse in Albuquerque's South Valley for many years. In the 1980s, her husband Bob opened a law practice in Los Lunas and began developing real estate in Valencia County. As always, Jan actively participated in those ventures. Jan lived in the family home in the Los Altos neighborhood of Albuquerque for more than 55 years. Her dearest friends were her loving neighbors. The glow of the luminaries on Christmas Eve was her favorite sight and for decades when friends and family came to see the lights, she graciously welcomed them into her home on that night to celebrate the season. In 2006, when living alone became more difficult, she moved to her daughter's home in Peralta. Jan loved the peace, tranquility and beauty of the Jemez Mountains and was an avid fisherman. She was a gifted potter who generously shared her creations with her many friends and family members. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a devoted friend, and a friendly and helpful neighbor. She will be greatly missed. Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert Wirth; her mother and father, Alice and Charles Walter Holdson; sister, Ruth Waller; and brothers, David and John Holdson. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Dumas and Deborah Wirth-Schneider; son-in-law, Ken Schneider; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to El Ranchito de Los Ninos, a long term children's ranch dedicated to keeping siblings together when they cannot be with their families, P.O. Box 2400, Los Lunas, NM 87031. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
