Fadgen -- William A."Bill" Fadgen, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Fadgen of Albuquerque; one son, William A. Fadgen Jr. and wife, Teryl of Albuquerque; three daughters, Pat Romero and husband, Daniel, Becky Whitlock and husband, Bud, and Mary Schaller and husband, Brett, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Brian, Chris, Thomas, Colleen, Brandon, Courtney and Scott; one great-grandchild, Avery; one sister, Roberta A. Kelly of Homestead, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. The youngest of five children, Mr. Fadgen was born July 7, 1933 in Providence, RI to Edward and Sarah Fadgen, where he also attended school. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War and Berlin Crisis. He retired as a Major after 22 years. He married Betsy Jowett in Sanford, MN in 1951. After retirement, Mr. Fadgen came to Albuquerque and founded Bill's Lock and Key, Inc. in 1979. He was one of New Mexico's first Certified Master Locksmiths and a lifemember of N.M.L.A. Mr. Fadgen was also a member of Temple Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M. and Ballut Abyad Shrine. Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 3, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Father James McGowan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Scherffius -- Mildred"Oma" Scherffius, 94, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on February 23, 2003. Preceded in death by John, her husband of 53 years. Beloved mother of Shirley Zaluga and husband, Dick, Mary McFadden and husband, Tom, John L. and Edward F. Scherffius; loving grandmother to John and Robin Zaluga, Jill and Alan Herman, Darlene and Jim Arnott and James and Kady Scherffius; great-grandmother to Heather, Holly, Zach, Eliahs, Hanna, Amy, Ruby, Joshua, Jesse and Zachary. Interment has taken place in West Dundee, IL. Many thanks to the wonderful people at Presbyterian Hospice.

Schmidly -- Rose Marie Schmidly passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque Tuesday, February 25, 2003. Rose was born October 20, 1927 in Brownwood, TX and grew up in Fort Worth, where she married James Schmidly Jr. in 1946. She has been a resident of New Mexico since 1969. She was preceded by her husband in death and is survived by son, James Schmidly III and wife Dawn; daughter, Kristy Fink and husband Charles; daughter, Claudia Broadwater and husband David, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Tammy Elkins and husband Jerry of Portland, OR, Bonnie Fink of Seattle, WA, and Jennifer Sanchez and husband Ricky of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Rhiannon Elkins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1st, 1:30 p.m., at Southwest Heights Church, 9800 Benavides Rd. SW. Warren -- Autry L. Warren, MSgt. (ret.), passed February 22, 2003 at his Atlanta, GA home while recuperating from heart surgery. Born in Vanndale, Arkansas on July 31, 1931, he was the son of Minter and Queen Warren (both deceased). Autry enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 17 and served in the military for 23 distinguished years with overseas tours of duty in South Korea, Japan, France, and Thailand. Autry professed his faith in Christ at an early age. Growing up as the son of a sharecropper, he learned the importance of moral fortitude, hard work, and education. During his walk of life he was committed to God and his family. Autry met Nora Frances Collins of Wynne, Arkansas, and on January 23, 1955 the two were united in marriage. Prior to moving to Atlanta in 2001, Autry and Nora were longtime residents of Albuquerque, NM where he retired from the military in 1973. He earned an Associate Business Degree in Accounting in 1974. He also began a second career at Sandia Laboratories. Over the years Autry and Nora established deep and lasting ties with friends and neighbors. They attended Kirtland Air Force Base Chapel where Autry served as an usher. Together Autry and Nora raised four children, stressing education as one of the cornerstones of success. Autry was proud to see his children receive degrees from the University of New Mexico, Harvard University, the University of California at Berkeley, and Stanford University. He was perhaps prouder to see all of his children raise families of their own. Autry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nora Frances Collins Warren; his four children and their spouses, Autry (Stephanie) L. Warren, Jr., Kenneth (Maria) Warren, Diann (Carl) McCants, and Lynnae (Iilonga) Thandiwe; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ms. Iola Sargent of Thibodeaux, LA; his brother, James (Carrie) Warren of Fountain, CO; his sister-in-law, Ann (Clifford) Grice of Richmond, CA; his sister-in-law, Anna Warren Anderson of Wynne, AR, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Autry was a man of calm, good will, and generosity. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Services will be February 28, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Cascade United Methodist Church, 3144 Cascade Road, SW, Atlanta, GA. Meinen -- Dena Jane Meinen, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1969, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2003. Dena was born January 16, 1920 the daughter of Noah Douglas and Lydia Florence Robins Byrd in Oakdale, Tennessee. Dena had been a waitress before retiring and spending time with her husband, Albert. Dena and Albert came to New Mexico from Toledo, Ohio. Dena was preceded in death byťtwo brothers, James and Lawrence Lee Byrd; and two sisters, Reba Headrick and Lois Ruth Smith. She is survived by her husband of 50 years,ťAlbert of Rio Rancho; one son, Charles Fredrick Meinen of Montreal, Canada; one sister, Nora Lou McKee and husband, James of Wedron, IL; and three brothers, Ernest Byrd and wife, Ada of Clinton, TN, Noah David Byrd and wife, Beulah of Harriman, TN, andťHenry Paul Byrd and wife, Mary of Oakdale, TN; sister-in-law, Ruth Renager of Toledo, OH; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Mora -- Oracio Mora, age 75, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003. He was born in Cuba, NM, and raised in Bernalillo, NM, where he resided. Oracio was a Veteran, having served in the Army, Army Air Corps, and US Air Force during and following WWII. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eufelia; and two daughters, Gloria and Rita. Oracio is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Corina; son, Martin H. Acosta and wife, Lucille; three sisters, Ruby Valencia, Hoby Griego, and Veva Baldonado; three brothers, Frank Mora, Andrew Mora and wife, Margaret, Henry Mora and wife, Gloria; Seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2003. Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 28, 2003, with burial following at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Cole -- Jack R. Cole, 72, passed away at Sierra Health Care Center on February 21, 2003. He was born in McNary, Texas to James Frank Cole and Orcha Matilda (Smith) Cole on December 6, 1930. Mr. Cole was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Korean War. He was retired as a Sales Manager with the company which produces LifeSaver Candies. A resident of Truth or Consequences since 1999, Mr. Cole was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he had taught the Jolly Elders Sunday School Class and had sung in the Gospel Choir and the Barber Shop Quartet. He leaves behind his loving wife, Joyce S. Cole of the family home in TorC, NM; a son, Jack R. Cole and wife, Debbie of Rio Rancho, NM; daughters, Carol Cole and husband, Rich Gerrilis of Albuquerque, NM, Sherrie Conner of Chandler, AZ, Tylithia and husband, Terry Paden of Albuquerque, NM;"daughter of the heart", Karen Henry of Grants, NM; his step-children, Sandra Guthrie of Scottsdale, AZ, W. Allen and wife, Christine Strickland of Albuquerque, NM, Leslie and husband, Oscar Reyes of El Paso, TX; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. a the First Baptist Church (TorC) with Rev. Shon A. Wagner officiating. Keller -- Helen M. Keller, 84, died at her home on February 24, 2003. She was born June 9, 1918 in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1957. She is survived by her daughter, Edith Kane of Albuquerque; sons, Robert Keller and wife, Rita of Albuquerque, Michael and wife, Marilyn of Plano, Texas; daughter, Sheila McGee and husband, Michael of Huffman, TX; brother, Richard A. Rawe of Huntington Beach, California; grandchildren, Patrick, Todd and Shannon Kane, Chris and Ryan Keller, Kevin, Brian and Paul McGee; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Herbert T. Keller and their infant son, James Anthony Keller. Before her retirement at age 81, Helen served as Executive Secretary at St. Bernadette Catholic Church and was Managing Editor and Family Page columnist for the Archdiocesan newspaper, People of God. She was active in Democratic politics and a candidate for State Representative, District 14 in 1966. Ms. Keller was also past President of the Sando Chapter of the Albuquerque Business Women's Association. Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 27, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
