CHAVEZ, THEODORE (TED) G. age 86, born in San Marcial, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, following a long and valiant struggle with cancer. Mr. Chavez is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Marcella (Gonzales) Chavez; children, David Chavez Jr. and wife, Sheila, Elizabeth J. Carson and husband, Gary, Barbara Montano and companion, Fred Teupell, Diana Martinez and husband, Ralph, Linda Salazar and husband, Joseph, Richard Chavez Sr. and wife, Lucia; sisters, Gloria, Rita, and Isabel; brothers, Jake, Max, Pete, and Gene; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Chavez was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Chavez was born and raised in Southern New Mexico, the son of Antonio and Miquela Chavez. He would eventually work and retire from the Federal Bureau of Reclamation. Mr. Chavez graduated from the first Volunteer Officer Program of the Albuquerque Police Department and was quite proud of this accomplishment. He met his wife, Marcella in Albuquerque when they were teenagers and they were married in 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Chavez had a passion for music and was a fairly accomplished self-taught guitar player. In his early years he enjoyed playing the guitar at family gatherings to the accompaniment of a cousin's accordion and a friend's guitar. Their favorite rendition of "You Are My Sunshine: was usually on the schedule. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. Final visitation will be Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A Committal Service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Pallbearers will be David Chavez, Rick Chavez, Davey Chavez, Nicholas Chavez, Joe Salazar, and Gary Carson. MACKARON, AGNES JANE of Albuquerque, passed away, Thursday, January 29, 2015. She is survived by her sister, Bertha Sahd-DeLuca, and her three sons; Richard MacKaron, Phil MacKaron and Dr. Mel MacKaron. Agnes is also survived by her grandchildren; Erissa MacKaron, Nick MacKaron, Russ MacKaron and Geoff MacKaron as well as other loving family members and friends. She was happily married for over 52 years to Philip R. MacKaron who passed in 2000. Agnes was born in Cerrillos and grew up in Taos in a family of Lebanese immigrants. After a career as an Air Force spouse, she retired with Phil to Albuquerque in 1968. Agnes loved family, traveling and giving. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 3, at 7:00 pm at FRENCH - Wyoming, Friends may visit beginning at 6:00 pm prior to the rosary. Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. STERNE, BRYCE WARE Bryce (Ware) Sterne, 72, Rio Rancho, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, January 23, 2015 after a brief illness. Born September 23, 1942 in Amarillo, TX, he grew up in Severance, KS and lived in St. Joseph, MO, Davenport, IA, Indianapolis, IN and Toledo, OH. He moved to NM in 1986 establishing a Dr. Vinyl franchise in Albuquerque / Rio Rancho with his son, Douglas. Ware was a man that was passionate about golf and his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, crafting many beautiful items for friends and family. Surviving are his sons, Douglas Detwieler and wife Tami, Rio Rancho, NM; son, Dean Sterne, Tempe AZ; brother Kenneth Sterne and wife Judith, Alexandria VA; grandson, Jared Detwieler; granddaughter, Kaitlin Smith and husband, Matthew, Rio Rancho, NM; two great-granddaughters, Chyanne Bicknell and Tagan Smith; aunt, Phyllis Rumsey, Maryville, MO; cousins, Charlie Ware of Maryville, MO, Cynthia Grooms, Kansas City, MO, Barbara Collins, Highland, KS, and Karen Musselman, Arvada, CO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean (Ware) Sterne and father Jack Bryce Sterne. A memorial will be held in the banquet room at the Prairie Star Restaurant (Santa Ana Golf Club) in Bernalillo, NM, on Saturday, February 14th at 10:00 am.
