BRANNON, LUCY MITCHELL age 107, was born on November 6, 1907 in Ojo Feliz, New Mexico to William & Julia Mitchell and passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014. She is survived by three daughters, Eloisa Nieto (Arthur), Julia King and Ida Gallegos (Phillip); many grandchildren whom she loved dearly as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Lucy was a very generous, loving and beautiful lady. A devoted Catholic, she volunteered at church and nursing homes until her 90's. Services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW on Saturday, December 27, 2014. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Julian Mullins, Daniel Garcia, Paul Nieto, Matt Gallegos, Michael Romero, Ryan Nieto, Steven Garcia and Dennis Aragon. CHAVEZ-WOOLSEY, MARY HELEN Passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2014 at the age of 46. With profound sadness, our beloved Mary Helen will be missed for her beautiful smile, her sense of humor, her great love for animals and especially her friendship. Mary Helen is survived by her spouse, Jeremy Woolsey; her sons Daniel Perea Jr., James Perea and Jose Perea; and four grandsons. Also left to cherish her memory are her mother, Imogene Chavez; sister Renee Chavez; and one niece Hope Chavez. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Chavez, on January 7, 2014. A life celebration will be held at the Revelation Church, 8818 2nd St NW, Albq, (info: 400-4242 or 897-1717) on Saturday December 27, 2014, 11:30 a.m. Her ashes will be laid to rest in Cuervo, New Mexico next to her beloved father Joe Chavez and grandparents, Alfonso & Lucy Chavez. FOX, ROGER D. Our beloved Roger, age 60, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2014 after battling brain cancer for several months. He is survived by his parents, Ron and June Fox of Albuquerque; his sister, Rhonda Fox, of Albuquerque, and numerous other family members and friends. Roger had been a music aficionado since the age of two. He enjoyed creative writing first and foremost in his life, especially after graduating from the University of Albuquerque with a BA in English, and had published a book of poetry. His writings have been included in several anthologies and he has won many awards for his poetry. Roger was a member of Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church. His religious beliefs and church attendance were high priorities to him, as was his church family. A Memorial Service and reception will be Saturday, January 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church, 7001 San Antonio NE in the Vista Del Norte strip mall, NE corner of San Antonio and Louisiana, with the Reverend Harold Johnson officiating. GRAB, JOYCE K. Joyce Grab, age 75, passed away, Sunday 12/21/14 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born February 7, 1939 in Belleville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Ruth Knapp, sister Rosalee (Mickey) Hitchings and brother Ronald Knapp. She is survived by Donald Grab, daughter Nancy Ocksrider (Jon); grandsons David, Jon James (Shiree) of Albuquerque; son David (Giovanna); grandsons Rafael and Paulo Grab of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by siblings; Leland (Mary) Knapp, David (Patricia) Knapp and Harry (Sherri) Knapp, all of Illinois. Ms.Grab was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. A celebration of her life, memorial service, and family reunion will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church on her birthday in February. KERSCHEN, MARTHA M. Martha Kerschen was called to heaven on December 21, 2014 with her extended family at her bedside. Martha was preceded in death by her grandson Kyle and brothers James and John Jesko. She is survived by her sister Gwen Hacker of Hereford, Texas, daughter Rosemary and Mike Dunivan of Albuquerque, sons Ed Kerschen and Lisa Wolfe of Tucson, Arizona, Tom and Diane of Albuquerque, Bill and Kim of Albuquerque, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Martha was born at home to Ed and Rosalie Jesko on their farm in Palmer County, Texas in 1929. She is a graduate of Muleshoe High School and majored in music at Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas. She married Bob Kerschen in Hereford Texas in 1948. They moved to Stanley, NM in 1953 and to Albuquerque in 1957. She used her musical talent as an organist at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church for 50 years and as a piano teacher. Her students, including her children to great-grandchildren, enjoyed her patient and loving instruction. Despite being partially paralyzed from polio in 1955, nothing was too hard for her to take on for her children. There could not have been a more loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in all of God's great creation. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, December 26th at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd N.E. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 27th at lO a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church, 5310 Claremont Ave N.E. Interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. MARTINEZ, HENRIETTA AGNES Henrietta Agnes Martinez, age 85, our beloved mother, sister, and friend passed away on December 21, 2014 at her home. Henrietta was born July 31, 1929 in Albuquerque to Anita Springer Perea and Gabino (GG) Perea, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joe R. Martinez. She is survived by her sisters, Angeline P. Black of Goodyear, AZ formerly of Albuquerque, Rosalie D. Perea of Albuquerque, her adopted sister, Sandi O'Neal of Albuquerque, and her loving caregiver Belia Parra. She is also survived by all four of her children, Sandra M. Martinez and her husband, John R. Van Ness of Bethesda, MD, Robert J Martinez and his wife, Kathleen McCleery of Corrales, NM, David B. Martinez and his wife, Kimberley J. Martinez of Albuquerque, and Jo Anne Martinez-Kilgore and her husband, Charles Kilgore of Albuquerque. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jason M. Martinez, Kellen M. Martinez, Alejandro Rettig y Martinez, Elena M. Martinez, Madelaine M. Martinez, Santiago Van Ness Martinez, Ana C. Kilgore and Fiona J. Kilgore; and two step grandchildren, Heather Van Ness and Hilary Westdijk, their husbands and their four children. Henrietta graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico where she met her future husband, Joe. She was a dynamic person who brought energy, passion and knowledge to all that she did. She organized Harpers Bazaars at the Albuquerque Academy and fundraisers for Casa Angelica. She assisted with her husband's construction business and was a wonderful caregiver to him. She launched a career as a personnel consultant at the age of 49 and eventually founded her own business, Henrietta Martinez Personnel Services. She loved her service with the San Felipe De Neri Parish, with a DOVES group and serving on the Liturgy Committee as Hospitality Coordinator and with Art and Environment. She loved all her family, her children, her grandchildren, her numerous godchildren, her many nieces and nephews, and her many dear friends and was devoted to them to the end. A woman of courage, resilience, compassion, and grace, her presence on earth will be missed greatly by her children, larger family, many friends, and the community she served and loved so much. Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe De Neri Church, 2005 N. Plaza NW. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church with internment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. MILLER, JACK LAWRENCE In his own words, "Jack Lawrence Miller, age 88, was born August 13, 1926 and lived until the day he died November 22, 2014. Amen." He began his lifelong love of music taking violin lessons and singing as a boy soprano in church. He was drafted and served in the U. S. Army in the first occupation forces in Germany just as WWII was coming to an end. Jack studied music and violin at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston graduating with the class of 1951, then on to graduate school at Boston University with an emphasis on conducting. He taught, played and conducted music throughout his career that spanned over 45 years and multiple states including MA, WY, NY, OR and ND where he completed his career in 1991 as the Assistant Dean of the Fine Arts College at the University of North Dakota where he taught for twenty years and served as musical director and conductor for the UND Chamber Orchestra and the Greater Grand Forks Symphony for many years. After retirement UND awarded Jack Professor Emeritus. He and his wife, Virginia, moved to Santa Fe in 1992 where he continued to share his love of music playing violin and viola in regional symphonies and chamber groups. Jack L. Miller is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia J. Miller; daughter, Barbara; two sons, Donald and Kenneth; his brother, Luther; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Jack L. Miller on December 27, 2014 from 2 to 4pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Santa Fe, 107 West Barcelona Rd. ROYBAL JIMENEZ, GLORIA Gloria Roybal Jimenez, entered into Eternal peace on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 after a battle with cancer. Gloria was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others, and a willingness to extend a helping hand. Gloria was born on December 28, 1961, the loving daughter of Yolanda and the late Paul Roybal of Santa Fe, NM. She graduated from Santa Fe High School and Bryman Medical School in San Francisco, CA; and worked as an Orthopedic Technician. Gloria was a Eucharist Minister to the homebound at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Gloria is survived by her spouse, Mark Jimenez; two sons, Gabriel and Gregory. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving family, sisters, Pauline Romero husband Joe, Patricia Briggs husband Paul; brothers, Paul Roybal wife Roberta, Leonard Roybal wife Bernadette; and adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and granddaughter Liliana.
