ARCHIBEQUE, JOE L., SR. Joe L. Archibeque, Sr., 79, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorenza Archibeque; sons, Manuel Archibeque and wife, Esther and Albert Archibeque and wife, Christine; daughters, Lorie Olivarez and husband, Tony, Nancy Armijo and husband, Ralph, Emily Archibeque, Anna Gonzales and husband, Carl, and Mary Vandecar and husband, Paul; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and two future great-great-grandchildren en route; brothers, Julio, Lizardo, and Greg Archibeque; and his sister, Ruth MacGraff. Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joey Archibeque, Jr. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Edwin's Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona Road SW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. BADSGARD, WAYNE A. Age 86, passed away on December 8, 2014 in Albuquerque. Born on October 11, 1928 in Raton, New Mexico to parents, Marguerite Jacques and Arnold Badsgard. Survivors include his beloved wife of 38 years, Jean Badsgard; son, Richard and wife, Sandy Badsgard of Sun City, Arizona; two grandsons, Ryan and Randy Badsgard, their wives and their four sons of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Deborah L. Badsgard of Albuquerque and Farmington, NM; brother, Chuck Badsgard and wife, Pat of Farmington, NM; sisters, Lucille Mehas, Mary Alice Sietz, and Judy Miller all residing in the Dallas, TX area; step-children, Lewis Ankeny and wife, Susie of Bristol, TN, Michael C. Ankeny and wife, Chandra; Marsha Leatherwood and husband, Allan and five step grandchildren all living in the Albuquerque area. Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth W. Badsgard and step-daughter, Lee Ann Ankeny Fudge. He served his country for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He returned to New Mexico and earned degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from UNM. After 30 years of service he retired from Public Service Company of New Mexico as Division Vice-President. He was very active in Civic Affairs and his many positions included President of the Belen Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, Santa Fe United Way, and Albuquerque Utility Council. He was an avid golfer and served for 10 years as an officer of the Los Altos Golf Association. He was an active member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church. BALISTRERE, CHARLES "CHAS" R. Charles "Chas" R. Balistrere of Albuquerque, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Holly Balistrere; his sister, Rosalie Ianaro of Ohio; as well as other nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. During life, Chas loved music, dancing, friends and traveling the world with his wife. They shared their love of dancing by both serving as instructors at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio as well as conducting private dance lessons. He had also belonged to the Coronado Club and the Officer's Club where he and Holly spent time socializing with friends. Chas spent 30 years during his career working at Sandia National Labs. A Rosary will be recited Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow. GRANT, PHILIP R. "BOB" JR. Philip R. (Bob) Grant, Jr. was born on April 23, 1930 in Evanston, IL. His love affair with New Mexico began when he moved to Santa Fe while in high school. Bob graduated from UNM in 1951 with a degree in geology and after a stint with the Army in the Korean War, worked for Sinclair Oil for many years. Not wanting to leave New Mexico after Sinclair transferred him to Albuquerque in 1962, Bob began his second career as a realtor, owning and operating Ackerman-Grant Realty. Eventually, he was able to return to geology and became a well-known and respected expert on New Mexico water and energy issues. Bob was deeply involved in New Mexico politics and Albuquerque community affairs and served on the boards of many local groups and foundations. He also served in the New Mexico state legislature from 1972-1978 and was very active in the Rotary Club, receiving their Living Legend award in 2008. A health setback in 2013 necessitated a move to Colorado Springs where he died on December 4, 2014. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Min. He is survived by a sister, Noel Wood of New London, NH; three daughters, Cindy Aguilar (Erwin) of Colorado Springs, CO, Christie Bryant (Dave Garcia) of Denver, CO, and Tracy Glatzmaier (Gary) of Soquel, CA; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the UNM Cancer Center, the Albuquerque Rotary Club or the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches. There will be a celebration of his life on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 2-5 pm at the Hotel Albuquerque. Any additional details will be available at www.cappadonafh.com

MONTOYA, MARGARET E. WARDER Our beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away November 5, 2014 in Dallas, Texas after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. She was born in her hometown of Albuquerque, NM on August 19, 1954. With profound sadness, she will be missed for the loving, kind, thoughtful, patient, attentive care she gave to her family; her sense of humor, creativity, beautiful home and home cooked meals; but especially as a cherished companion. As a devoted home maker and grandma, she also had three successful careers as a Ballet/Dance instructor, PRN general-nursing/ Doctor's Assistant, and ran her own business, "Lunches To You". She loved to travel with her family all over the world but especially loved to come home to New Mexico and visit Hawaii, where she and her husband lived during his service with the U.S. Marine Corps. Margaret battled the lung cancer that took her life with silent dignity and remarkable fortitude. She is survived by her mother Betty Warder; husband of 44 years, AB Montoya; children, daughter Audrey Daniel, and son Adam Montoya; grandchildren Hayden, Macy, and Maggie: siblings Susan, Rebecca, Emily, Alice, Benita, Tom; brothers-in-law Joel Mebust, Orlando Montoya and wife Kathy; and many nieces and nephews.

SHILOFF, SYLVIA Age 57, went home on Monday, December 8, 2014. She is survived by loving husband of 31 years, Bryan Shiloff; sons, Saunders Shiloff and Forrest Shiloff; father, Fernando Aguilar; and brother, Ernest Aguilar. She was preceded in death by her mother, Amelia Aguilar; and sister, Linda Aguilar. Sylvia obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a gifted artist and a screenwriter. She devoted her professional life to helping people as a case manager. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 12:00 noon at FRENCH - Wyoming. THORNTON, MARY ELAINE Age 64, of Cedar Crest, NM, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her daughter Tabor Yates; granddaughter Alyssa Yates; sister Leigh Ludington; Leigh's husband Wayne and their family of three children; and her brother Mark Thornton. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joan and Al Thornton. Mary was born on September 21, 1950. She graduated from Sandia High School and then from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Psychology. She relocated to Cedar Crest, NM dedicating much of her life to the art she loved. Also known as Big Mary, she was often seen in Albuquerque's Old Town Plaza selling her art. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at her home in Cedar Crest at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2014. A pot luck meal will be served. The home is located at 312 Frost Rd. in Cedar Crest, NM.
