ALBRIGHT, CARL H. Lt. Col. Carl H. Albright USAF (ret.) died on September 7, 2014 at his home in Albuquerque after an extended illness. He died peacefully sitting on his back porch looking at his flower garden. He was the third child of Charles and Lillie Albright - born at home in Springfield, Illinois on March 1, 1921. His brothers and sisters, Charles, Ruth Stoops, Vernon, Marguerite Taylor and Dorothy Harper, preceded him in death, as did his parents. Carl and all of his siblings had newspaper routes with the Illinois State Journal Register as they grew up. Carl wed Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Howard in 1943 and a short time later left Western Illinois University to enlist in the Army Air Corps. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt., trained to fly B-24s, and was soon in England, assigned to the 8th Air Force's 446th Bomb Group. He and his crew flew 35 successful missions to disrupt the Third Reich. After the war, Carl finished his BA and MA degrees. He then joined the new United States Air Force, where he worked as a nuclear chemist and pilot until his retirement in 1969. He then went to work as a chemist for the state of Illinois before his final retirement to Albuquerque in 1981. Carl was active in the Albuquerque community. He volunteered for many years, working with a number of organizations including The Gray Gladiators, AARP, NM Department of Corrections and the 8th AF Group. Carl was married for 58 years to Liz, who died in 2001. He is survived by three children and their spouses, Carl F. "Rick" and LaWanda Albright of Tijeras NM, Col.Wayne H. Albright (ret.) and Geraldine "Geri" Albright of Phoenix AZ, Carla Furry and Sr. Master Sgt. (ret.) Roger Furry of Albuquerque, NM. In addition, there are seven grandchildren, Tracy Pater of VA, Heather Leiby of San Antonio TX, Vanessa Helton of Edgewood NM, Jeremy Albright of The Dominican Republic, Ryan Furry of Albuquerque, NM, Charlene Andrusyszyn of Aurora, CO, Scott Albright of Albuquerque, NM; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at FRENCH - University, 1111 University Blvd. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at FRENCH - University. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, where Carl will receive full military honors. Please feel free to donate to your favorite charity in Carl's name in lieu of flowers. Carl had a twinkle in his eye that spoke of mischief, a great sense of humor and love in his heart. He was a positive influence on many lives, demonstrating how to be a man, a father, and how to care for others. He was loved by all that knew him and will be missed. HOLT, ROBERT CHARLES Robert Charles Holt passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2014. Bob was born at home in Albany, Georgia to Beatrice and Otis Holt on July 1, 1933. He graduated from Albany High in 1950 and went to work for the Central Georgia Railroad until being called up from the reserves into the Navy for the Korean War. Bob served on the aircraft carrier USS Salerno Bay before attending college at Georgia Southwestern, Georgia Tech, and Southern Tech. In 1955, Bob married the love of his life, Sara Kay Clancy and after college began a long and enjoyable career at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque, NM. After retirement, he continued to work as a consultant for Vindicator, an Austin based security company for several years. Bob lived his life to the fullest, enjoyed traveling the world and working on numerous projects. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring cars, and could fix most anything. Bob was an amazing dad to his three children and a wonderful "Gramps" to five of what he called the greatest grandkids on earth. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Louis Holt; sister, Nell Holman; and brother, Thomas Holt. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kay Holt; children, Chuck Holt and wife Kerry, Kitty Strain, and Kevin Holt. His loving grandchildren include Garrett Holt and wife Elicia, Lindsey Holt, Travis Holt, Sarah Strain, and Sam Strain. He is survived by his brothers-in-law, Jack Clancy and Thomas Holman; his three nephews and their wives and children; as well as many friends. He truly valued his family and friends and they will all miss his loving kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Special thanks go out to all the doctors, nurses, hospital and hospice staff that helped Bob through his cancer fight. They all had a special place in his heart. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, with a reception to follow. Private interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park. MARTINEZ, ALBERT "AL" Age 69, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM, born in Velarde, NM, to Jose Alberto and Juanita Martinez, died on September 10, 2014. He is survived by his partner Gloria Hernandez of Albuquerque; his one "mija", Leann Martinez of Chimayo; grandchildren, Marcus Martinez, Kayleena, Adam, Lucia, and Santiago Archuleta of El Rito, and Ezra and Natalee Ward of Albuquerque; sisters, Francis Lopez and companion, Eloy Pacheco of Espanola, Laura Atencio of Dixon, Tilly Trujillo and spouse, Dennis of Cundiyo; and brothers, Virgil Martinez and spouse of Chimayo and Dennis Martinez of Pojoaque. Mr. Martinez is also survived by Walter and Lupita Atencio, very faithful and devoted niece and nephew, and their daughters, Felicia and Brianna Martinez; Jerome Martinez, very special godson from Colorado whom he talked with regularly; a very dear friend and colleague, Gino Carter; Cruz and Hilda Hernandez, who considered him a son; and John Ward and Ahna Bone. Mr. Martinez had numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved with all his heart. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Alberto and Juanita Martinez; two sisters, Marcella Martinez and Maria C. Ortiz; and one brother, Vidal Martinez. Mr. Martinez was a union employee for 42 years in the Local 953 Operating Engineers and was a doctor in crane operation. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. OLIVER, LILA MAE Lila Mae Oliver has gone to rest with our Heavenly Father on September 11, 2014, 10 days short of her 86th birthday. She was born September 21, 1928 in Alma, Kansas and was proud to be a "Jayhawker." She was a New Mexico resident since 1961 and retired from Sears in 1992 after 25 years. An amazing and compassionate Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Friend and loved spending time with her family and friends. Lila is preceded in death by her husband James W. Oliver, and is survived by her children Diane K. Dixon, Carol K. Corley and husband Rick and Craig K. Oliver and wife Yvonne; grandchildren Jim, Joanna, Rick, Kristy, Tracy, Jason and 19 great-grandchildren. Lila is also survived by four brothers who live in Kansas. Her loving and kind smile will be missed by all. A special thank-you goes out to neighbors James and Sandy Lopez and Moe and Carmen Dauber and the staff at Presbyterian Adult ICU unit, Dr. Craig Jensen and Dr. Matthew Montoya for their amazing care and compassion.
