BARNHILL, BENJAMIN F. "BARNEY" Born November 2, 1923 in Moorhouse, Missouri. Mr. Barnhill passed January 13, 2014. He was a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps, receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force Reserves receiving an honorable discharge in 1952. After leaving the service, he joined the Civil Service. He retired from the Civil Service in 1979. He moved with his wife, Joyce, to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987 where together they fully enjoyed retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years. He is survived by daughter, Kathy and her husband Wayne; daughter, Debbie; Grand Kids, Hank and his wife Kathy, Debi and her late husband Ron, Aaron; Great Grand Kids, Travis, Ethan, Daniel, Alex, Rachel, Johnny, Hannah, Josh and Great Great Grandson, Adrick. CHAVEZ, ARTHUR (TUDY) H. age 68, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Mr. Chavez is survived by his son, Rick Chavez; daughter, Monica Chavez-Trujillo and husband, Robert; brothers, Albert Chavez and wife, Julie, Louie Chavez, John Chavez and wife, Nora; sister, Beatrice Chavez; five grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members and friends. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ramona Chavez; sister, Louise Chavez-Orozco. Arthur (Tudy) will be greatly missed by all who were fortune enough to know him. Mr. Chavez was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era. COLUCCI, VIRGINIA M. 1930-2014 Virginia passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Albuquerque on January 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mildred, and is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Onorio; her devoted sons, Anthony and his wife Joy, Thomas and his wife Patricia, Richard and his wife Cecilia, Daniel and his wife Kelly, and Vince and his wife Denise; and her adoring grandchildren, Emily, Zacharias, Hannah, Isabella, Caterina, and Gianna. Born in Pittsburgh, PA and a resident of Albuquerque for 42 years, Virginia loved New Mexico and she and Onorio raised their family here. A warm and loving person of great emotional strength, she was a dedicated wife and mother and worked hard all her life. She and Onorio owned and operated an Albuquerque real estate company. She was known and loved as an active real estate professional for over 25 years, and helped many, many people find the perfect home. Virginia was Century 21's New Mexico Sales Agent of the Year for over 10 consecutive years. She will be dearly missed and always remembered by all who knew her. GONZALES, VICTORIA ANN Age 55, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014. She is survived by her spouse Dean Holguin; mother Della Gonzales; children Jacqueline Biesterveld and husband John, Ema Gonzales and husband Jerry; Aunt Irene Anaya and Uncle Henry Anaya; grandchildren Cedrik, Samuel, Destinee, Sebastian, Owen, and Lucas; sister Susan Gonzales and husband Jerry, brothers Manuel Gonzales and wife Yolanda, Frank Gonzales and wife Cindy; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Victoria was preceded in death by her father Manuel Ray Gonzales and mother-in-law Katie Holguin. Victoria was a very loving woman whose life message was to always be kind to others. HENRY, JACK EDWARD "JIGGS" 93, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Carla Vallem; sister, Betty Nordeen and her husband, Ronnie; grandson, Jack Volpato and wife, Julie; granddaughters, Sherry Neatherlin and Lori Dawson and husband, Randy. Jack was a great-grandfather to Jeremy Neatherlin, Jemma Volpato, and Randal Dawson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Henry; daughters. Elaine Volpato and Sally Henry. He was also preceeded in death by his grandson, Jon Tipton and his great-granddaughter, Laura Dawson. Jack served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as an IBM teletype technician. Later in life, he retired after 41 years working for the Santa Fe Railroad and Amtrack. Jack was best known as an avid golfer and his love for good food. Services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. JANSEN, JUDY MAE was born on September 23, 1945 in Viroqua, Wisconsin and passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 in Albuquerque. Judy Honorably served her country for four years in the United States Air Force. She worked for seventeen years at Rowlands Nursery. Judy enjoyed gardening, loved animals, taking care of feral cats. Judy will be remembered as a very loving person and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Faye Morrison; two brothers, Larry and Mike Morrison. Judy is survived by her loving husband of forty eight years James "Jim"; two daughters, Lori Jansen, Melissa Gass and husband John all of ABQ.; one grandchild, Chloe Gass; two brothers, James and wife Laura of ILL., Bob and wife Linda of WI.; one sister, Sharon and husband Larry of WI as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss her greatly. A Graveside Service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:15am with U.S.A.F. Honors. JARAMILLO, DAVID B. 09/24/58 - 01/15/14 David, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on January 15, 2014. He is survived by his only son Devin Jaramillo, parents Tom and Frutosa Jaramillo, sister Jeanette Jaramillo, sister Diane and husband Marcos Salazar, brother Robert Jaramillo, sister Katherine and husband Wayne Cook, Niece Chantelle Everage and husband Hekeem Washington, niece Shandan Everage, nephew Brandan Everage, great-nieces Ariah Everage and Jaida Washington, great-nephew Hezekiah Everage. David believed in living each day to its fullest. He saw everyday as a new adventure and was ready to follow the road wherever it might lead. SANCHEZ, ALBERT (BABE) On Tuesday, January 14, 2014, Albert (Babe) Sanchez passed away at the age of 81. Surrounded by his family, he peacefully went home to his Heavenly Father after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer. A life-long resident of Albuquerque, Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Rosaura Sanchez and his in-laws, Juan and Soila Herrera. Three siblings also precede him in death: Jessie Sanchez, Gillie Sanchez and Priscilla Salazar. Albert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Terri Sanchez, and four sons: Franklin and his wife Lourdes; Eric and his wife Deby; Paul, and Ronnie and his fiance, Rossemary Garcia. Albert is also survived by one grandson, Sebastian Amadeus Sanchez, and three sisters: Mary Villa, Margaret Thompson and her husband Clyde, and Maria Seymour, as well as brother's in-law, John Herrera and his wife Dolores, and Sisto Herrera and his wife Barbara. Albert leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as many life-long friends. A veteran of the United States Air Force and the Korean War, he was a co-founder of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce. Albert graduated from St. Mary's High School and Saint Joseph's College. Albert began his professional career as a school teacher before transitioning into a successful career in the construction and real estate industry, including positions as the Director of the New Mexico Contractors Services Center, and construction related positions for the State of New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque. Along with his wife, Albert also owned a successful construction and real estate company: Alsan Homes. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, January 21, 2014, 9:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW. Mass will be celebrated following the Rosary. THAYER, PHYLLIS Today and every day, we celebrate and honor the life of Phyllis Ann Thayer, cherished mother and grandmother, who passed into eternal life on January 15, 2014. In the months before she passed away, Phyllis was joined by her entire family, who shared stories and fond memories together. This remarkable woman is survived by her sons Mark Thayer (wife Lisa) of La Mesa, CA, Kenneth Thayer (wife Deana) of Midwest City, OK, and Timothy Thayer of Albuquerque, daughters Karen Thayer of Noble, OK, and Sharon Sanchez of Albuquerque, seven grandchildren (Erica, Justin, Curtis, Sydney, Stefanie, Christina, and Jordan), and two great-grandchildren (Keyton and Brien.) Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving sons Michael Thayer (wife Linda Thayer-White) and Stephen Thayer (wife Pamela). A resident of Albuquerque since 1950 and a faithful member of the Catholic Church, she served the community as a registered nurse for St. Joseph's Hospital, Lovelace Clinic, and the federal government and graciously volunteered her time to those in need. Although sadness consumes family and friends who love and will miss her, we are empowered by her continued optimism through the hardships she endured, her strength of character, and her infectious smile and laugh that will forever be in our hearts. WALCOTT, MELVYN B. Melvyn B Walcott, age 85 walked with the Lord on Jan. 5, 2014. Melvyn is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolores; son Barry, his wife Betty, children Cody and Elizabeth, grandchildren Jaycee and Cody Jr; daughter Renne, husband Paul, children Marc and Eric; son Kerry, wife Julie, children Saskia and Skyla; daughter Shauneen, husband Jeff, children Corey, Cole and Haley. Mel was a lifelong Christian spending many evenings and weekends helping family and friends with his woodworking talents which he passed on to his sons, sons-in-law and grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on March 1st at 10am, Asbury Methodist Church in Albuq.
