ARCHULETA, MARY 1937-2014 Mary Archuleta's journey in this world is now complete. She was called home Friday morning on January 10, 2014. Mary is survived by her children, Albert Edward Archuleta, Patricia Marie (Archuleta) Guenther married to Rodney, Albinita Maria (Romero) Nelson, Lori Ann (Romero) Griego married to Michael, Christopher James Romero; grandchildren, Travis Lee Nelson, Cassandra Adelaida Brown, Michael Lawrence Griego II married to Hope, Megan Leann Nelson, Rebecca Endurance Archuleta, Alyssa Nicole Romero and Alex Kenneth Romero; great-grandchildren, Alexis May Nelson and Jayce Grey Griego; special "adopted" grandchildren, Angelina Sepulveda, Samantha Borunda married to Adrian and their children Jeremiah and Kayleigh; god- daughter Bertha Martinez; daughter-in-law, Gina Romero and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and loved ones. BACA, ADELA Adela Baca, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on the evening of January 8th, 2014. She is survived by a daughter Lisa Marcell and son-in-law Sydney Jr.; two granddaughters Theresa Lynette and Sari; a grandson Syd III; and two great-grandsons Christopher Ryan and John Garrett, of Southern California. In addition, she leaves behind two sisters Mary Jane of Crystal River, Florida and Mela of Albuquerque; as well as nephew Leroy; and other numerous nephews and nieces, and extended family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Road in Albuquerque. A burial is to follow at Sunset Memorial. Funeral arrangements are being handled by French Mortuary.

BENAVIDEZ, JUANITA L. Juanita Leona Davis Benavidez departed on January 9, 2014. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on July 3, 1941 to Paul and Ermerlinda Davis. She is survived by her three children Ivan Seferino Benavidez Jr., Leona Ann Benavidez, Raquel Celine Benavidez, along with her grandchildren Nikohl Martinez, Alexandria Smith, Brandon Martinez, Anastasia Benavidez, Anthony Baca Jr., Ivan Benavidez III and Aajaylah Rogers. Juanita was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. She became a member of Catholic Daughters in 1991 and has been an active member of Holy Rosary church since 1987. CHAVEZ, JOHN D. SR. Age 85, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2114. He was born in Casa Colorada, NM on June 3, 1928. He retired from K. L. House Construction Company with 37 hears of service. A member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church for 50 years having served his church as an Elder and Deacon. Survivors include his son, John Chavez Jr of Bloomfield, NM; daughter, Loretta Chavez of Albuquerque, NM. Also, surviving him are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will take place at Daniel's Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:30am. Interment will take place on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 9:45am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. EAKES, BERNADETTE LYNN Bernadette (Berna) Lynn Eakes, age 34, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014. Berna was born January 19, 1979 to her parents Ramona and Tim Gutierrez. Berna and Joseph Eakes were married on October 19, 2001. Berna was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband Joseph Eakes; children Timothy and Tamera Eakes; mother Ramona Gutierrez; father-in-law, Jim Eakes; mother-in-law, Mary Grine and husband Arthur Grine; brothers, Robert Gutierrez; Richard Gutierrez and wife Angie Gutierrez; Joshua Eakes and wife Francisca Eakes; Dominic Eakes; sister, Monica Gutierrez and significant other Steve Garcia; and nieces/nephews, Jason, Alyssa, Monique, Chantel, Jordon, Alexzandra, Gavin, Brianna, Destiny, and Nevaeh. FUQUA, JACQUELINE ANNE RINI (Jacki/Mom) passed away January 12, 2014 in her home after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Jacki was born in Chicago, IL in l938. She attended college at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. She moved to Albuquerque in l977 along with her two young sons, from Memphis, Tennessee. She filled the lives of everyone she knew with her enthusiasm, warm attentiveness, her glorious smile and love of life. A loyal and true friend to all she loved, Jacki spread her kindness and her delight throughout her family and her social world. A wonderful mother and a cherished sister, Jacki was also a gifted weaver, an avid photographer, and as she always said, "once a biker, always a biker." She rode her BMW all over the western United States and twice chaired the BMW rally in Sipapu, New Mexico. Jacki was the business manager and photography editor of New Mexico's Century magazine in the l980s. She worked for Lovelace Hospital, Hirst/Cordova Public Relations, and for Fishback Dance Studios. Earlier, she was a physician's assistant in a private practice in Memphis. Jacki traveled far and wide and as often as she could, including numerous trips to Oxford, Rome, Paris and Florence, and around the southwest. She brought joy and comfort to all those around her. She adored her family and they were her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Fuqua of Murray, Kentucky, her mother and father Marjorie and S. Jack Rini of Los Lunas, and her grandmother Helen Herman of Albuquerque. She is survived by two sons, Marshall Fuqua and wife Jeri of Iowa, Christopher Fuqua and wife Deanna Chavez; granddaughters Mercedes and Sophia; brother Jim Rini and wife Nancy Kendall; sister Rini Price and husband V.B. Price; step-nephews Jody Price and wife Amy, and Keir Price and his children Ryan and Talia. Jacki will always be missed, always treasured, always honored, and forever loved by all of us. May she ride forever. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation in Albuquerque. A small private family service will be held.

GARDEA, PAUL E. JR. age 63, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on January 14, 2014. Paul was a resident of Valencia County for 14 years. He was married to his beloved wife for 30 years. Paul was a rough around the edges, good and caring person who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Valencia Master Gardeners Club and the Valencia Shitzen Dog Training Group. He enjoyed gardening, training his dogs, and spending time spoiling his grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paulino and Lupe Gardea. He is survived by his wife Dora Lee Gardea; daughter Melanie; and two grandchildren, Jasmine and Isaiah Lucero. He is also survived by his sister Olga R. Barela and her husband, Robert of Albuquerque and numerous nephews and nieces. KITSCH, JON Age 74, a resident of Algodones NM, born in Albuquerque's North Valley on March 26, 1939 to Bill and Margaret Kitsch, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2014. Jon was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mildred Marshall. Jon is survived by his wife of 46 years Elaine Kitsch; sons Thomas and wife Melanie Kitsch, Wilfred Kitsch; and daughter Christine Trnka and husband Craig. Jon has seven grandchildren, Melanie, Amanda, Bodie, Lainie, Jonathon, Levi and Angelique; and six great- grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Billie Gross and her husband Louis, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved him dearly. LOPEZ, GILBERT ARTHUR Age 64, a resident of Albuquerque and a former resident of Denver, CO, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2014. He is survived by his children, Robert "Bobby" Lopez, Angel Lunt, Bernadette Biehle, Josh Lopez, Yvette Lopez, Joseph Nestor, and Margaret Rodgers; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother, Rose Lopez; sisters, Irene Torrez and husband, Lawrence, Marie Garcia and husband, Randy, Lorraine Griner and husband, Andy, Renee Aguilar and husband, Patrick, and Barbara Chavez; brother, Thomas Steve Lopez and wife, Inez; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. MARTINEZ, MAX J. Max J. Martinez, age 79 of Albuquerque, NM. Born August 21, 1934 in Taos NM, to Alex and Minnie Martinez, passed away January 11, 2014. Max is survived by his wife of 54 years, Edwina Martinez; children, Diana and husband Andrew, Paul, Joanna, Dominic and wife Holly, and Nicholas (Kino); grandchildren, Gina, Andrew, Ashley, Sean, Kennedi, and Kaitlin; great-granddaughter Aubrey. Max served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. Max married Edwina on Christmas eve 1959. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Raff is survived by his two brothers, Edward Raff and wife, Cara, and Ronin Raff; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Raff was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Stella Raff; brother, Theodore L. Raff. Ronald was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era. SALAS, MICHAEL CHARLES Michael C. Salas, 51, born on May 3, 1962 in Gallup, NM and who died unexpectedly in the sanctuary of his home in Albuquerque, NM on January 13, 2014, surrounded by the loving faces of his family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Annie A. Naranjo and paternal grandmother, Helen T. Cato. "Miguel Carlos", is survived by his devoted family, parents Larry and Mary Cato; sister Rae Ann Salas-Baker (Randy); sister Lisa Oakerson (Robb); brother Patrick Salas (Barbara); and his beloved nephew Sebastian Salas. Michael was a compassionate, hard-working, and constant aid to his family, especially his mother and sisters. "Mikey Leo" was a devoted son, brother, and friend as a Nursing Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, and most recently a Caregiver/Medication Technician for Home Care Assistance taking care of Alzheimers/ Dementia patients. Because of his willingness to render aid whenever he was called, God called him to heaven much too soon to increase his servant duties. SPINDLE, LOUISE ANGELINE Age 100, born on November 22, 1913 and passed away on January 8, 2014, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. Louise was the great-granddaughter of the first pharmacist Jacob Krummeck in the territory of New Mexico. Louise was preceded in death by her Husband of 67 years, Thomas L. Spindle, her parents Leopold and Ida Shelby, sisters, Charlotte Laskey, Minerva Kimbrough, Ida Friedy, and Frances Light, brothers, Leo and George Shelby, Bernard Brown, and grandson Michael J. Bandoni. Louise is survived by her remaining brother Joseph Shelby and spouse Marge; sister-in-law Barbara Brown. Louise is also survived by her children, Barbara Bandoni and spouse Tony, son, Thomas Spindle and spouse Beverly, and Cheryl Walker. Louise is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; & two great-great-grandchildren. Louise was dearly loved by her extended family and many friends, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Arts and ceramics were a passion of Louise which she shared with all her grandchildren. Louise celebrated her 100th Birthday with a "Bang" enjoying all of her family and friends and especially John's tamales and her son Tom's green chili. We shall all miss this very gentle and wise wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Auntie. The family wishes to thank Heritage Hospice for their tender and loving care for our beautiful Mother, especially Keri, Sondra, and Martha. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 17, 2014, Rosary at 8:30am, Mass to follow at 9:00am at St Joseph's on the Rio Grande Church, 5901 St Joseph Dr. NW. STARSKY, EDWARD H. age 85, died peacefully in his home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents Leah and Harry Starsky and his beloved wife Karen. He was originally from Rochester, NY. He is survived by his son, Scott Starsky (children Sarah and Jacob) of Boulder, CO and his daughter Pamela (Michael) Kogan (children Samantha, Hannah and Jackson) of Pacific Palisades, CA; brother Ron (Vicki) Starsky of Rochester, NY; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cocker spaniels Rachel and Lacey. Special thanks for the love and kindness of his caregivers over the last two years; Antoinette, Chantau, Dana, Elenore, Lorraine and JD and to his guardian angels Irene, Mark and Melissa. A graveside service will be at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road, Rio Rancho on Saturday Jan. 18 at 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life occuring at the Westside UU Church, 1650 Abrazo Rd NE, Rio Rancho at 1:00 pm. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Westside UU church or the Jewish Community Center in Edward's name.

ZOZAYA, BEATRICE Age 79, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 12, 2014.
