GARCIA, VEVA age 86, was born March 10, 1927 and passed away October 14, 2013. Veva was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Garcia; parents, Pablo and Celedonia Garcia; brother, Robert Garcia; sisters, Vickie Lewis, Sister Margaret Garcia and Flora Santistevan. Veva is survived by her brothers, Severo Garcia and wife, Romie, Marcos Sedillo and wife, Mary Lou; her sisters, Dora Espino, Estella Eras and husband, Albert; numerous nephews and nieces. GRANT, STERLING RAYMOND III Sterling went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14th. He was born on December 6, 1966 to Linda Guthrie (Grant) and Sterling R. Grant, Jr. He was affectionately called Punkin, until he reached puberty and put an end to that name. Sterling served in the Navy for over ten years as a video correspondent in Bosnia and the Gulf War, then as TV producer for Naveur Magazine, receiving several military medals, which he gave to his mother. Back at home in NM, he worked for KOB-R TV, then for Rick Johnson Advertising Agency with his father & RJC partner, Sterling, Jr. for 13 years. Sterling III was a talented film editor, director and producer, winning numerous awards and recognition for his work in the industry. He had a long, distinguished career in television and film. Sterling is survived by his wife, Dream Mullick; son, Skylar Grant; parents, Linda Guthrie and Sterling Grant Jr. and Beth Grant; grandmother, Norma Grant; his sisters, Randi, Megan and Christina; brothers, Nicholas and Chad; plus numerous family members. Sterling was adored by his whole family and was a hero to his siblings. Sterling was the sunshine in the lives of hundreds of people he knew. Everyone became his friend. He was always cheerful and compassionate, caring more about others, always ready to listen to their problems and help them. Sterling was kind, intelligent, and charismatic. His biggest asset was his sense of humor and sincere smile which he was known for. He absolutely sparkled! Sterling was gifted by God artistically, in painting, drawing, photography and music. He was also a skilled plumber, electrician and carpenter, remodeling several homes. He was an athletic bicyclist, skate boarder, surfer, racquetball player, boarder and downhill skier and fisherman. Sterling was the best at everything. Services will be Friday the 18th at Hyder Park in SE ABQ at 3:00PM. A scholarship has been set up for son Skylar Grant at NM Educators Federal Credit Union or donations can be made to ARCA Foundation in Sterling Grant III's name. HOUSE, DONALD R. Age 82 peacefully died at home of cancer. Born in Coffeyville, Kansas, Don moved to Albuquerque as a young boy with his family. He graduated from AHS in 1949. He later joined the Air Force, serving as an Avionics Technician in France and Germany. Days off found Don touring on his Triumph motorcycle with his "buddies" throughout Europe and its many scenic surrounding areas, always with his trusty Rolleiflex camera on board. After four years of active duty, he returned to New Mexico and graduated from UNM. Employed by the City of Albuquerque, Don worked closely with its manager Edmund Engel and then in the Public Works and the Personnel Departments before taking a position with UNM's Bureau of Business Research and the Student Health Center until his retirement. As an avid car collector, motorcycle enthusiast, and photographer, Don embraced and enjoyed all of these passions throughout his life. Survivors include his wife Priscilla; sons Lee, Alan and wife Cathy; daughter Anna Jane Dausses and husband Brian; two grandsons; brother Carl House and partner Henry Messer; brother-in-law John Danfelser and wife Betty; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers should friends desire, donations may be made in Don's name to Presbyterian Hospice or the Albuquerque Alzheimer's Association. RYAN, KADINE CAROL Kadine Ryan, age 46, passed away Aug. 6, 2013 in York, PA. She was the wife of the late Patrick Ryan. Kadine was born in York, PA to Lee and Carol Stare. In addition to her parents, Kadine is survived by her beloved sons, Nicholas, 9, and Samuel, 8; as well as sisters Kimberlee Piper (husband Dan) of PA, and Kristin Glassey (husband Jake) of NJ; many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Also mourning her loss is her late husband's family of Oregon and Colorado. SILVA, OLIVAMA "MRS. SILVA" passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 17, 2013. She was born to Jose Maria and Claudina Alire of Ojo Caliente October 20, 1921. Mrs. Silva was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Leroy; parents, Jose Maria and Claudina Alire and sisters, Perfecta Alire and Virginia Lopez. Mrs. Silva took great pride in caring for her yard with her flowers and fruit trees. She enjoyed embroidering towels, making jelly, puzzles, traveling and most of all visiting family. She retired from the Espanola Hospital where she specialized in making salads and desserts. Mrs. Silva is survived by her daughter, Henrietta Borrego (Larry) of Cordova; sons, Orlando (Mary) of Albuquerque, Jim (Marnie) of California, Larry of NV, Johnny (Veronica) of Espanola, Gary (Debra) of Colorado, Philip (Christina) of Las Cruces and Michael (Shay) of Corrales; sisters, Agnes Grace of California, Agatha Trujillo (Julian) of California and Rosie Sanchez (John) of California; sister-in-law Teodorito (Teddy) Garcia, 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much. TROTT, RICHARD A. 6/26/35 - 10/12/13 Richard (Dick) Trott is survived by his wife of 48 years Marge Trott; his son Richard Trott; his daughter Aniesa Casaus and husband Rick Casaus; daughter Amy Gomez and husband Sal Gomez; and four grandchildren, Trey Casaus, Jordyn Casaus, Nicco Gomez and McKennah Gomez. He spent his entire life in Albuquerque, and was a proud member of the U.S. Army, and leaves many friends at the American Legion Post 13. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.

VAN BERKEL, FRED (GODEFRIDUS HENDRIKUS MARIA) Took his final breath on Saturday, October 12, 2013. Born in Gouda, Holland, on December 5, 1937, Fred immigrated first to Brazil, where he remained for 10 years, and then to the United States. Fred had been an Assistant Professor of Sociology at St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ, before moving to Albuquerque in 1976, where he worked as a hotel food and beverage manager before becoming licensed as a general contractor. He operated his own building and remodeling business until retirement in 1998. He was instrumental in forming the Taylor Ranch Neighborhood Association and served the Association in many capacities over the years. He also served as part of the committee that helped establish the parish of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande. He proudly became an American citizen in Albuquerque in 1977. Fred is survived by his wife, Ceil (Joyce Andrews) van Berkel; son, Victor van Berkel (wife, Robin Guillory); grandson, Dexter van Berkel; and his sisters, in Holland, Pop (husband, Adriaan Ommering), Miep (husband, Jan van Laar) and Bep van Berkel. He is also survived by the extended family of Rick and Karyl Farris, who for the past 37 years lovingly included Fred in their family circle. A memorial service will be held at FRENCH - Westside chapel on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., followed by refreshments in the Reception Hall. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in the small chapel at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. VIGIL, GILBERT EFREN Age 80, a resident of Los Lunas and Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Vigil; his son, Ronnie Vigil; his daughter Arlene Vigil; and his parents Eustacio and Elena Vigil. He is survived by his children, Patsy Trujillo and husband, Richard; Gilbert Eugene Vigil and Charlene Maestas; Marvin Vigil and wife, Debra; Ruth Boyd and husband, David; his sisters, Ida Serna, Dora Lopez, and Berna Piezinksi; brothers, Bernie Vigil and Fernando Vigil; nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Family Worship Center, 7311 Glenrio Road, NW, 87121, on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Meliton Lopez of Healing Waters Ministry officiating. WALIGORA, STANLEY JOHN III age 49, a resident of Albuquerque for most of his life, died on October 10, 2013. He was born on April 28, 1963 in Las Vegas, NV. His parents met and married in Albuquerque before moving to Las Vegas. The family, with two younger brothers, returned to Albuquerque in 1967. They moved to Columbia, SC in 1972. Stanley's mother, Annie Laurie (Moss) Waligora passed away in 1976. The family returned in 1977. Stanley had a handicap from birth. He graduated from Sandia High School, through special education, in 1982. During his senior year, he was an intern at KANW-FM, performing engineering tasks and was a also a Disc Jockey on the air and at remote dances. After graduating, there were no broadcasting jobs so he worked most of this life as a dishwasher and janitor. He was a diligent worker and had a sunny disposition. He would explain to others why he was such a successful dishwasher and/or janitor. He is survived by his father, Stanley J. Waligora Jr of Albuquerque; and brothers, Steven G. Waligora of Albuquerque, and David M. Waligora of Slidell, LA. He has two half brothers, Joseph P. Waligora of Albuquerque, and Mark A. Waligora of Laguna Beach, CA. A brief service will be conducted at the interment of his ashes at the Centennial Garden of Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, at 11:00am on October 22, 2013.
