BRADLEY, JAMES E. Age 82, of Albuquerque, NM and Santa Fe, NM passed away at his Santa Fe home on Friday, September 13, 2013. His long-time companion, Rosa Rajkovic, wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and visits during James' illness. The youngest of three children, James Eugene Bradley was born on March 21, 1931, in Williamson County, IL, to Conrad Leo Bradley and Cecile (nee Jack) Bradley. Having been born during the Depression Era, as a young boy, James sold home-grown tomatoes for a nickel each to railroad workers so that he could buy shoes for school. James attended Community High School in Carbondale, Illinois and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois. In the 1960s, as Director of Development for Rio Rancho Estates northwest of Albuquerque, James built the first subdivision in Rio Rancho and was instrumental in bringing Intel to the area. At the time, people questioned why someone would build so far out of Albuquerque. James started Sunland Realty, and he also was a member of the Board of Directors of the First State Bank of Rio Rancho. James named many of the streets in Rio Rancho, including Barbara Loop after his then wife. In the 1970s, James and AMREP incorporated and developed Eldorado, NM. Prior to moving to Albuquerque, NM from St. Paul, MN, James was Regional Manager of Industrial Development for the Great Northern Railway, now the Burlington-Northern. During his tenure at the railway, some 125 to 150 new facilities a year were located in his region. His region, at the time, covered all industrial activity in North and South Dakota, Minnesota, parts of Wisconsin and Ohio. James was active in with the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce and the St. Paul Industrial Development Executives Association. Before this, James was Supervisor of the Community Preparedness Section of the Illinois Department of Business and Economic Development. In addition to community development activities, the Department was also responsible for export expansion, local and regional planning, tourist promotion, and research and analysis to attract industry to the area. James' whimsical Top Ten List of "Ways to Ruin a Town" appeared in numerous newspapers across the country. James was with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors. The celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe home of Rosa Rajkovic. Much beloved James (Papa Jim) is survived by his long-time companion Rosa (Rose) Rajkovic, nephews Michael and Nicholas Rajkovic, granddaughter Serenity Rajkovic, daughter Karen Bradley, son Richard Bradley, granddaughter Lien Bradley, two corgis, Maggie and Lacey, and numerous loving friends. He is preceded in death by sons Charles Bradley and Steve Bradley. Floral arrangements, in accordance with military protocol, are being handled by Silene Floral (505-820-0911) of Santa Fe, NM. Memorial Contributions can be made to the VFW, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Please visit our online guestbook for James, at www.FrenchFunerals.com. FRENCH - Wyoming 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400

BRANDT, MAIZIE BROWN Age 83, passed on the 19th of September 2013, following years of battling Alzheimer's Disease. Maizie was born in Alma, Georgia . She was the loving daughter of Joseph R. and Anna Belle Brown, who both preceded her in death. She was married for 54 years to Lt. Col. John S. Brandt, who also preceded her in May of 2009. Maizie is survived by three beloved children: Bonnie Belle, John William and Joseph Michael, as well as John's wife, Mary. She leaves four grandchildren, from her son John and his wife Mary : John R., William, Shelby and Andrew, as well as John R. and his wife Kaitlin Chase Reese's son, her great-grandson, Ian Blake Brandt. Her brother, Paul N. Brown, preceded her in death and she is survived by Miriam B Tucker, her sister, J. Ronald Brown, her brother, and wife, Pat as well as sister-in-law Geraldine Brown. She also leaves many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Maizie grew up in Alma and Waycross, Georgia. Her maternal grandmother's family had a farm in Georgia, where she had many good memories of her times with her siblings and many cousins. Maizie learned to cook and sew at an early age. She learned to make her own clothes and also, generous of spirit and love, made dresses for her cousins and in particular, for her sister Miriam, with whom she had a special and loving relationship all her life. She graduated from Wacona High School in 1946 at 16 years old. After attending Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Florida, she earned an associate's degree in business. She worked various jobs, including joining the US Air Force, becoming an Airman First Class. She met and married John S. Brandt from New York, an Air Force Fighter Jet pilot in April of 1955. She enjoyed the life of a military wife, lovingly raising three children and moving all over the United States, and even living in Japan. Retiring from Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas, she and her family enjoyed many years in Santa Fe, NM. During this time frame, after brushing up on her secretarial and business skills, she re-entered the workforce becoming a Vice-President at an Abstract and Title company. She also enjoyed several years as a Toast Mistress. Thereafter, followed a short stint in Albuquerque, NM to enjoy the births and early years of her grandchildren. She also continued to work with Gladden and Associates. After many short vacation trips to southern Colorado, Maizie and John moved to Durango, Colorado. There, they enjoyed their mountain home and the surrounding beauty of that area, and treasured their many friends in Durango West II and the friends and fellowship at First Southern Baptist Church. During this time, Maizie and John enjoyed short trips all over Colorado and to the coasts of Oregon and Washington and even Alaska. They enjoyed the seafood and watching the waves crash in from the ocean. Maizie enjoyed a life long relationship, full of love and laughter, with her sister, Miriam B. Tucker of Tampa, Florida and for many years traveled with her and their respective daughters, Bonnie and Leigh Ann, going to Europe annually. Maizie enjoyed many international trips with her daughter Bonnie, as well as with her son, Joe. Maizie had a zest for life, kind and generous of spirit, showering love on those around her. She enjoyed and valued her Bible studies and her Baptist faith all her life. She had many hobbies, some of which included oil painting, reading, cooking, sewing and also developed a love of quilting. She hand made quilts for her children, grandchildren, siblings and nieces. She won the first place prize for her hand-stitched Baltimore quilt at the Silverton Colorado festival. Besides her husband, the joys in her life were her children and her grandchildren. Through her son John and his wife Mary, she delighted in learning about her grandchildren and watching them grow. She had a competitive nature and thoroughly enjoyed her board games with her grandchildren, looking forward to every visit during summers, vacations and holidays. She shared ice cream and laughs and found great joy in the unique special characteristics of each grandchild, treasuring them each, one by one. She also got to laugh, share treats and play ball with her great-grandson, Ianwho gave her laughs and joy during the last years of her battle against Alzheimer's. He never failed to make her smile. Even as Alzheimer's Disease stripped her of her memories, Maizie maintained her sweet southern personality and always had a kind word for those she encountered daily. She was a giving, compassionate and charitable woman with a quick and pretty smile and a great sense of humor. She lived the remainder of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We recall a story from our Father, who tried to teach her how to pump fuel at a gas station, so she could do it herself. After she "accidently" spilled gas on his shoes, she turned up her southern accent, smiled coyly and apologized, stating: "Honey, there are some things a southern girl just does not doand pumping gas is one of them". Thus our Dad filled up her car for the rest of his life. Momyou were one of a kind and a true "Georgia Peach"! We will miss you and your words of wisdom, the love and laughter you gave us all your life will reside forever in our hearts and souls and guide us as we move forward. Maizie's interment with military honors will be held September 27, 2013 at the Santa Fe National Cemetary, preceded by a short viewing at Daniel's Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Lt. Col. John Selden Brandt. EATON, GEORGE W. A valiant man's memory is everlasting. A year passed. I miss your inspiring philosophy, your talent in music, playing it and being an authority in the classic side of it, a tenor, a maestro, and a leader. Your encouragement to the cultural events in the community was phenomenon, certainly as you were talented in acting as well as in music. The grace in your daily dealings plus your leadership amazed every person that we knew. Directing the choir in our church was an inspiration to everybody. You led your group with prestigious candor, encouraged them and gave the congregation a historic background for every hymn. Your knowledge in medicine amazed your doctors who enjoyed sharing your vast knowledge. I miss your big heart, your broad shoulders, your unequal kindness and your big honest unusual green eyes. You blessed every thing you touched. Your compassion as a husband, as a father and as a grandfather will guide us through the rest of our lives. As an engineer by profession, and architect, you were a winner of universal engineering awards that will adorn your home always. Modesty with Christian values, will line you up with genius historical personalities. Life lost it's luster darling. The pain pierces and lingers and my soul longs to be with you again. My everlasting love is expressed in Hamlet's quotation: "Love is begun by time, and time qualifies the spark and the fire of it." Your devoted loving wife, Adriana Eaton

HUDSON, WINNIE T. Winnie passed away peacefully on September 17, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 9, 1924 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Anna Rose and Arthur Walter Berndt. Winnie was a stenographer for Hardware Mutual in San Francisco, CA just after World War II. She was later transferred to Chicago, Illinois where she met Ed on a blind date. As the story goes, Winnie and a friend drew straws to see who would go out with Ed. According to Ed, Winnie drew the short straw. They were married 19 days later on December 29, 1945. Winnie was a pioneer of the exercise movement being the first woman in Albuquerque to have a televised exercise program called 'Take Ten'. For the past 34 years, Winnie would drive to Sandia Pool at 5:00 AM in order to be the first person in the door to get to "Winnie's Lane". She never missed a day, swimming almost a mile each day. Because of her desire and dedication, Winnie was awarded a "lifetime" pass to the pool. Her other interests included her passion for playing bridge, shopping at "her stores" for the ultimate bargain, fishing, camping and reading mystery novels. A memorable time in Ed and Winnie's lives was a month long trip they took across the United States up to Canada and Alaska. They traveled in their fifth wheel trailer and discovered many new and exciting places. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and her son Ted. Winnie is survived by Edward C., her loving husband of 67 years; children; Jeff, Bruce, Todd, Tracee (Hans Petersen) and Carol Knauber (Tom); her grandchildren, Adrienne Grindstaff (Matt), Ted Knauber, Justin Knauber and Damon Hudson; and her great-grandchildren; Carter and Noah Grindstaff. She is admired by her family and friends for having lived life her way, with strong will and determination. We are thankful for the support and love of her many relatives as well as her friends from the Sandia Pool, her numerous bridge clubs and The Heights YMCA. At Winnie's request, the family will be holding a private ceremony in her honor. In addition, a 'Celebration of Her Life' for her family and friends will be held on October 9, 2013. If you are interested in attending, please send your contact information to gar14winnie@yahoo.com

RUCKER, ELLIE (Eleanor Ann Brown), noted newspaper columnist, is now in the loving arms of her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. She was born to Ruth and Theodore R. Brown June 2, 1936 and went to Heaven, dying peacefully of natural causes, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 surrounded by her three loving daughters. Ellie Rucker wrote a consumer question-and-answer column for the Austin American-Statesman in Austin, Texas from 1977-1992. Prior to that she wrote a similar column for the Abilene Reporter-News in Abilene, Texas where her journalism career began. Her column in the American-Statesman was widely read. She held the distinction of writing the column with the highest readership in the newspaper, and she thoroughly enjoyed her job and the readers who loyally followed her. She was often approached in the grocery store with a question from one of her fans. She might not have the answer instantly, but she knew who to call. Southwest Woman Magazine described her as "the most popular columnist to ever grace the pages of the American-Statesman". She also wrote a restaurant recipe column for the food section, a unique column where readers request recipes of items they've tried at favorite restaurants around town. When she began writing the column it was the first and only of its kind. Ellie attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois and Baylor University in Waco. Less than three years after she moved to Austin she was named Woman of the Year by the Austin Toastmistress Club in 1979. In 1981 the American Association of University Women named her one of their Women of the Year and she was also named Woman of the Year by Women in Communication. In 1982 she was featured on the cover of Third Coast magazine, and was also featured in other Austin based publications. Ellie published her first book in 1980, "Ellie Rucker's Almanac - Where to Buy a Concrete Armadillo and Other Pertinent Information". The book is a collection of questions her readers had asked about Austin, ants, airhorns (where to get one that plays "The Eyes of Texas"), repair services, fix-it places, where to find parts to old cars, sewing machines and calculators, what to do when you get ripped off, how to get your rebate you've been promised on the food processor you just bought, tips on Austin etiquette for new Yankees ("Do you give a gift of money when you're invited to a wedding tea in Texas?"). It was a mixture of her most frequently asked questions as well as some of her favorites, and some that were just so bizarre she couldn't resist printing them once again. In Austin, Ellie volunteered at Brackenridge Hospital, served on various boards such as the Anti-Litter Task Force, Lady Bird Johnson's Wildflower Task Force, Seton Hospital's League House, and was a member of the Junior League of Austin. Ellie enjoyed traveling the world including an African Safari, a ride on the Orient Express, a visit to St. Petersburg, and touring the French countryside searching for antiques with her three daughters. After retiring to San Antonio she enjoyed her time and friendships as a docent at the McNay Art Museum, and felt a special calling to volunteer with her beloved wounded warriors at the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) at Fort Sam Houston. Ellie was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Theodore Brown, and her brother Charles. She is survived by her brothers, Ted and Jim of Albuquerque; her loving daughters, Julie Bradshaw and her husband Bill; Allison Fannin and her husband Michael; Renee Davis and her husband Scott; and eight grandchildren, Bill and Matt Bradshaw, Drew, Reed, Kelsey, and "T" Davis, Jack & Reese Fannin. All will miss her loving, energetic, peppy, vivacious, vibrant and funny personality. She had the unique ability to make each one feel special and they adored her. The family is most appreciative of the care provided by the doctors, nurses and staff of Northeast Baptist Hospital. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His uniquely born Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." A Visitation was held at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Loop 1604 East, Friday, September 20, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. MEMORIAL SERVICE WAS HELD ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2013 AT 2:00 PM, PORTER LORING NORTH CHAPEL, 2102 N.
