GARDUNO -- Guadalupe "Lupe" Garduno began a new chapter of life on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 after a ten year valiant struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was born June 9, 1936 in Chaperito, New Mexico. Guadalupe honorably and proudly served his country in the US Army and retired after 24 years. He received two Bronze Medals for courageous acts during the Vietnam conflict. During his military career, Guadalupe traveled extensively and met his lovely wife Ursula while stationed in Germany; they recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. In addition to his devoted wife Ursula; he is survived by his brothers, Henry (Celeste), Carlos (Alice), John (Robin), Martin and Lee (Robin); his sisters, Adeline (Augustine), Rose (Bonnie) and Angie (Jeff); his children, Helene Dobbins (Joseph), James and Thomas (Catherine), and Katherina Garduno; his grandchildren, Robert (Chelsea), Annette, Sierra, Christopher, Joseph (Ashley), Benjamin, Rebecca, Sean, Alexandra and Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Christiana, Angelina and Parker Ann; his adopted mother, Rosine Garduno; his extended family members and countless friends the world over. Guadalupe loved to return to his beloved Chaperito where as a boy he learned to fish and hunt. He enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing trips with his sons and friends, Jesse, Andrew, Robert and Harold. Guadalupe is preceded in death by his mother Eugenia Montano, his adopted father, Adolpho Garduno, his mother-in-law, Helene Halberstadt, sister-in-law, Gertrud Halberstadt and his son-in-law, Marty Metoyer. A Celebration of Life service will be at Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. Inurnment will be at 3:00 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. HALL -- Charles R. Hall, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita in July of 2009. They were married for 56 years and made a great team. Charles was also preceded in death by his younger brother, David Hall of Grand Prairie, TX. Charles is survived by his two sons, James and Nathan Hall; his sister, Ramona and husband, Frank Fowler of Mesquite, TX; his youngest brother, Ronnie Hall and wife, Sandra of Grand Prairie, TX; cousins, Jack Mallory and wife, Lavaun of Burlison, TX, Donald Lynch and wife, Anita, and Dan Lynch and wife, Mary Lou, all of Visalia, CA; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and good friends. Charles Hall honorably served his country in the US Army before transferring to the US Air Force where he worked as what is now known as air traffic control. Later he worked at INA which eventually became CIGNA Corporation as a safety specialist, retiring after nearly 30 years service. He was also a long term member of the American Society of Safety Engineers. At his request, cremation has taken place. Services and interment will be held in Charles' home state of Texas. HOOVER -- Marion Cameron Hoover a.k.a. "Kisses", age 78, of Albuquerque passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 56 years I.B. Hoover of Albuquerque; her daughter, Sharon Hoover-Thorpe and her husband, Daniel; sons, Bruce and wife, Teri and Scott and wife, Renee all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ryan Thorpe and wife, Andrea, Elizabeth and husband, Mitchell Earls, Emily Thorpe, Alexandra Hoover, and Cori Hoover; brother, Bill Hay and wife, Sylvia of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Margaret Maples of Mesquite, TX, Martha Weikert and husband, Fred of Shalimar, FL, and Marylou Hay of New Orleans, LA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph. Marion was born in Youngstown, OH and lived in New Orleans, LA before moving to Albuquerque in 1967. She was an active member of Monte Vista Christian Church serving as a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years and overseeing the history committee at the church. She was also very active in Christian Women's fellowship for many years. She served Meals on Wheels for over 37 years. Marion was a loving and caring grandmother and was known to all of her grandchildren as "Kisses". Marion loved to play bridge, enjoyed gardening and was also an avid reader. She was an excellent speller. her family and friends could never find a word she couldn't spell. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, 1:00 p.m., at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE. HOWERTON -- Walter B. Howerton lost his best friend when his wife Barbara died in 1998. On Christmas evening 2010 he joined her. Walter was born in McAlister, OK in 1920. He attended the University of Oklahoma. He and Barbara met while working at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City, and they married in 1943. Walter then joined the Army Signal Corps. In 1949 he and Barbara moved to Albuquerque, and he was hired by Sandia National Laboratories. He worked for Sandia until he retired in 1986. He traveled extensively in his job. They lived for a year in Las Vegas during nuclear testing at Mercury, Nevada, and he also traveled often to Kauai and Southeast Asia during the Viet Nam war. He specialized in calibration, and thoroughly enjoyed his work at Sandia. Walter loved working on his sports cars, and raced MG's during the late 1950's. He and Barbara both enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, and Walter was extremely close to becoming a "Life Master" when his memory wouldn't allow him to play anymore. Walter was very well liked, and was always a gentleman. He was a wonderful, kind and loving man, who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter Shelby Majors and her husband Dick of Fort Collins, CO; and his sister Mary Elizabeth McDonald of Albuquerque. Cremation will take place, and no services are planned.

JONES -- Gordon Dale Jones, 1931-2010, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1999 and New Mexico since 1946, passed away on December 20, 2010. Gordon was born on August 5, 1931 in Hobart, OK and lived there until moving to New Mexico. His parents were Chester Newton Jones and Essie Butler Canaday. He was preceded in death by Margaret Welch Jones, his wife of 32 years. Gordon is survived by his three children, Marianne Jones Brown of Santa Fe, NM, Michael Gordon Jones of Falmouth, MA, Kerin Ann Jones of Ann Arbor, MI. He was also blessed with four grandchildren, Aaron Brown, Kylene Brown, Mary Kate Jones and Connor Jones, as well as two great-grandchildren. David Canaday, his brother and Randy Laws, his long-time and trusted friend, have been of great support and friendship to Gordon over these many years. Gordon was a Korean War Veteran and a graduate of the University of New Mexico. He was a Certified Public Accountant, working in Albuquerque for many years and a former Fidelity National Bank board member. Additionally, Gordon was involved in several businesses, both in New Mexico and his home state of Oklahoma. He always thought he would be remembered for something, but was never sure for what. Please remember him by making a donation to the UNM Cancer Research Center. A Memorial Service will be held sometime in 2011, with a separate announcement with details about it closer in time to the selected date.
