ALLEN -- FRED JR. Age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011. He is survived by his daughters, Doris L. Romero and husband James, Terry Baca and husband, Lawrence, and Stephanie Padilla, all of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; his sister, Doris Chapman of Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Allen. Fred worked for and retired from PNM. Mr. Allen was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also an active chicken-fighter for over 50 years. In his later years, he loved to do karaoke. Fred belonged to the Moose Lodge and also attended many of the American Legion Posts. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a very generous heart. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m., at French - University Chapel. BARKER -- GLEN D. Age 77, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM died December 18, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Bettye; daughter, Cherie Barker of Albuquerque; son, Greg Barker and wife Christine of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Cole Barker and Brookelle Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dovie Barker of Texarkana, AR. Glen was a loving husband, father, grandpa and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed. He retired from U.S. Civil Service and was active in local bowling and golf associations. He fully enjoyed family and friends and was always willing to help others. He was a member of Netherwood Park Church of Christ. Friends may visit French Mortuary from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. The family gives special thanks to everyone at The Retreat, Dementia/Alzheimer facility in Rio Rancho, NM where Glen was given kind and loving care for the past 19 months. Special thanks also to Hospice de la Luz for added comfort and care the past five weeks. BIEFELD -- ALLAN H. Age 73, of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, December 19th. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 37 years, Carol; as well as seven children; sixteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His kindness, loyalty, respect, and wit will be missed greatly. BRISENO -- LOUISE JOSEPHINE Age 49, passed away December 19, 2011. She was born December 19, 1962 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Fabian and Bonnie Leyba. Louise is survived by her sons, Kevin Briseno and his wife Sandra, Jeremy Saavedra and his fiance Leah; her father and mother; sister, Leonor Klingensmith and her husband Mike; brothers, Randy Leyba and his wife Catherine, Mike Leyba and his wife Tanya; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services will take place on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 815 Guaymas Place Northeast, near Lomas Blvd. and Tennessee Street. Reciting of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 am, Mass 10:00 am. Interment will follow Mass at San Jose di Armijo Cemetery, 2957 Arenal Road Southwest.

CAPO -- JAMES (JIM) Age 82, passed away peacefully December 16, 2011. He was born in Beaumont, TX, on February 25, 1929. At the time of his death he was a resident of Rio Rancho, NM. He co-owned Capo's Truck and Auto Parts until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling around the country in his motorhome. He spent a great deal of his time in Texas, living there until recently when he decided to come home to New Mexico to spend time with his family here. He fought a valiant battle with lung cancer. Jim is survived by his wife Ida Lou; son Butch Capo (Sandy Blalock); and his step-son Ricci Lortz; grandsons Robert Capo, Bill Blalock (Michelle Gallegos) and Robert Lortz; granddaughters Kimberly Scribner, Ricci Lortz, Rocci Lortz and Shawnna Valenzuela; his sister Marie Fox and her husband Roy; his sister-in-law Glenn Capo; great-grandkids Beau, Kelsi and Shelby Scribner, Hunter and Hayden Blalock; and numerous other great-grandkids, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Frances Capo; his first wife Joe Anne; and his brother Coley Capo. As per his request Jim will be cremated. A Memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at 11:00 am at the Rio Vista Church, 8701 Golf Course NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. LATHROP -- LARRY R. Age 68, was a resident of Albuquerque, NM since July 2010. He previously resided in Chicago, IL for 34 years. He died on December 22, 2011 at 3:40 am at home. Larry was the son of Fred and I. Rose Lathrop. He is survived by his lifelong partner Tommy Wiley; sisters Peggy Figle and Sharon Lathrop of Monmouth, IL, Judy Crinklaw of Omaha, NE, and Cheryl Lathrop of Council Bluffs, IA; brothers Dan Lathrop (Kay) and Leroy Lathrop of Monmouth, IL, Darrell (Barb) Lathrop of Oquawka, IL, Joe (Lois) Lathrop of Dekalb, IL, Mike (Linda) Lathrop of Beardstown, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents; his sister Rozella Liggett; and nephews Bryan Figle and Dustin Liggett. He was of Presbyterian faith. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and was joyous to see them win the World Series again! He loved flowers, gardening, traveling and music. LEYBA -- VIRGINIO Age 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He loved to watch his grand kids play sports and his roses. He enjoyed baseball, lobo basketball and cowboy movies. Virginio was born in Pena Blanca, NM on July 14, 1938 to the late Atilano and Pepa Leyba. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin; and sisters, Rosa and Eva. Virginio is survived by his wife, Anna; and four children, Rose Ann and husband; George, Michael, Pauline, and Katrina; grandchildren, Brian, Kristin, Erika, Michelle, Jonathan, Aaron, Brandon and Justine; sisters, Martha and husband Ray, Ursula, Katy and husband Freddie, and Della. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Pena Blanca, NM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. also at the Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Pena Blanca, NM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery, Pena Blanca. MOORE -- SHARLOTTE PARKS HIGBEE Age 86, died peacefully in her sleep with her son Les Moore by her side, Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Mountain View Home. Born and raised in Troy, NY. She moved to Florida in 1964, and in 2009 joined her daughter in New Mexico. She is survived by her children and their spouses and children. Survivors include daughter, Susanne Silvey Moore of Albuquerque; son, Raymond Lester Moore of Castle Rock, CO, son, Roy Curtis Moore of Melbourne, FL; one brother, Gary B. Higbee; two sisters, Mary Anne H. Evans and Jane Higbee. Sharlotte was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Richard H. Higbee, and lost her sister, Carolyn H. Schongar, November 29, 2011. A small private memorial gathering was held at her daughter's home in New Mexico. Many blessings and much gratitude to the staffs of Total Community Care and Mountain View Manor, and to Deanna, Judy and Scruffy - all who made a significant difference in the quality and joy in Sharlotte's life.

PADILLA -- JUAN DE DIOS 85, of Grants, New Mexico died very peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 21, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Juan was born on April 16, 1926 in San Rafael, New Mexico to Epimenio "Eppie" and Lazarita (Sandoval) Padilla. Juan married his loving wife of 69 years, Tillie Chavez. Juan was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Grants, NM. He was a Navy World War II Veteran, member of the Knights of Columbus/VFW/DAV; and the American Legion. Juan was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Estolia Quinonez and Rosarito Apodaca; two brothers, Ben Padilla and Ramon Padilla. He is survived by his wife, Tillie of Grants, NM; sons, Ernie Padilla and wife, Mary Ann of Glendale, Arizona and Johnny Padilla and wife, Patricia of Bloomfield, Colorado; daughter, Lisa Massey and husband, Richard of Albuquerque, NM and recently of Monterey, California; sisters, Josie Chavez, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and Erlinda Mirabal of Gallup, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Chris, Kevin, Priscilla, Ursula, and Jon-Pierre and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Francisca, Noah and Connon. Juan's favorite words were "un dia la vez"; "one day at a time," and truly lived his life one day at a time. He lived in Grants all his life. With the help of his wife, Tillie, they built their home, raised a family and lived in their home for almost 70 years. Juan worked in the uranium mines and was self-employed. He loved music and was a great dancer. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Theresa Catholic School, 400 East High Street, Grants, New Mexico, 87020. The children always helped him at daily Mass, handing him the missal and opening the song book. When his friends and relatives would leave or someone helped him he always said "God Bless You", "que Dios los Bendiga". His last words were "God Bless You", to his daughter. There will be a Family Memorial in Grants, New Mexico on Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00AM followed by the Mass at 10:30AM.
