AVERY -- ROBERT LEE (BOB) Age 95, went home to be with his Lord on December 5, 2011. Bob was born in May, Oklahoma on January 18, 1916 to Robert Lee Avery and Hazel Dean Avery. He met his future bride Corinne Freeman in the spring of 1939, and they were married on December 30, 1939 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. They moved to Albuquerque in 1960 where he worked with Allied Century 21 Realtors until he retired. He was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1974 where he served as usher. Bob is survived by Corinne, his wife of almost 72 years; son Bill Avery and wife Karen, son Kelly Avery and wife Jo; grandchildren Laurel Cummings and husband Joey, Denise Moore and husband Jason, Jason Avery and wife Jenifer, Jennifer Avery and Chris Avery; and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service honoring Bob will be held on December 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions honoring Bob may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87111.

BACA -- FRED JR. Age 60 of Los Lunas, NM passed away Saturday December 3, 2011. He was born on September 6, 1951 in Albuquerque, NM to Fred and Eduvigen Baca Sr. Mr. Baca was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Holy Family Parish. Surviving are his father Fred Baca Sr.; his four sons, Fred Baca III, Richard (Judith) Baca, Andy (Jasmine) Baca, Randy (Angeline) Baca; grandchildren, Jassmine, Cassandra, Randy Jr., Jimmy, Santiago, Richard Jr., Joshua and Andy Jr.; mother of his children, Sylvia Baca; two sisters, Dorothy (Albert) Gonzales and Lorraine Bowen; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Eduvigen Baca in 1993 and one brother. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at Holy Family Parish, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, and Interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery. BACA -- MARY I. Age 69, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 6, 2011, with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Baca is survived by her children, Sandra Romero, Johnny Baca, Linda Khader and husband, George, and David Gonzales; her mother, Antonia Garcia; sister, Nancy Romero and husband, Prescilliano; brother, Louie Baca and wife, Rita; her grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Veronica, Valene, Katherine, and Lawrence; and three great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. BARTEAU -- S. MICHEL Beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011. He was born in Corning, NY on May 16, 1962, lived in San Francisco and New York City, before residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the mid 1990's. Michel was a talented and creative soul. He was a fabulous cook, gifted couturier, musician, and dancer. He studied ballet under Margaret Craske and Diana Byer, and was a principal dancer for the Wilkes-Barre Ballet, New York Theatre Ballet, and New Mexico Ballet Company. He possessed a strong sense of family and a great sense of humor. Michel was preceded in death by his father, Charles Richard Barteau. He is survived by his mother, Joan Barteau; his cats Oliver and Ollie; his sisters Lisa Cordova, Debbie Barteau, and Diane Barteau-Pierson; his aunt, Gail Spangenberg; and numerous other loving relatives. A Memorial Service for Michel will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Albuquerque on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 10:00 am. FETROW -- GEORGE ALBERT 1913-2011 Age 97, a resident of Belen was born Dec. 22, 1913 in Belmond, IA and died, Thursday, Dec. 1. George started his working career taking jobs in retail sales and operating his own businesses in north central and north western Iowa. He joined Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company as a sales person in 1955. George stayed with Mutual for 24 years, and retired as Director of Sales Training in the San Francisco office in 1978. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aileen Joyce (deceased, 1952). The surviving family members are his wife of 77 years, Betty; sister Jean McNulty; son Richard Lee Fetrow of Waldport, OR; and daughter Carol Joan Geihs of San Luis Obispo, CA.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was always busy with a hobby of some sort from candy making to woodworking. Until his death he and Betty could be found dancing three to four times a week in the Belen and Albuquerque Senior Centers. GARLING -- EDLA MARIE "DUTCHY" May 23, 1923 to December 1, 2011 Edla was born and raised in Belen, New Mexico, the daughter of Carl and Hilda Halama. Preceding her death were her brothers, Norbert and Lars, and her husband, Howard Garling. Dutchy grew up with her dearest, life-long friends Rosemary, Annelies, Jean and Margaret. She was editor of the Belen High School newspaper and wrote articles for the local news. She attended Cal State Fullerton in California in 1941. Because of the start of World War II, Edla returned to the Duke City to attend the University of New Mexico. She graduated in 1945. Edla was an active member in Alpha Delta Pi sorority and a life-long supporter of the Lobos. Edla married Howard in 1952 and raised their sons Tim and Karl in Albuquerque. Edla was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a dedicated volunteer at the UNM Rehabilitation Center. Dutchy was involved with her husband in establishing Western State Bank in 1971. As a couple, Edla and Howard loved traveling to Europe, Hawaii and the Bahamas. They especially enjoyed the time spent at the family cabin at El Valle Escondido near Taos, New Mexico. Edla enjoyed swimming, tennis and playing many rounds of golf at Four Hills Country Club. She spent countless hours playing her baby grand piano. Her favorite piece was Beethoven's For Elise. She resided in Albuquerque until 2008, moving to Arvada, Colorado, to be close to her oldest son Tim. He and his wife Sandy and their sons Jason, Kyle and Andrew provided many hours of love and attention. Her youngest son Karl and wife Cindy of Farmington, New Mexico truly loved Edla. They advised her on many important business decisions and were always supportive in many ways. Their daughters Kayla and Cassidy and husband Matthew Holguin and their daughter Olivia (Edla's great grand-daughter), all residing in Las Cruces, will forever miss "Grandma Honey". A Memorial Service will be held in Albuquerque on a day in late spring or early summer of 2012.

GONZALES -- VICTORIANO MOISES "MOE" Born March 19, 1990 in Santa Fe was taken by his Lord on December 2, 2011. Moises will forever be remembered and lives on in the spirits of his family and friends, especially in his fiance and son to be, Zaidynn Moises Xander Byrne Gonzales. GRANFORS -- CARL E. Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died Monday, December 5, 2011. He was born in Pontiac, MI on July 9, 1920. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vera; children, Melanie (James Ito), Carl and Stephanie; and grandchildren, January Newland, Autumn Waite (Joshua), and Cody G. Karr. During WWII, Carl served in the U.S. Army as a Major stationed in England where he met and married Vera. Upon his return to the United States, he began his career with General Motors Truck and Coach as an Electrical Engineer in Pontiac, MI. Shortly after retiring after 37 years with GM, Carl and Vera moved to Albuquerque. Carl enjoyed spending his time with his family. HOFFMAN -- VINCENT T. Vince was born the ninth child of Albert and Elizabeth Hoffman in Savage, Montana on August 21, 1933, and passed away on December 3, 2011. He graduated from high school in Savage, Montana. He also received a BA in History at Carroll College in Helena, Montana and an MA in Educational Administration from UNM in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Vince spent his entire professional career in education as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and school principal. He spent eleven of those years in Montana and the last twenty eight in the Albuquerque Public Schools, including serving at Sandia High School, Highland High School and the Career Enrichment Center; he retired in 1993. Vince was a very devout Catholic, a very loyal Democrat, two traits he inherited from his father; and he always pulled for "the underdog." He was a proud American but loved to travel to other countries to enjoy and respect the culture and tradition of those nations. LYNN -- MYKEL The family of Mykel Lynn is saddened to announce the passing of their beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was 45 years old. Mykel is a 13th generation New Mexican, and died peacefully surrounded by her loving family members on Saturday, December 3rd in the morning. Mykel was a successful businesswoman, and a vital partner in the family business. A free and creative spirit, Mykel spent much of her 20's and 30's traveling to England, France, Spain, throughout North America and to China, also residing in New York, California, Texas and Colorado. Her business interests brought her back to New Mexico in 2000, ultimately settling in Corrales, New Mexico. From a close supportive family, Mykel looked to her father, Ricardo Chaves as her mentor, her mother Margaret Cavanagh as a constant source of strength, love and guidance, and her siblings, Richard, Kathleen, Barbara and Linda as her partners, advisors and friends. She adored her nieces and nephews Richard, Morgan, Ally and Nick and had just welcomed her newest nephew, Cash to the family in February of this year. In her 30's and 40's she learned a love for horse-racing from her close cousin, Ben Chavez, and raced her horses throughout New Mexico, Texas, Arizona and Colorado. Mykel is survived by her parents, Ricardo and Margaret; her sister Kathleen and her son Cash; her brother Richard and his wife Kara, and their children, Richard, Morgan, Ally, and Nick; her sister Barbara and her husband Ken Griffith; her sister Linda. To all who knew and loved her she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. MCCLURE -- MARIAN Born March 8, 1929 in York, Nebraska, daughter of Fred and Bertha Meyer, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Albuquerque. Marian enjoyed her years teaching in Europe and living among the local people while traveling in Spain, Italy, and Germany on weekends; and longer trips to Holland, England, Tangier, Portugal, France and West Berlin. Back in the states, Marian enjoyed her summer vacations in Minnesota racing her sailboat on Bald Eagle Lake. Racing ended when her husband, Gordon was transferred to Denver and the family moved to a new home in a community in the Cherry Creek School District. Marian was involved with planning and organizing a new school in the neighborhood. She was elected first president of the PTA and worked toward involving the community in use of the building and understanding the concept of education in an open space classroom. Again a transfer brought the family to Albuquerque and again Marian spent time as a volunteer in the office at Del Norte High School. She always enjoyed playing bridge and now could join ACBL, and attain the rank of Bronze Life Master. Marian was a member of Faith in Christ Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council as Financial Secretary for two years. Marian is survived by her daughter, Mary of Lake Forest, CA; three nieces, Gail Mears of Littleton CO, Susan Schrader of Northglenn, CO, and Barbara Duncanson of South Bend, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 31 years, Gordon; and sisters, Lois Anderson and Ellen Kaeding. NYS -- ROBERT ELMER Age 81, of Rio Rancho, passed away November 29, 2011 at home after a long battle with cancer. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Cecile (Pufall) and Elmer J Nys. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly Jane Turner Nys; daughter, Carol Mullenioux and husband, Michael of Olathe, KS; son, CPT Thomas Robert Nys, US Army National Guard, of Riverside, CA; grandson, Aaron Mullenioux; sister, Colleen Zich and husband, Jerry; brother, Stephen Nys and wife, Lynn, all of Green Bay; and many other family and friends. Bob served in the United States Marines before receiving his BS degree at St. Norbert College, West DePere, Wisconsin. After graduation, he was commissioned as an infantry officer into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. In 1957, he joined The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan and held various marketing positions in several states before retiring after 34 years. Mr. Nys was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Bob was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Fourth Degree Faithful Navigator of Pope John Paul I Assembly 1905. PAYDEN -- MARIAN W. Age 85, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Payden, loving step-mother of Scott and Kristin Payden and Craig. PRESLEY -- ALTON 1924-2011 Age 87, a resident of Veguita, NM passed away on Saturday December 3, 2011. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Alton was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse E. and Verna Anderson Presley and 13 brothers and sisters. Alton is survived by his loving wife, Minnie Presley; one daughter; and one grandson. He is also survived by many numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Public Visitation will be held at the San Isidro Catholic Church in Veguita, NM on Wednesday, December 7, at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held at the San Isidro Catholic Church on Thursday, December 8, at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10.00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date. PROTHERO -- LIBBY Age 75, Beloved mother, sister, nana and friend peacefully danced her way to heaven on Saturday, November 26, 2011. She is survived by sons Steven, Michael and wife Carrie, grandson Alex; daughter Tammy Lane and husband Patrick, granddaughter Bella; sister Kathi Murray and husband Tracy; brother Donald Paton; and dear friend Diana Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and brother John Paton. Libby, a renowned dance choreographer, teacher and entertainer along with Bob owned Dance World Studio. She travelled the world teaching Ballroom, Hawaiian and Belly Dancing. She is loved for her vivacious personality, beaming smile and kind heart. "Pineapple" Libby and "Coconut" Bob will be missed. RUSSO -- A. HELEN (FRATTONE) Age 95, widow of Ben J. Russo, died Nov. 30, 2011 at Riverside Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 4, 1916 in Ardmore, PA to the late Joe and Katarina Frattone, the second of eight children. She attended local schools, was an honor student despite starting school only speaking Italian. In 1937 she married the love of her life, Ben. In 1941 they relocated to Los Alamos, NM, and eventually to Albuquerque, where they spent many happy years. Helen worked in the medical insurance field for many years, but her most rewarding job was that of a mother, wife, grandmother and friend. Helen was quick with a joke, sharp as a whip, and the glue that held her family together. In addition to her parents and her husband Ben, Helen was preceded in death by her two sons Steve and Mark, her beloved siblings and many friends. Helen is survived by her six grandchildren, Chris and his wife Frances, Joe and his wife Michelle, Mat and his wife Amy, Aaron and his wife Crystal, Kirstin, Rena and her husband Jeff. She also leaves behind the joys of life, her 16 great grandchildren to cherish her memory; her daughter-in-law Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Masonicare Hospice and the 3rd floor staff at Riverside Health Care Center for being so kind, professional and loving. Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation to celebrate Helen's life on Wednesday, December 7th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Albuquerque, NM. STONE -- ROBERT H. Age 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, December 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Suzanne Sauter Stone of Albuquerque, NM; son, David Henry Stone of Loves Park, IL; daughter, Diane Stone Potter of Davis, CA; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harry O. and Frances Stone. He was born in Chicago, IL in 1925, entered the United States Army Air Force following high school, and served for two years during WWII as a turret gunner on B-24's. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees at DePaul University in Chicago and a JD Degree in Law. Bob taught in the Chicago and Albuquerque Public Schools for many years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid gun enthusiast. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be celebrated on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel. Ennichment will follow. TRUJILLO -- ACACIO C. JR. "CASEY" Age 70, a resident of Elephant Butte, NM, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nadine Trujillo; daughters, Cathy Colvin and husband Brian, Denise Diaz and husband Angel, and Darlene Trujillo; grandchildren, Mariana Andersen Diaz, Catherine Diaz, Elena Diaz, and Luke Leffingwell. Casey was born in Sholle, NM. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 28, 1959 and proudly served his country until 1965. He owned and operated Electronic Devices Co. Inc. for 25 years. Casey retired and moved to Elephant Butte where he was active at the American Legion Post 44 and the VFW until his death. He was elected Commander of the Post in 2004. UNGLAUB -- GAIL Age 88, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to the Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2011. She is survived by one daughter, Roberta and husband, Roland Lackey of Cuba, NM; three grandsons, Karl (Callie) Lackey of Tampa, FL, Robert (Darcie) Lackey of Amarillo, TX, Michael (Melisa) Lackey of Torrance, CA; and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Kaden and Caia-Jolie Lackey. Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Albert and her parents, George and Rhubena Fehr. She served faithfully as a member of Sandia Baptist Church. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, with Pastor Jack Strickland officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel.
