BERNARD -- JOHN JR. Died September 17, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. John was born in 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee to Mary and John Bernard. John played guitar for the Wilmington, Delaware rock group The Enfields during the mid 1960's. The Enfields rose to the top of the Wilmington charts with hits such as "In The Eyes Of The World" and "She Already Has Somebody/I'm For Things You Do." John studied jazz at the Berkeley School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He spent a few years performing in Newark, Delaware, before moving to Albuquerque, where he was widely regarded in the Albuquerque music scene. John had an avid interest in flying, starting with radio controlled model aircraft, many of which he built himself. He went on to get his private pilot license. John continued to improve his flying skills by obtaining Instrument and Commercial Ratings. John offered charter service from Albuquerque to the Southwest area. Even after John was no longer able to pilot aircraft, he continued to fly RC aircraft with a local flying club in Albuquerque. John's insightful wit will be missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his three brothers, Bill, Tom and Dick. John will be interred at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Father Rick Greenwood will deliver the Episcopal Rite of Burial. The family will hold a Memorial service for John in Wilmington, Delaware on a date in early October, still to be determined.
