ARCHULETA -- PAUL F. Age 45, a resident of Albuquerque, passed way on July 10, 2011. Paul is survived by his mother, Lily Archuleta; his sister, Valerie Saavedra and David (Sparky) Austin; his brother, Danny Archuleta; his life partner, David Epstein; nieces and nephews, Alannah, Dana, Danae, and Michael; special aunt, Mary F. ASHLEY -- JACK D. Age 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 surrounded by loving family and friends. Jack is survived by two sons, Rodney Ashley and Curtis Ashley; and one daughter, Debra Beaudreau; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Leona Jean. Jack is once again with the love of his life in the presence of the Lord. Jack was a loving and dedicated husband and father and will be greatly missed by all. ATKINSON -- MICHAEL VINCENT Age 48, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, passed away suddenly July 11, 2011. He is survived by his spouse of 28 years, Jody; son, Jerrod, and wife Amy of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter, Rashawn of Albuquerque; and Tyler Parreco of Fort Collins, Colorado, who he loved as a son. Mike's mother Connie, and his in-laws, Jerry and Norma Hall, who lives in Albuquerque. Mike's brother Dan lives in Parker, Colorado; and his sister, Christine, and husband, Jeff Foss, who lives in Albuquerque. Mike was blessed with one nephew, seven nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Mike's father, Paul, preceded him in death in 2010. Mike grew up primarily in the Chelwood Foursquare Church, Albuquerque, later becoming Executive Pastor of The Journey Fellowship. In 1982 Mike began his fulfilling career with Southwest Airlines. While he was certainly a loving, doting, responsible husband and father, at heart he was a genuine "Jeremiah Johnson." He loved hunting, fishing--anything done outdoors in the woods. Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at East Gate Church, 12120 Copper Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87123, with Pastor Derek Witt of The Journey Fellowship officiating. BACA. CARMEN MARIE Our beloved mother and grandmother -- Carmen Marie Baca, 95, went to meet her Lord on Monday, July 11, 2011. Carmen was born in Corrales, NM on December 1, 1915. Carmen was the glue that held her huge family together. She was dearly loved and her passing will leave a big void in our hearts. Carmen is survived by her sons, Jimmy Baca and wife Betty, Tony Baca and wife Delores, Donald Baca and wife Jenny; daughters, Virginia Ramirez and husband Martin, Joan Whiting, and husband David, and Mary Ellen Blackmon and husband, David; 26 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren, and 1 great great great grandchild. CAMPOS -- GILBERT ANTHONY Age 53, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque NM passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 9, 2011. Mr. Campos was born on July 21, 1957. Mr. Campos was preceded in death by his parents Tomas and Lillian Campos; his brothers, Alfredo Campos, Lawrence Campos and Sonny Campos. Mr. Campos is survived by his ex-wife, Patricia Campos; his step-son, Juan F. Quintana; his daughter, Trisha N. Irvin, husband, Nick Irvin; his only granddaughter, Nyasia Irvin; his son, Anthony B. Campos, all from Albuquerque NM. Gilbert is also survived by his ex-sister-in-law, Wendy, and her husband Paul; his nephews, Geoffrey Herrera and Sam Strittmatter; his ex-brother-in-law David, wife Noreen, and nephew Jason Quintana; ex-brother-in-law Steve, wife Janet, and nephews Noah, Steven, and niece Nicole Quintana. Mr. Campos is also survived by four brothers, Jerry and his four sons, Estevan and daughter Courtney, Michael and wife Patricia C, and children, Joshua and Hope Campos, as well as her two children. Henry Campos, his wife Maria, and their children also from Albuquerque NM. He is also survived by his former girlfriend, Pauline Lovato, her daughters, Elaine and husband Ronnie, and daughter Stephanie, Amber and Leeann, and Jr. Garcia. Jennifer and, her daughters Audrey and Nicole, and daughter Delilah, and husband Jason Donovan, and Mariah Romero. Pauline Sister, Joella Kavanugh and her sons Julian, and Daniel Bencomo. Mr. Campos was a godfather to his grandsons Dominic Gonzales and Jacob Brito. Gilbert attended Lincoln Jr. High and Albuquerque High School, where he played basketball and baseball. Gilbert lettered in basketball and was voted MVP for the Albuquerque High Bulldogs. His love of sports continued throughout his lifetime, playing baseball and basketball for many city leagues. Gilbert was an avid sports enthusiast and loved the New York Yankees and Chicago Bears. Gilbert was very proud of his sports Bobble Heads collection, continuously adding to his sports memorabilia. Gilbert was a loving father, and grandfather and friend to many. He was well liked by his co-workers at Sears Logistics, where he worked for over 13 years. Gilbert was a very dedicated and valued employee. The tragic loss of Gilbert Campos will be felt by all who knew and loved him. A visitation was held Wednesday. July 13, 2011. A Rosary will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday July 14, 2011, followed by a Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church. There will be a reception to follow at Henry Campos's residence. CHAVEZ -- THOMAS W. Aka Bill, was called home at the age of 66, from his residence in Albuquerque, NM, on July 11, 2011. Bill was born on August 21, 1945, in Gallup, NM. He was very much a lover of his family, a proud husband, father, and grandfather. Bill was also a professing Christian, a patriot, and proud to have served his country during Vietnam. He is beloved and greatly missed of his family and many friends. FITZ-GERALD -- GERALD JR. Was born July 2, 1939 in Houston, TX to Gerald and Elizabeth "Betty" (Eyler) Fitz-Gerald, who raised their only son in Midland, TX. He died peacefully at home of natural causes on July 9, 2011, surrounded by family and friends, in Albuquerque, NM, following an eight-month battle with cancer. An accomplished artist who worked in numerous mediums, primarily watercolor in his early painting periods and most notably monotypes later in his career, Gerald's still-life subjects and Southwestern landscape paintings were hailed as "hauntingly sensual" by The Albuquerque Journal circa 2002. Gerald printed with close friends at New Grounds Workshop in Albuquerque and served on various art acquisition committees and in donation capacities for the Albuquerque Museum. Gerald was also proud of his tenure as the President of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation in the 1990s. Gerald grew up in Midland, TX, attending St. Edward's High School in Austin before attending Rockhurst College in Kansas City. Gerald returned to Austin to earn a B.A. in English from the University of Texas, where he was an active member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Following one year in pursuit of a law degree at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Gerald moved to Albuquerque in 1963. The New Mexican city is where "Gerry" met his future wife, Dorothy Ann Burke, and established his life as a trust officer for Albuquerque National Bank, his employer for nearly 35 years under numerous banners, including SunWest, Boatmen's, and eventually Bank of America. He is survived by his son, Gerald III ("Trey") and daughter-in-law Rachel, residents of Salt Lake City; daughter, Erin Elizabeth, and granddaughter, Catherine Ann, of Albuquerque; and innumerable friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy, in October 2007. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at French-University Chapel. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM. GARCIA -- SIFREDO MARCOS Age 73, a lifelong resident of Sandia Park and Albuquerque, died Sunday, July 10, 2011. He is survived by his son, Christopher Garcia of Albuquerque and two grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Garcia and wife, Isabel, Jose Magdaleno Garcia and wife, Priscilla, Herman Garcia and wife, Lorraine, brother, Edisteo Garcia and brother-in-law, Ben Baldwin; along with many nieces and nephews. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by son, Michael Garcia; brothers and sisters, Beatrice Garcia, Bobbie Baldwin, Nancy Garcia, Solomon Garcia and Cristobal Garcia. Mr. Garcia was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church in Sandia Park New Mexico and worked at Smith's grocery store for many years. GUEST -- JOHN D. February 17, 1917 - July 10, 2011 John was born in Cole, OK, on February 17, 1917, and during the Depression and Dust Bowl days moved with his family from Cole to west Texas and the Estancia Valley in New Mexico. The family eventually settled in Albuquerque where John graduated from St. Mary's High School and then attended Loyola of the South in New Orleans, LA on a football scholarship. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps as a flight instructor and pilot. He and Sophie Bubany were married in Gallup, NM in 1943. After the war, John pursued his love of flying as a pilot with United Airlines. He and Sophie raised their six children in Gallup where he served as President of the Merchants Bank / Sunwest Bank for over 25 years. He was an active Rotarian and promoted New Mexico through his service with the New Mexico Amigos. After retiring John and Sophie divided their time between Wickenburg and Pinetop, AZ before moving back to Albuquerque in 2004. John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sophie; children, Michael Guest (Sandy), Phyllis Bachhuber (Fred), Ellen Guest, Regina Guest-Rupert (Mark), Christopher Guest (Suzanne), Marigail Littlefield; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa Sei, Rita Curran (Johnny), and Regina Moran. He was preceded in death by brother, Patrick F. Guest, and sister, Mary O. Bachechi. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011, at 10:00 a. m. followed by celebration of the Mass at 10:30 a.m., at Aquinas Newman Center on UNM's campus, 1815 Las Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM. HERRERA -- JUSTO A. 1951 - 2011 Justo A. Herrera, age 60, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Justo was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, grandpa and uncle and was dearly loved by everyone. He loved the time he spent playing with his grandchildren. Justo was born in California and loved the beach and the ocean. Even though he was an Albuquerque native, he longed to be at the beach. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and family gatherings. Justo was preceded in death by his father, Justo Herrera; nephew, Matthew Herrera; and brother-in-law, Marcos Sanchez. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dolores Herrera; daughter, Alisha Herrera (Eric); mother, Virginia Herrera; step-children, Amos and Lashawnda Wilson, Tamara and Michael Archuleta, Allison and Roy File and Rocky and Lisa Wilson; five brothers, Gilbert Herrera and wife, Olivia, Ray Herrera and wife, Peggy, Michael Herrera and wife, Shawna, Edward Herrera, and James Herrera and wife, Carol; and one sister, Dorothy Sanchez. PADILLA -- MARTINA D. Age 90, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on July 13, 2011 at home with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Padilla is survived by her children, Eloy Padilla Jr., Josephine Padilla, Lorraine P. Spradling, Hortencia Torres and husband, Pete, John Padilla and wife, Angela, and Kris Garcia; her grandchildren, Tina and husband, Steven, Gillian and husband, Wayne, Price and wife, Kathy, Alexandra and husband, Alfred, Sara and husband, Jason, Andrea, Joell and husband, Lawrence, Japhen and wife, Sarah, Johnnah, Sarah Jennifer and husband, Faisal, Tomas, Erin, and Brandan; her great-grandchildren, Cory, Sonny, Nicholas, Luke, Caleb, Leah, Alana, Alfred IV, Marley, and Moses; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. STARR -- PATRICK E. Age 43, passed away July 2, 2011, at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by his children, twins Kyler and Kenzie; mother, Dianne Starr and Jess Hernandez; father, Edmund and wife, Annie; sister, Melissa Naham and husband, Jason; brother, Christopher Starr and wife, Stacy; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. STEPHENSON -- MURIEL L., Ph.D Age 88, longtime resident of Albuquerque, lately of Tucson, AZ. Passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011, in Tucson. She was born in St. Paul Minnesota Jan 15, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Jacob E. and Daisy V. Janzen of Moorhead, MN. She was the wife of the late Lt. Col. Lonnie F. Stephenson, Jr. (United States Army), and the sister of the late Robert B. Janzen, Ft. Worth, Tx. She leaves as survivors her sister, Dorothy Janzen of Phoenix. Her son, Lonnie F. Stephenson III of Tucson; daughter, Melissa Stephenson, Queens, NY; two grandchildren, Jacob P. Stephenson, U.S. Army Fort Benning, Georgia and Haley R. Stephenson, Tucson. After completing a B.A. Degree from Concordia College in Moorhead MN, Muriel briefly taught in Montana. She then joined the U.S. Foreign Service to work in post-war Germany in Nuremburg and Frankfurt where she facilitated transfer of displaced persons. It was there she met her future husband, "Steve" who was stationed there in the service. Subsequently upon his transfer, they married in Oakland, CA. As a service wife she moved many times, including a tour in Taiwan. In Grand Forks North Dakota, Muriel completed her education at the University of North Dakota earning an M.A. and Ph.D. in English Literature. They moved to Albuquerque in 1969 where she taught in the English Dept. at the University of Albuquerque for a number of years. In 1980 she went to MN to be near her parents as her father was seriously ill. At that time she accepted the position of Academic Dean at St. Thomas University. Upon her father's death, the family returned to Albuquerque where she returned to teaching at the University of Albuquerque. After retirement, Muriel continued her special interest in the fine arts, music and theatre. She traveled widely and attended events in New York and elsewhere always supporting the arts in Albuquerque. She served on the Board of the Arts Commission and on the Board of the Library in Albuquerque. Because of failing health, Muriel in 2008 moved to Tucson to be near her son, Lonnie. It was in Tucson that she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 3, 2011. Muriel was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, teacher and a staunch friend. She assumed all these roles with dedication, feeling and dignity always striving to do her best despite encountering many obstacles on the way. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 E. Chelwood Blvd, NE, Alb. NM, on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 10:00 am.

TIGER -- AMBER PATTERSON Was born April 4, 1977 in the city she came to love, Albuquerque. She traveled as far away as Germany but she came back through ABQ on her way to Heaven. She is survived by three children she adored, Thomas 16, John Michael 12, and Justice 11. Her parents, Mike and Wanda Patterson, will miss their "Peep". She is also survived by a sister and two brothers. Amber left this earth on July 9, 2011.

TORMA -- KATALIN MARIA Age 77, died Monday, July 11, 2011. She was born as Katalin Maria Dobovari on February 23, 1934 in Budapest, Hungary. Katalin graduated in 1952 from Patrona Hungaria High School in Budapest, Hungary. She took voice lessons with renowned instructors in Budapest, Hungary and in Zurich, Switzerland. She married Dr. Arpad E. Torma on September 24, 1960 in Zurich, Switzerland. Katalin received her certificate in Political sciences in 1976 from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada, and completed various accounting and income tax law courses in Canada and the United States. She received the diploma of Enrolled Agent from the Internal Revenue Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1998. Mrs. Torma was associated with H&R Block Co. in Socorro, NM; Idaho Falls, ID; Leesburg, FL and in Albuquerque, NM. In addition she was a bookkeeper in doctors and attorneys' offices in Idaho Falls, ID and Socorro, NM. Additionally, she was a Realtor in Socorro, NM. Katalin sang in operas and choirs in Budapest, Hungary, Zurich, Switzerland, Vancouver, BC, Canada, Quebec City, Canada, and Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her son, Steven C. Torma and his wife, Patricia A. Torma, and their children, Nicholas P. Torma and Jacqueline M. Torma; and her son, Gabriel A. Torma, and his wife, Michelle C. Torma and their son, Zachary S. Torma; as well as her sister, Elisabeth Kecskes, and her husband, Dr. Andras Kecskes, and their sons, Balazs Kecskes and Kornel Kecskes, residing in Hungary. A Rosary will be held Friday, July 15, 2011, 1:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial following at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho. WESTERFIELD -- CHRIS Chris, age 50, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 7, 2011. He was born March 21, 1961 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chris graduated from Valley High School in 1979 and he joined the Army National Guard. Chris loved sports and played baseball and football. He enjoyed working on cars and helping his friends and family. He was "Happy go Lucky" and didn't take things too seriously, just "one day at a time". He is survived by his parents Clyde and Betty; brother, Robby, and wife, Terry, and their sons, Robert, Forest, and Blake; brother, Jerry; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many, many friends. Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Dave Goodnight will be presiding.
