GALLEGOS -- Epifania Gallegos, age 98, beloved mother and grandmother, completed her journey here on earth and entered into Eternal Life, Tuesday, December 28, 2010. A rosary will be recited this evening (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m., also at the Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque. HOWERTON -- Walter B. Howerton lost his best friend when his wife Barbara died in 1998. On Christmas evening 2010 he joined her. Walter was born in McAlister, OK in 1920. He attended the University of Oklahoma. He and Barbara met while working at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City, and they married in 1943. Walter then joined the Army Signal Corps. In 1949 he and Barbara moved to Albuquerque, and he was hired by Sandia National Laboratories. He worked for Sandia until he retired in 1986. He traveled extensively in his job. They lived for a year in Las Vegas during nuclear testing at Mercury, Nevada, and he also traveled often to Kauai and Southeast Asia during the Viet Nam war. He specialized in calibration, and thoroughly enjoyed his work at Sandia. Walter loved working on his sports cars, and raced MG's during the late 1950's. He and Barbara both enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, and Walter was extremely close to becoming a "Life Master" when his memory wouldn't allow him to play anymore. Walter was very well liked, and was always a gentleman. He was a wonderful, kind and loving man, who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter Shelby Majors and her husband Dick of Fort Collins, CO; and his sister Mary Elizabeth McDonald of Albuquerque. Cremation will take place, and no services are planned.

PLACENCIO -- Sara Chavez Placencio went to be with Her Lord Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Albuquerque at the age of 80. Sara Placencio was born and raised in Albuquerque. Sara was a longtime parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a Secular Fanciscan and an active member for many years. She had a great devotion for her Lord and her best friend the Blessed Mother. Sara prayed daily up to the end of her life and was heard often singing songs to the Lord. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; Albert L. Placencio; father Pedro Chavez; mother Concepcion Chavez; sisters, Rosie Martinez, Belen Larribas, Reyitas Sanchez and Rita Ochoa; sons, Chris Placencio, Raul Morales, Abraham Morales; grandson Frank Fair III; and great-grandson Cyrus Placencio; She is survived by children, Albert O. Placencio Jr. and wife, Roberta, Jack O. Placencio, Rose Madrid and husband, Arturo, Pete Placencio, Jacinto Placencio and wife Lola, Abraham Placencio, and Sarah "Sister" Placencio; She had 24 grandchildren: Angela, Catalina, Veronica, Victoria, Albert III, Roseanne, Matthew, Monique, Christina, Junelle, Jacob, Pete, Shirae, Joshua, Janessa, Melissa, Aaron, Breana, Samantha, Francisco, Carlos, Gabriel, Angelica and Robert Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Crecencia Dominguez and Lucy Geist; and 36 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews , nieces and friends. Visitation for Mrs. Placencio will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Salazar and Sons Mortuary. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:00 p.m., Dec. 30, 2010 at Salazar and Sons. The Mass will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Janessa, Melissa, Shirae, Joshua, Gabriel, Albert III and Aaron. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grand and great-grandchildren. REBARCHIK -- Betty Ann, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, passed on December 27, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frank; five children; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her four siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Betty; and brother Wesley. Betty Ann had an everlasting love and cared for everyone; she was known and loved by many. RODARTE -- James Edwin Rodarte, age 20, died suddenly in Albuquerque on December 21, 2010. He was a student at Cesar Chavez Charter School. He is survived by his mother Jacqueline Perea; two grandmothers, Susanne Perera and Corine Rodarte; one grandfather Antonio Perea; two brothers, Matthew Perera and Andrew Perera; three sisters, Keyanna Rodarte, Melanie Griego and Brenee Rodarte, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. RODARTE -- James Thomas Rodarte, age 53, died suddenly in Albuquerque on December 21, 2010. He was a life long resident of Albuquerque and was self Employed. He is survived by his mother Corina Rodarte; two sons Matthew Perea and Andrew Perea and a deceased son James Rodarte; three daughters, Keyanna Rodarte, Melaniae Grioego and Brenee Rodarte; two brothers, Clarence Rodarte and Norman Saavedra; nine grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles and nephews; and one niece.
