BECKER -- Archie Jake Becker, born in Beulah, ND, November 16, 1941, passed away in Albuquerque, NM, November 7, 2010. Preceded in death by parents; Jake Becker and Rose Oberlander Becker and nephew Jack D. Mays. Survived by two daughters Melody and Betty Becker; sisters Lucille and husband Richard Mays, Goldie Becker, JoAnne Becker, Carole and husband Steve Hartman; brothers, James and wife Barbara Becker, Edwin "Hank" and wife Deborah Becker; four nieces and four nephews. Archie J. Becker served in the US Army from 1961 to 1964. Served in Korea and was discharged with Honors. He moved to Albuquerque, NM in June 2004, he loved family, BBQ's walking and the views of the mountains. He enjoyed fishing, outdoors, guitar and writing songs. BUELL -- Katherine Morbella Spates Buell, 83, died on November 5, 2010. Katherine is survived by her children, Donna Smith, Janice DeLorenzo and husband, Donald, Nancy Clatanoff, James Spates and wife, Barbara, Jacqueline Jayne and husband, Michael, Cynthia Gilbert and husband, Don; grandchildren, Tonya Strange, Andrea Jones, Sarah (Katie) DeLorenzo, Stephen Spates, Ryan Spates, Christin Lindsey, Jill Rodriguez, Jeremy Spates, Loren Jayne, Heather McKnight, Kimberly Rushing, Travis Gilbert, Brett Gilbert and 11 great-grandchildren. Step-children, Reed Buell and wife Barbara, Linn Buell and wife Laurie; step-grandchildren, Tamara Nichelson, Brent Buell, Taryn Lower, Courtney Custer, Chelsea Layman, Lindsey Groft, Allison Popa, and 11 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Waldo Seckman Spates; her second husband, Harold Chapin Buell; her son, Waldo Seckman Spates, Jr.; her sisters, Josephine Morbella and Mary Leeper; and brother, John Morbella. Katherine lived and worked in New Mexico from 1951 and retired from American Bank of Commerce in 1983. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Katherine loved her life and lived it to its fullest each day. She loved her family, her many, many dear friends, Lobo basketball, the casino, an occasional margarita, and a good piece of chocolate. A celebration of Katherine's life will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona N.E., with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. BURKHART -- Victor C. Burkhart Longtime New Mexican resident Victor C. Burkhart passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6. He was born 1947 in Toledo, Ohio and raised in Montpelier, Ohio. He attended Ohio State University where he played for his beloved "Buckeyes" as a defensive tackle on the football team. In 1966 he served in the Merchant Marines where he traveled extensively through the south China seas. In 1969 he moved to Albuquerque where he met the love of his life, Catherine, and worked as a project manager for Albuquerque's premier home builders. He also lived in Denver from 1984-1996 before retiring to New Mexico; he lived in Los Luns. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Catherine Annetta; his mother Margaret Burkhart; his brother Richard Burkhart; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dominic Annetta and Michelle Begdidier and many relatives and friends near and far. One of Victor's passions was cooking and his dishes were legendary among his friends. He was an amateur historian, film aficionado, accomplished woodworker and solar greenhouse builder and had a deep abiding appreciation of "the blues" and Joseph Conrad. CONN -- Maurice Lee Conn, 67, on November 1, 2010, at 6:43pm, heard Carole Ann Conn, his wife of nearly 45 years, say that she loved him, and he smiled for the last time. Cancer took him far too soon. He was a treasure of a man, and he died knowing just how much he meant to so many. He is survived by his wife; and four children; his five grandchildren; and his twin sisters and their families. Maurice was known for his strong leadership skills and his quick wit as a Superintendent of Jonesville, Leslie, and Saline, Michigan, Public Schools. Maurice retired from the Public School system in 1993 and happily followed his wife's career to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he enjoyed and incorporated art from the region into the beautiful design of their home. Maurice was an artist himself and encouraged those around him that if you have a vision, with patience and perseverance, something beautiful will manifest itself. A private memorial for family and friends in Albuquerque and the West will be held Saturday November 27, 2010, from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Conn home. A second memorial for family and friends in Ohio and the East will take place in the Grelton Cemetery, Grelton, Ohio, where Maury will be laid to rest on May 28, 2011, at 2:00 pm. DUCH -- Norbert S. Duch, 82, a 20 year resident of Albuquerque, died November 6, 2010, after a brief illness. Born December 31, 1927 in Bayonne, New Jersey, he retired from the City of New York after 30 years as a Statistician. He served with Honor in the U. S. Army in WWII. Norbert was a 1950 graduate of the University of Denver. He and his wife, Pauline, came to Albuquerque after his retirement in 1990. He was an avid Stein collector, and a fan of the Denver Broncos, and a life-long fan of the New York Yankees. Norbert is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Pauline A. Duch, and a son, Matthew J. Duch. He is survived by his children, Gregory S. Duch and wife Eileen, Daniel N. Duch and wife HeeJoo, Deborah P. Duch and Joseph V. Duch and wife Elisa; his grandchildren Lauren, Melanie, Andrew, Julia and Alison Duch, and a host of other relatives and friends. DUNCAN -- Ronald L. Duncan, 49, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 6, 2010. Mr. Duncan is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years Mrs. Pamela V. DURAN -- Virginia A. Duran born April 16, 1913 in Norton, NM but lived most of her life in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents, Petrolino and Adela M. Anaya; husband, Alfredo Amado Duran; two brothers, Aniceto and Jose Anaya; two sisters, Cecelia Trujillo and Rebecca Montoya. She is survived by her three children; Jerry and wife, Mary Duran, Alicia and husband, Gene Guerin, Julius and wife, Donna Duran. She is also survived by three generations of grand, great and great-great grandchildren and her dedicated Paloma Blanca caregivers, Judith Duran and Diana. Virginia's active years were spent giving of her time to God in the Cursillo Movement, the Weekend of Christian Living Ministries and the Legion of Mary. She was promoter of the Miraculous Medal and a member of the Sacred Heart League of San Felipe Church. GIL -- Ovidia Georgina Gil, 85, resident of Albuquerque since 1966, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010. She is survived by her son, Virgilio Sergio Gil Sr. of Albuquerque; daughter, Zoe Trifina Gil of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Danny Lopez of Albuquerque, Karen Alvarez of Atlanta, GA, Virgil Gil Jr., Rachel Al-Omari, and Jason Gil - all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Jenee, Breanne, Alexis, Zoe, Zaid, and Enrique; and great-great-grandson, Josiah. HENDERSON -- James T. Henderson, 71, a sinner saved by God's Grace, went to see his Lord on November 7, 2010. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nona Mayhew and father, Leon Henderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Grace (Gay); three sons, Christopher and wife Terri, Kevin and wife Brawna, Kyle and wife Heather (all devout Christians); and seven grandchildren. He served as an Elder at Heights Christian and Fellowship Community Churches. He recently led the Prayer Ministry in his Connection Class at Hoffmantown Church, where he was an active member since the late 1980s. He was a strong advocate of the beliefs of our Founding Fathers and the precepts of our Constitution. He received his MSEE in Computer Engineering from UNM and worked on various national projects, including the Apollo program. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 2002, where he was a staff member, supervisor and manager. One hobby, before retirement and continuing afterward, was helping people with all aspects of computer use and troubleshooting. He loved music and played piano, organ and keyboard. A memorial service for James will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Hoffmantown Church, at 8888 Harper Drive NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. HENNER -- Barbara Baum Henner died on November 5, 2010, at the age of 81. She is survived by her three children, Erica Henner Max of Durango, Colorado; David G. Henner, Jr. of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and William L. Henner of Chicago, Illinois; as well as their spouses and eleven grandchildren. Barbara was well known in the New Mexico artist community for her dedication to art, especially painting. She was an accomplished watercolorist and signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society whose works have been shown both locally and nationally. One of her paintings is owned by the Pompidou Museum in Paris, and two of her paintings hang in the permanent collection of the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri. Barbara was raised in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. With her husband, David Henner, she raised a family, managed a hotel and opened The Yellow Bird-Montego Bay, Jamaica's first nightclub-while producing a prodigious quantity of art. She moved to New Mexico in 1979 and became active in the local art scene, exhibiting her works at the Yucca and Amapola galleries. She loved to travel and visited many exotic and interesting destinations around the world, often in the company of her grandchildren. Barbara will be dearly missed by her family, fellow artists, and friends.

LANGWELL -- Donald E. Langwell, Ret. Colonel, USAF passed away peacefully on November 6, 2010 in Las Cruces, NM. Don lived 74 rich years. Born in Torrington, Wyoming, on December 28, 1935, he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Sharon Harold in 1958. Colonel Langwell served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1984. His dedication to his country has been an inspiration to his family and friends, and flying was a great joy to him. Don was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM where he worked for contract engineering companies after his retirement from the military. He was fond of using his hands and engineer's mind to make art, fix motorcycles and other mechanical devices, read, and gaze at the stars. He is survived by his wife Sharon Langwell; his two daughters Sarah Langwell and Leigh Anne Langwell and their partners David Stotts and Patrick Nagatani; two sisters Lorena Bernbeck and Norma Shriner and their husbands Con Bernbeck and Ron Shriner; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2010, Lomas Chapel. A military service memorial, honor guard, and flag presentation ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 15, 2010 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.

MEDINA -- Jose A. Medina, 98, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Saturday, November 6, 2010. Jose was born in Durango, Mexico on August 28, 1912. Jose was with the United States Postal services for 36 years before he retired. Jose honorably and bravely served in the United States Army during WW II. Jose was a dedicated member of the National Letter Carriers Association; VFW 401 and American Legion Post 99. Jose enjoyed spending time at the casino. PERMENTER -- Esther Permenter, 90, joined her husband in Heaven November 7, 2010. She was born to Alick and Nina Daubert in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Mrs. Permenter was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Grady, whom she married in 1939 in Trechado, New Mexico. RAMIREZ -- Anthony Ray Ramirez, age 37, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 6, 2010. Anthony was a 1991 graduate of West Mesa High School. He was proud to be a Dallas Cowboy fan, and remained faithful throughout his life. Anthony had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He will be remembered as someone who would help anyone in need. Anthony is survived by his parents, Ray and Ida Ramirez; sister, Antanette Ramirez and fiance Ricardo Sedillo; son, Steven Anthony Ramirez; grandfather, Anselmo Ramirez; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. SHELBY -- Melba Irene Vick Shelby, 87, died Sunday, November 7, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in Chattanooga, TN on January 23, 1923 to the late JB and Ellen Vick. She spent much of her young adulthood singing on the radio throughout the south with the Vick Quartet. In 1942 she entered the USO and entertained soldiers across the US singing and playing piano. After the war, she remained with the USO touring nearly every country in Europe as well as Burma, Japan, China, Pakistan, and India. She continued her singing career after leaving the USO as the "Rural Sophisticate" and appeared at the Stork Room in London, England, Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY, Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City and Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, CA. She made appearances with George Gobel, Henry Busse, Rudy Valle and Chico Marx. In 1951 she married John Shelby. After living at several army bases John retired from the Army and they settled with their family in Albuquerque in 1959 where they joined Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Melba continued singing and playing the piano at many local establishments including Sandia and Kirtland Officers Clubs, Downtowner, Lost Knight, Firehouse, Petroleum Club and Sizzler Steakhouse. She was active in the early years of the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera performing and arranging for props. After husband John died she married Ambrose Casey in 1990. They enjoyed more than 10 years together. She enjoyed traveling, playing piano, attending musicals and throwing annual Christmas parties at her home. She recently volunteered at the VA Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Shelby; their sons Mark, Matthew and John Jr.; and her second husband, Ambrose Casey. She is survived by her brother JT Vick and wife Pudgy of Chattanooga, TN; children Ellen Doyle of Weatherford, Texas and Luke Shelby and wife Yvette of Albuquerque; step-children John Casey of Albuquerque, Sheila Casey of Los Alamos and Susan Casey. She had six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday November 11, 2010 at French Funerals, 1111 University NE. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday November 12, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Church. There will be an internment ceremony at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 2:00 p.m. on the same day. TREVIZO -- Fidencio Trevizo, 72, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, November 7, 2010. Fidencio was born November 16, 1937 in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. Fidencio was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved in the San Jose Parish. Fidencio loved Baseball and soccer but above all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Fidencio is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Emilia; his loving sons, Justino and wife Nirma, Fidencio Jr. and wife Moriama, Juan Ignacio and wife Michelle and his daughterGuadalupe; nine grandchildren, Marcelino, Abel, Mariah, Nataly, Adrian, Brianna, Mariza, Zane and Ethan and numerous other family and friends. TRUJILLO -- Alicia Trujillo, age 81, beloved and devoted mother and grandmother, was called to her heavenly home by the Lord our Savior, Friday, November 5, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Monterrey, Mexico and was a resident of Albuquerque. Alicia was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband Humberto "Bob" Trujillo; and daughter Susy Guzman. Alicia is survived by her loving children, Bobby Trujillo and wife Sandra, Patsy Guzman, and Ruth Salazar; her precious grandchildren, Rudy Guzman, Charles Salazar, Veronica Guzman, Marissa Trujillo, Salvador "Chavin" Guzman, Dominic Trujillo, Susan Guzman, Desiree Otero, and Kristin Guzman; and ten great-grandchildren. Alicia will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched. ZEIKUS -- Barbara "Bobbe" Zeikus, 71, a lifelong Albuquerque resident, died Saturday, November 6, 2010. Bobbe was born August 31, 1939 in Albuquerque to Vera and Tom Ramsey. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1957. ZOLLER -- JoAnn R. Zoller lost her battle to cancer and passed on to her heavenly family on Saturday, November 6, 2010. Born JoAnn Ruth Thorson on November 10, 1944 to Clarence "Pete" and Irene Thorson, she was preceded in death by both parents. She married James Wittkowske who, also, preceded her in death. They had two children, a son, James Wittkowske, Kr. (Margie) who lives in Rio Rancho, NM, and a daughter, Jill Rogers (Gary) who lives in Roswell, NM. JoAnn was blessed with a second chance at love and on October 18, 2002 married David R. Zoller, who survives her at the family home. JoAnn and David own Westside Insurance Services. She enjoyed spending time with her family and pets, watching sports events and traveling. She was a quiet person whom people found kind and considerate. In addition to her husband, Dave, and children, she is survived by her sister, Elain Frary of Hartford, AL; her grandchildren, Tiare K. Johnson, Joshua K. Johnson, Turia K. Johnson, Joleen R. Johnson, Justin Rogers, Ryan Rogers and Jordan Rogers; her great-grandchildren, Moanatea Johnson, Aryanna Johnson, Teyanna Johnson and Kymani-Lyric R. Johnson, as well as her extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will be in Allenton, WI at a later date.
