ARAGON -- Joyce M. Aragon A resident of Albuquerque, Born to Carpio and Ernestine Chavez on January 24, 1935 and passed away on October 17 2009. She is survived by her husband Roger Aragon; her mother Ernestine Chavez; sister Viola Aragon and husband Raymond. Special loving cousin Roxanne McIntyre and extended family. She was preceded in death by son Roger E. Aragon; sister Vivian Trout, Father Carpio M. Chavez. A very special thank you to Presbyterian Hospice and all the hospice personnel who were of great comfort for her in her last days. And thank you Tami you became her friend (nurse). COOPER -- John J. "Jack" Cooper, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Cooper was born on December 12, 1938 in Greenville, PA. He served in the US Navy and retired from GE Aircraft in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; three sons, Eric J. (Gayla) Cooper of Sarah, MS, Dale Feaser of Squim, WA, and Edward J. (Renee) Lofland, of Ft. Wayne, IN; six daughters, Tamera (John) Mizzell, and Lori J. Boester, both of Ft. Wayne, IN, Diane Feaser and Donna Feaser, both of Squim, WA, Kristina (Sean) Corrigan of Kalispell, MT, and Anita Weaver of Seffner, FL; a stepson, Robert Boyington, of Lockport, IL; a stepdaughter Kimberly (Cory) Underwood of Albuquerque, NM; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. GONZALES -- Erin A. Gonzales, 15, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Lucy; grandfather Jesse; and brother Nicholas. Erin is survived by her parents Larry and Lola Gonzales; grandmother Pat Horton; great-grandparents Louis and Ramona Garcia; godparents Jon and Margaret Syverson; uncles Robert Horton, Louie Garcia and James Jaramillo; aunt Zelda Garcia; and many cousins and extended family. She attended Manzano High School, she was a member of the NM Christian Athletes Association, and she loved music and being with her friends. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. GOSSETT -- Richard James Gossett Jr., passed away suddenly October 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard James Gossett Sr., Barbara Elaine Murphy; and wife Beth Gossett. He leaves behind his daughters; Meghan Elizabeth Gossett and Emily Katherine Gossett; his sister, Sally Gossett; and brother Roger Gossett. He was born in Fairfield CA, on May 6, 1952. He was a kind, compassionate and courageous man with many varied interests. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer. In recent years he became increasingly more involved with soccer and began coaching the game he loved. He was employed at Goodrich Aerospace for many years. You will be greatly missed, with love, Meghan, Emily, Sally and Roger. MONTANO -- Petra Baca Montano, 84, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her sons, Patrick and wife, Bernadette, David and wife, Mary; honorary daughter, Angie Dafoe; grandchildren, Matthew, Damian, Adam and Elizabeth.; great-grandchildren Josh, Maddie, Marinus, and Genevieve; brothers, Eloy, Paul, Theodore and Louis; sisters, Tome, Beatrice, and Margie; and numerous relatives and friends. Petra was preceded in death by her parents, Eufracio and Florencia; husband, Gabriel; sisters, Flora and Lucy. She was an avid runner and finished 3rd in cycling at the National Senior Olympics in 1992. Petra will be missed by all who knew and loved her. NIGGEL -- Antoinette (Toni) Dobell Niggel, of Albuquerque, passed away October 15, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Keith Brian Niggel and is survived by her husband Keith of 47 years; One son, Fr.Clement Niggel; and one daughter, Kerri and her husband, Joel Fiala; and her three grandchildren Desmond, Kasey, and Drake. She was also survived by her brother Steve Dobell and his wife Joanne; and Sisters, Rosemary and husband Tom Martin, and Betty Heise as well as her brothers and sisters on the Reynolds side of her family and many nieces and nephews. O'CONNOR -- Lillian (Lash) O'Connor, resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in San Ysidro, NM, in 1928 to Louis H. Lash, Sr. and Josephine Garcia. Lillian graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1946 and later joined the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, OH, for 18 years. Following in her father's footsteps, she became a teacher and taught at San Felipe and Atrisco Elementary Schools, and later retired from APS. Lillian was known for her devotion to numerous prayer groups, and is best remembered for her inspiring faith, frequent laughter, energetic joy for life, and boundless love of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis H. Lash, Jr., and her sister, Rosemary Lash. Lillian was the great granddaughter of Francisco Perea, a territorial delegate of New Mexico who served for the U. S. Congress during the Civil War alongside President Lincoln. She is survived by her brother, Bernard Lash, of Oceanside, CA; her sister, Kathleen Lopez and husband Daniel Lopez, of Santa Fe; sister-in-law Sally Jo Lash of Albuquerque; her uncle Antonio Garcia (97); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. PURVIS -- Toni Purvis, 38, of Albuquerque, joined her grandfathers, John and Sparky, and her best friends Ali and Julie, in heaven on Tuesday, 13 October 2009. She is survived by her grandmothers, Joyce Parten and Fannie Purvis; her mother, Sheila Griffis; her father, James Purvis; and her brother, Bryan; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Toni was born February 20, 1971 in Opelika Alabama. She spent her early years chasing butterflies in Auburn Alabama and building snowmen in northern Virginia, before moving to Albuquerque with her family in 1980. Toni played softball at Mile High Little League and soccer in the Classic Football Club in Duke City Soccer League. She graduated from Manzano High School and attended several years at UNM. A lover of cats, dogs, and people down on their luck, she could be generous to a fault. With a winning smile and a sardonic wit, she was a great addition to both camping trips and dinner parties. An adventurous but shy travel lover, she began to bloom as a photographer on a summer trip to Germany, Belgium and France. Family as well as friends from Hannover and Paris still have some of her photographs. We all miss you Toni-Boni. THOMPSON -- Kevin L., born August 22, 1969, passed away on October 11, 2009 at the tender age of 40. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frankie Thompson and his grandmother, Opal Moore. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, America Salas and their two wonderful children, Ishiah and Unique Thompson; two brothers, Reginald Thompson and Dathan Thompson and wife, Amanda; sister, Carlisa and her husband, Tovay; and 32 nieces and nephews. He was the proud owner of Alwayz Clean Company. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2 009 at New Hope Baptist (corner of Pennsylvania and Indian School) at 3:00 p.m. We would love to have you attend to say farewell. He may be gone but not forgotten. The family would like to thank family, friends and nurses at UNMH, 2nd floor, MICU for being there for him and the wonderful job they did to make him comfortable during his last days.

TORRES -- Fernando O. Torres, 91, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009. Born in El Paso, Texas on July 4, 1918, he moved his family to Albuquerque in 1960 and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1977. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country during World War II and was known in the El Paso and Albuquerque areas as an accomplished pianist. Locally, he played with numerous bands, including the Don Lesmen Orchestra, and loved playing Augustine Lara compositions. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Torres, who passed away in June, 1996. He is survived by son Fernando Torres II and wife Jane, daughter Mary Lou Armendariz and husband Eloy; daughter Lillian Armijo and husband Edward; son Lawrence Torres; and son Angel Torres and wife Patricia; 15 grandchildren, Fernando III, Valerie, Brandon, Yvonne, Amanda, Leslie, Edward Jr., Ashley, Josie, Ernest, Susan, Tiffani, David, Krista, Joshua and 11 great-grandchildren. The Torres family wants to thank the Ladera Nursing Facility for the wonderful, loving care of our Dad and Grandpa. A Rosary service will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Road NW, Albuquerque NM.
