ADAIR -- Cecil Adair III, fondly known as "Uncle Skip," 57, was born on January 16, 1952 and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Cecil Jr. He is survived by his sister, Mary B. Chino and her fiance Patrick Sanchez; niece Mary Alice Garcia, her husband Paul, and their son Mark; nephew Vance A. Chino, his wife Amanda, and their children Martin, Michael, Donovan, and Olivia, and another niece, Alyssa Chino and her fiance Michael Russell. Cecil was employed with Black & Decker for 25 years. The family wishes to thank them for their devotion. There will not be any services for Uncle Skip, who has finally found the peace that he was always looking for.

BERGER-GANLEY -- Sheree Ann Berger-Ganley, 52, a long time resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009. She is survived by her husband Carson Ganley; her beloved daughter Kristin Anne Wyatt and husband Charlie; her parents Larry and Lois Berger; four grandchildren, Danielle and David Wyatt and Kara and Steven Ganley; her sister Connie Levy and husband Kevin, her brother Larry Berger; stepchildren, Kimberlee Ann Ganley and Kyle Andrew Ganley; her niece Danielle Gutierrez; and sister and brother-in-law Mary and Jerry Obertrifter. Sheree will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She was a most creative lady who loved to draw and paint, create scrapbooks and even made her own greeting cards, but her greatest joy in life was being "the most wonderful grandmother ever". CEBADA -- Roberta Cebada, age 43, beloved companion, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Roberta was born on August 12, 1965 in Albuquerque, and was a resident of Las Vegas, NM. She was a Teacher and Coach at West Las Vegas Middle School. Roberta enjoyed fishing camping and all sports. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Cebada. Roberta is survived by her loving companion Norma Valdez; her children, Randee and LaRae Crespin and Makayla Valdez; her precious grandson, Francisco Garcia; her loving parents Pete and Eileen Cebada; her siblings, Larry, Peter, and Paul Cebada, Becky Salazar and husband Lorenzo Gonzales, and Madlyn Cebada; her sister-in-law, Yolanda Valdez; nieces, Adrianna, Lorena Gonzales, Lavae Cebada, Domonique and Merikka Crespin, Mya and Leah Valdez; nephews, Izrael Valdez and and unborn nephew Santos Padilla; and many other relatives and friends. CHAVEZ -- Feliciana "Fillie" Torres Gallegos Chavez, born March 23, 1934, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, died May 9, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abel Gallegos and Epimenia Torres Gallegos; sisters, Lucy Havercamp, Della Tracey, Mary Archibeque and Cipriana "Pana" Gallegos; brothers, Herman T. Gallegos, Freddie T. Gallegos, David T. Gallegos and Abraham Grey Gallegos; daughter, Deborah Marie Chavez Coffman and a grandson, baby Jonathan Chavez. Fillie is survived by a sister, Esther Torres Gallegos Pollock; daughter, Cindy Chavez Harvey and her husband, Brian and a son, George M. Chavez, Jr. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chandra Miller, Heather Miller, Mikala Rice Harvey, Christopher Chavez, Justin Chavez, Tanya Chavez and Chandon Coffman and great-grandchildren, Alex Archibeque, Ben Archibeque and Angelena Archibeque. CORTEZ -- Betty Cortez, 84, ascended to Heaven surrounded by her loved ones. She was a feisty and caring woman. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that was often called upon for prayers and blessings. Betty was an excellent cook who took care of everybody. She is preceded in death by her husband Margo Cortez and is survived by her son Arnold J. Cortez and wife Donna; granddaughters Bernadette Cortez and Yvette Hickman and husband, Roy; grandsons Paul Cortez and William Hoskovec; great-grandchildren Jennifer, Carlos and Erik; great-great grandchildren Anastacia, Maria and Isaiah; sister Della Tafoya; several nieces and nephews and also by "her Angel" Crystal Stuck. Visitation for Mrs. Cortez will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. DOYLE -- Alice M. Doyle passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at the age of 90. Born in St. Louis, MO she was a graduate of Christian College and of the University of Missouri, teacher, accomplished seamstress, extraordinary homemaker, world traveler and a member of the American and Albuquerque Rose Societies. Alice will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery with her late husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Pierce A. Doyle, whom she married in 1942. She is survived by her daughter Catherine and a niece and nephew. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Carlisle Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services. GANTZER -- Harriet Gantzer 1912-2009 passed on Independence Day, which her family finds very appropriate. Harriet passed peacefully in her sleep after spending her last day with her daughter by her side. Harriet moved to Albuquerque in 1970 after visiting here and falling in love with the beautiful blue sky. She is preceded in death by her husband Si; and son Michael. She is survived by her loving and caring daughter, Harriet Westman and her "adopted" daughter, Kathy Anderson. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law, Janice Gantzer; grandchildren John, Tim, Sheri and Chris; as well as great-grandchildren. We loved her very much, but God loved her more and called her home.

GUNTHER -- Charles John (CJ) Gunther was called to the Lord, May 29, 2009. CJ was born in Chicago, IL on March 22, 1917 to Fannie and Hans Gunther. Chuck (CJ) served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a baker on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. He married Katherine (Kay) Petracco in 1946, who preceded him in death in 1982. He then married Beulah Warner in 1984, who preceded him in death in 2003. Kay and Chuck had six boys and moved to Cochiti Lake, New Mexico from Springfield, IL in 1982. CJ is survived by his sons Gary and wife Marie of Poway, CA, Tony and wife Barb of Taylorville, IL, Steve and wife Lyn of Albuquerque NM, Tom and wife Ronda of North Ogden, Utah, Matt and wife Penny of Plano, TX, and John and wife Shari of Albuquerque. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. CJ was an integral member of the Belen Christian Church and later at the Valley Christian Church where he was involved in the choir, Bible study and many Missions. His greatest joy in life was his six boys and their tremendous families who will miss him dearly. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Valley Christian Church on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception following.

HOPKINS -- Capitan Dave Austin Hopkins, 28, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2009. He was born September 21, 1980. Dave was a member of The First Baptist Church of Belfry, KY. He currently resided in Albuquerque, NM serving with the United States Air Force, 377th Dental Squadron KAFB. Dave attended Belfry High School, Transylvania University, and The University of Kentucky School of Dentistry. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Gary and Joyce Hopkins, Forest Hills, KY; sister, Carla Renee (Stephen) Griesch, Lexington, KY; his fiancee, Natasha Ospino, Albuquerque, NM; grandmother, Orlean Hopkins, Forest Hills, KY; special cousins, Mallie Blackburn, Allison Murrell, Megan Darrell, Garrick Hammonds, and Gina Brien; aunts and uncles, Col. KELLER -- Krysti Diane Keller, age 46 went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, Friday, July 3, 2009. She was preceded in death by her mother Carolyn Keller. KOSKI -- Norma Manela Koski, 84, a resident of Elephant Butte, New Mexico since the early 1980's, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009. Norma was born October 7, 1924 the daughter of William and Ina Linna Kananen in Trout Creek, Michigan. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. Norma had worked as a bookkeeper in Detroit, Michigan. She married her husband Hugo in 1946, and worked as a bookkeeper in her father-in-laws general store in Trout Creek, Michigan. She moved to Albuquerque in 1953 with her husband and children. After the children went to school, she worked as an assistant manager at House of Fabrics. Norma was an accomplished seamstress beginning in high school 4-H. She also enjoyed painting and quilting. Her children and grandchildren are proud recipients of her quilts and baby quilts. She was married to Hugo for 62 years and they enjoyed camping, swimming in the lake, and their traditional hot dog roast for their anniversary, along with their dog Prince. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Hugo in 2008; son, Tor Koski in 1993; one brother, William; and two sisters, Verna and Betty. She is survived by three children, Kaylene Kaiser and husband Russell of Vallecito Lake, CO, Michael Koski and wife Elizabeth of Rio Rancho, and Stanton Koski and wife Charlene of Rio Rancho; seven grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Loretta, Renee, Denise, Erika, and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, John Kananen and wife Barbara of Pound, WI, and Daniel Kananen and wife Kathleen of Green Bay, WI; sister, Leona Devowe of Bergland, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her care givers, Stan, Charlene, Mike, and Liz, and to Odyssey Hospice and Nurse Practitioner Patricia Conkling. MACKELLAR -- Donald MacKellar, resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on July 6, 2009. Born in Schenectady, NY on July 1, 1923 to Margaret and Alexander MacKellar, he served proudly in the 8th Army Air Corps during World War II, then pursued a long career as a technical specialist in the Research and Development Laboratory of the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly Peacock MacKellar; his sister, Mae Sanchez of Collingswood, NJ; his sons Donald B. MacKellar of Chesapeake, VA, Bruce and his wife, Pamela MacKellar of Corrales, NM and Stuart A. MacKellar of Glen Burnie, MD; grandsons Ian, Alex, Deven, Justin, Andrew and Zachary MacKellar as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Williams. No services have been arranged.

MARES -- Loyd Mares, 76, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away Tuesday after a long illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence; granddaughter, Lily Katherine McKee and parents, Lalo and Aurora Mares. Loyd is survived by his children: Sandy McKee, Anthony Mares, Ed Mares and wife Bonnie, David Mares, Mark Mares and wife Lisa, and Patrick Mares; brothers: Archie Mares and wife Toni, Richard Mares and wife Rita; sister, Delores Sandoval, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. MAW -- John L. Maw, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 5, 2009. MENA -- Mondo "The Big Kahuna" Mena, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. He is survived by his mother Lupe Hernandez Mena, 91; his wife of 31 years, Barbara; his daughter, Amanda Chino her husband Vance and their children, Martin, Michael, Donovan and Olivia; his daughter, Emily Flores and her husband Noah; his aunt, Albina Hernandez, 97, and cousins, Grace Fink and husband Bob, Juliet C. Richardson and Roseann Hernandez. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Elvira Swanson, sister-in-law Cynthia D. Swanson and nephew Eric W. Swanson all of Durango, Colorado. Mondo was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and was employed by the Albuquerque Police Department as a Police Dispatcher where he was fondly known as "The Voice of the Valley." He retired in 1999 after working for "26 years, 8 months, 11 days and 15 minutes." A lifelong lover of music he enjoyed playing the piano with his band The Big Kahuna Rhythm and Blues Revue. Grandpa Kahuna enjoyed the loves of his life, his grandchildren. They became his inspiration to go on. We will all love and miss him dearly. NORMAN -- Rose Irene Norman Rose Norman, a resident of Albuquerque for 59 years, passed away in Houston, Texas on Sunday, 7/5/2009. Mrs. Norman worked tirelessly as a volunteer and leader in a variety of political and non-profit organizations that benefited both the local Albuquerque community and the state of New Mexico. Mrs. Norman was born in 1920 in Red Bank, New Jersey, where she graduated from high school. She studied dance with the American Ballet Theater in New York City for a year before attending Ohio State University, where she graduated in 1942. She married her husband, Dr. Ralph Norman, that same year. In 1944, she received a Master's degree in social work from Wayne State University. In 1949, she, her husband and young son moved to Albuquerque where her husband began teaching at the University of New Mexico. Mrs. Norman's many activities included those related to her immediate family such as scout troop leader and PTA officer at Inez Elementary School. She was a strong advocate of mental health, serving as volunteer chairwoman for the Community Mental Health campaign in 1961 and volunteer social worker for Catholic charities for many years. She also believed in the power of grassroots political activism, acting as a precinct organizer, a delegate to the State Democratic Party convention and a member of the convention committee for the 1981 National Women's Political Caucus Convention held in Albuquerque. A member of Congregation Albert, Mrs. Norman served as vice president of her Temple Sisterhood and was a regular fund-raising volunteer for the United Jewish Appeal. She also served as Co-President of the local chapter of Hadassah, a women's organization which supports hospitals and social service organizations in Israel accepting clients of all denominations. She was named as a Woman of the Year several times and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Hadassah in recognition of her leadership activities. Mrs. Norman's husband, Dr. Ralph Norman, Professor Emeritus of Psychology and retired Assistant Dean of Arts and Sciences at UNM, preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her children, Robert Norman and Patricia Norman; daughter-in-law Emily Van Norman; son-in-law Jeffrey Holligan; and grandson Isaac Norman. The family wishes to give special thanks to her care-giver/companion in Houston, Catherine White, and her assistants Crystal Brown and Catherine Ward. A memorial service in her honor will be held at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Boulevard NE at 11AM on Sunday, 7/12/2009 with lunch following. SANCHEZ -- Nep Sanchez Jr. June 9, 1956 - July 6, 2009 Nep passed away July 6th after a long battle with cancer. The Lord called him to His loving arms. Nep was a wonderful loving husband, son and father. Family was everything to him. He is survived by his loving wife, Della Sanchez; his mother that he adored, Helen Sanchez; brother, Raymond Sanchez and wife, Cathy Sanchez; and sons, Nep Sanchez III, Edward Sanchez, David Flores and Adam Flores. He was also survived by other special people in his life, Anna Flores, Brandon Seber, Amber Armijo, Susanna Jaramillo, and lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends that I can't even begin to name. (He was loved) He is preceded in death by his father, Nep Sanchez, Sr.; brother, Isaac Sanchez; granddaughter, Isabella Crystal Flores; and his grandparents, Papa and Mama Lucero and Isidro and Frances Sanchez. WARDLOW -- Arlene Elizabeth Wardlow, 90, passed away on June 23, 2009. She was born January 28, 1919, in Farmington, Minnesota, daughter of Mabel P. and Andrew W. Schultz, where they lived on a farm until she was 14. They moved to Columbus Junction, Iowa during the depression. She graduated from High School in 1937 in Grandview, Iowa. And then went on to graduate from business school in Davenport, Iowa in 1938. Arlene married Jay C. Wardlow on October 1, 1940 in Calon, Panama after taking a fruit boat from New Orleans with a stop in Havana, Cuba on her way there. After WWII, they lived all over the US before settling in Albuquerque in 1954, including Quantico, Virginia; Baltimore; Maryland, Oxnard, CA. Arlene lived on Snow Heights for 45 years before moving to Bear Canyon Estates. She worked at Sandia Labs as a secretary until the adoption of Charlene in 1957. They adopted a second child, Wayne in 1960. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene L. Wardlow, of Reno, NV; son, Wayne J. Wardlow, of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Vanessa Garcia and husband Augustine, Isaac Wardlow, Christina Davis and husband Carlos, all of Albuquerque, NM, Jay Wardlow, of New Zealand; Nieces, Judy Geilenfeldt and husband Bob, of Albuquerque, NM, Kris Wilson and husband Fred, of New Braunfles, TX, Melissa Coman and husband Greg, of Boise, ID; nephews, Andy Schultz and wife Tamara, of Braunfles, TX, and Robert Runge, of San Diego, CA. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Bernice Runge; a companion, Bill Rose; and her brother, Andrew M. Schultz. Arlene was a past worthy matron and 50 year member of San Marcial Chapter #34, Order of the Eastern Star, member of St. John's United Methodist Church, and the Yucca Temple #74, Daughter's of the Nile. A special thanks goes to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they provided mom over the last two and a half years.
