CAMPBELL -- Joseph Nolen Campbell. On June 15, 2009 "Grandpa Joe" stepped out of this life and into his eternal life in Heaven. He was born January 4, 1919 in Marietta, OK. Joe was 90 years young. He was an Army Air Corp WWII veteran and Bataan March survivor. He was preceded in death by his wife Mariana Averill Campbell; parents, John Thomas and Viola Frances (Nolen) Campbell; brother, Alvin Campbell, Sr; sister, Lottie Mae Naomi Campbell; and by his grandson Joseph Seneca Campbell. He is survived by his daughter Clyda Sciumbato (Nick) and son Lee M. Campbell. He has two surviving grandchildren; Averill Sciumbato and William Campbell (Elizabeth). He is also survived by his nephew Alvin Campbell, Jr (Gretchen) and his niece Rosemary Weinstein (Ira). He has one great-niece, April Fechter (Jimmy) and four great-nephews; Tony (Linda), David, James (Sherri), and John. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Joe's family wishes to extend their appreciation to the VA Hospital, clinics, and staff and to the Presbyterian "Lung Gym" for providing such great care, which contributed to their father's longevity and good quality of life. DOMINGUEZ -- Serafin Dominguez, 73, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Serafin was born August 17, 1935 the son of Abel and Abranita Garcia Dominguez in Bernalillo, New Mexico. He served on the Bernalillo City Council for 24 years. Serafin was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Andrew and Abel Dominguez; brother, Joaquin Dominguez; and one sister, Susie Chavez. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Dominguez of Rio Rancho; two daughters, Catherine Denise Johnson and husband Lawrence of Albuquerque, and Rachel Christine Dominguez and husband John Montoya of Bernalillo; grandchildren, Rachel Marie Dominguez (twin) of Bernalillo, and Liam Andrew Joseph Johnson of Albuquerque; brother, Dan Dominguez and wife Maria of Las Cruces; sisters, Claudina Dominguez of Bernalillo, and Cirilia Salas of Bernalillo; sister-in-law, Estella Romero and brother-in-law, Oliver Romero and wife Socorro, all of Bernalillo. FERNANDEZ -- Vincent "Chente" R. Fernandez, 34, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2009 and is now with our Lord. Vincent is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; his children, Wesley Moreland, Katherine Fernandez and Daniel Fernandez; his mother, Mrs. Rosie Fernandez; his sisters, Marcella Fernandez and husband, Joseph Linam, and Angela Fernandez and partner, Dora Lujan; his nephew, Nicholas Fernandez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Vincent was preceded in death by his father, Roman Fernandez. Vincent was a member of the Catholic Church; he was a simple, hard working gentleman who lived and loved for his family. GARZA -- Cynthia Amelia. Born August 27, 1983 in Visalia, CA where she lived most of her life passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009. She loved to travel and enjoyed the unique flavors of different food. Cynthia enjoyed the arts, movies, writing poetry, being outdoors, cooking and reading. Cynthia had worked at Blockbuster video, had been a personal assistant, but had the most fun working for ExpressJet Airlines and Bank of ABQ. She moved to NM in 2008 to seek work and be closer to her fiance (there were plans for marriage in the fall). She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Linda (Cervantes) Garza; grandparents, Alberto & Amelia Cervantes, and Pedro & Dionisia Garza. Cynthia leaves behind her father, Luis Garza; stepmother, Nikki; half-sisters, Reece, 5, and Morgan, 4; fiance, Travis Armstrong, many family and friends including best friend/cousin Michelle Castillo. GRIEGO -- Odelia "Lila" Griego, 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to Heaven on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She was dedicated to her children, husband and family, always caring and giving. She always saw the best in all, was generous and accepted everyone into her family. Her faith and prayers were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was loved and appreciated by all of her family and friends, her love for all of us will be truly missed. Lila is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George T. Griego; her sons George E. Griego and his wife Alicia, Ruben Griego, Leroy Griego and his wife Maria, and Randy Griego; grandchildren Brenda, Missy, Lacie, Bianca, Patrick, Bobbie, Natalie, Nancy, Leroy, Randy and Candace; and nine great-grandchildren. She was also loved by her husband's family of six siblings. She was met in Heaven and rejoices with her sister Grace "Lala" Gutierrez; and her beloved daughters-in-law Irma Griego and Geralyn Jaramillo. HARRIS -- Dorothy "Dottie" Jo Harris, 85, a native of Albuquerque, went to the bowling alley in the sky Tuesday, June 23, 2009. She is survived by her children, Kathleen L. Harris, Dorothy J. Sanchez and husband, Tim L., and Fred Harris and wife, Kay Cagle; grandchildren, Monica, Ernestine, and Desiree; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Alexis, Ernesto, Sonya, and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frederick Harris, Sr.; and son, Willie Harris. Dorothy was very thoughtful; her family and friends meant the world to her. She was an avid bowler and loved baseball; she watched her husband, son and daughter play for over 50 years. Dottie was the oldest youngest person her family and friends ever knew. KEEGAN -- Robert Emmett. Lt. Col. USAF (Ret) Robert Emmett Keegan, son of Emmett and Hazel Keegan, and named in the memory of the 17th century Irish nationalist rebel leader, reported for duty in heaven on June 22, 2009. Bob was born the eldest of three sons in Washington, Pennsylvania on December 1, 1921. He grew up in Washington, PA and attended Washington & Jefferson College. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and received his degree early in exchange for his service in the Army Air Corps in 1943. Trained as a navigator and bombardier, he flew 35 combat missions over Europe in the B-24 Liberator and became a highly decorated veteran of WW II. He received the Silver Star for gallantry in combat and the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat missions. Bob remained in the Air Force after the conclusion of World War II. He received his Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and he became a weapons specialist for the United States Air Force. One of the highlights of his military career occurred in the early 1960's, when Bob briefed President Kennedy regarding special weapons technology at New Mexico's Kirtland Air Force Base. Following his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Air Force, Bob worked for Litton Industries and later at GTE in product research and development. During this time, Bob and his wife Jess lived in California, Maryland, and Massachusetts. When Bob retired for the second time in the early 1990's, he and his wife moved to Corrales, New Mexico where they were involved in military organizations and historical preservation. Bob was an original member of the New Mexico Honor Guard, which rendered military honors for deceased veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion post #118, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Sandoval County Historical Society, and many other military and service organizations. Bob was known by many residents of Corrales as the "tax-man", as he helped numerous individuals with their income tax preparation free of charge. Tax preparation was just one of many examples of Bob's kind and generous spirit. Bob was an exemplary father and grandfather, and enriched the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jess Keegan of Corrales, New Mexico; son Robert E. Keegan II of Houston, Texas; nephew Peter Keegan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, stepsons, Sam W. Bowman III of St. Charles, Missouri, James E. Bowman of Frederick, Maryland, and Stephen K. Bowman of Corrales, New Mexico; and his six grandchildren. Bob Keegan excelled in service to his country and never ceased to add an ingredient of humor to any situation. He was dedicated to his family, and by his very nature consistently helpful to others. He will be deeply missed by friends and family alike, and his memory perpetually cherished by all who knew and loved Bob Keegan. LEESTMA -- David "Dave" J. Dr. Leestma, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009. He was born January 23, 1936 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Florence Leestma; his son Christopher Leestma of Austin, TX; his daughter Rachel Leestma of Albuquerque, NM; and his niece Ruth Brower of Dallas, TX. Dave was preceded in death by his brother Gregory Leestma; and his daughter Deborah Leestma. The son of a police captain, Dave had a lifelong love of firearms and how they worked. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from Marquette University, in 1957; a M.S. in Physics from Syracuse University in 1959; and a Doctorate in Physics, specializing in ballistics, from Universite de Paris, Orsay in 1966. Dave worked for many years in various Departments of the Federal Government. His work at the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency included nuclear feasibility studies and analysis that were used in developing the SALT treaties. Dave was a member of the National War College in 1975 and received the Meritorious Honor Award in 1980. After retiring to Albuquerque, Dave was able to devote himself full-time to his lifelong passion. Dave joined the Del Norte Gun Club and acted as their President and Membership Chairman for several years. During his tenure as the club's president, he was instrumental in negotiating the transfer of the "Old" Del Norte Gun Club to it's new location. MASON -- James "Jim" Ernest Mason, age 77, beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather, was called to his heavenly home by the Lord, Friday, June 19, 2009, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Denver, CO on October 27, 1931 to the late Clarence Mason and Viola Lingo. Jim was a member of the Grove Masonic Lodge #824 in Grove, IL, Al Malaikah Shriners, the Scottish Rite, and a Teamster for most of his life. He leaves behind many friends and memories of his 21 years as a Property Manager for various storage facilities, most recently the Guardian Storage in Rio Rancho, NM. Jim will be fondly remembered as a dedicated employee, a loyal friend, and a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; who will forever be loved and missed. MCBRAYER -- Meghan Maureen McBrayer, 26, was born in Red River but lived most of her life in Albuquerque. She passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20, 2009. MCRAE -- Ralph Thomas McRae, age 88, of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009. He was born September 9, 1920 in Youngstown, OH but moved to McElhattan, PA, soon after his birth. Ralph worked as a Design Draftsman for Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven, PA, for 14 years. In 1954, he moved to Albuquerque to work as a Design Draftsman for Sandia National Laboratories. He retired from there in 1983. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary E. (Smith) McRae in 1997; son, The Reverend Thomas F. McRae in 1984; and sister, Virginia Avitabile in 1998. He is survived by his son, Wayne G. McRae and wife, Christine of Mill Hall, PA; daughter-in-law, Cynthia McRae of Denver, CO; and daughter, Rosalie Swanson and husband, Gary, of Albuquerque. Other survivors include his grandson, Ian A. McRae, and wife, Jennifer of Denver, CO; grandson, David T. Swanson, and fiancee, Nikki of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Jennifer E. Swanson of Albuquerque, granddaughters, Heather Kuzio, and husband, Scott, and Laura McRae, and step-granddaughters, Kirsten Barner, and Jennifer Ferrara, all of Pennsylvania; great-grandson, Kaiden Swanson, of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter, Amanda Gray of Albuquerque; step-great-grandsons, Tanner and Trevor Ferrara, and Aiden Barner all of Pennsylvania; and numerous other family members and friends. Ralph was a member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church since 1954 where he had served as an Ordained Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. MITCHELL -- Thomas Jerome "Jerry" Mitchell, a native of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 after a long and successful life. He is survived by his daughter, Jerre Dee Fitzpatrick and her husband, John of Albuquerque; his son, Ron Mitchell and his wife, Sheri of Casper, WY; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chandra, Vanessa, Tom, Jacob, Evan, Michael, Chelsea, Jenna and TJ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bartlett Mitchell on June 23, 2004, their anniversary; and his first wife, Mary Jane Wood Mitchell. Jerry was born on December 23, 1916 to Grace and Dr. Lynn B. Mitchell, who was a Dean at UNM. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1934, was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a professional engineer. Jerry proudly served as a Lt. Colonel in the USMC during WWII in the Pacific. He worked in China and India for Standard Oil after the war until returning to Albuquerque in 1959. His career with the BIA took him to Shiprock and Gallup. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Dorothy moved to Cochiti Lake where they enjoyed many wonderful years with great friends. Jerry enjoyed fishing and the Albuquerque Little Theater. His kindness and gentle manner will be greatly missed by his family. NEAL -- Steven Joseph Neal, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at age 59. Born in Sendai, Japan, Steve grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Albuquerque in 1973. He and his beloved wife Caryl raised a family together in Corrales, where they were deeply involved in the Corrales Adobe Theatre and brought joy to fellow actors and audiences alike. They opened their home to a multitude of people over the years, creating a loving family that went far beyond the bounds of blood kinship, a family that Steve supported in many different ways. Steve also shared his humor and generous spirit with his fellow workers at PNM, where he made many deep and lasting friendships. He will be forever loved and missed. PEYTON -- Michael Scott Peyton tragically died in an ATV accident on Father's Day, June 21, 2009. Services will be on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., at LDS chapel on 2708 Cabezon, Rio Rancho, NM. Mike was born on December 17, 1963 in Warner Robins, Georgia to William Henry Peyton and Gail Rice Peyton, who predeceased him. He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife, Angelia; children Brittany Michelle (Lorenzo), Nicholas Adam (Desi), and Sean Christian; grandson, Devin Michael; siblings, Edward Peyton (Maria), Katherine Thomas (Dan), Janet Steele (David), and Robert Peyton (Sally); mother-in-law, Barbara Davidson (Ken); sisters-in-law, Pamelia Garza (Lester) and Julie Loftus (Tom); and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Mike was a talented man who could literally build or fix anything. Anyone who was fortunate enough to work with Mike can attest to his honesty and strong work ethic. He enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler "Therapy" and playing with his grandson. Mike was a friend for life and looked forward to conversations with friends, especially Marco Leyva and Lorenzo Barela. Of all of the joy Mike had in his life, however, his love for Angelia is truly his legacy. Mike and Angelia shared a love that was rare and complete. Mike constantly declared his love for Angelia through his daily rituals of caring for and pampering her. They were rarely apart and strived to spend each possible moment together. Mike and Angelia were truly joined before this life and will be joined forever in eternity by the desperate and all-consuming love they shared. PRICE -- Karen D. Price, 56, a resident of Albuquerque for 28 years, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, June 21, 2009. She is survived by her husband, Ollice Price; sons, Kelvin Price and Ollice Price III, daughter, Cherita Price; granddaughters, Teryahna Price, Makayla Price and Alicia Price; mother, Elvenia Arnold; sister, Ingrid Calhoun, brothers, Ronald Shavers and Stephen Shavers; and many other family members and friends. RAEL -- Mary Lou Rael, age 63, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and lived at a group home called ARCA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrocino Sr. and Sofia Griego Rael; brother, Pat Rael Jr.; and nephew, Patrick Rael. Mary Lou is survived by her loving brother and guardian, Teles "T.G." Rael and wife, Esther; sister, Priscilla Rael; sister-in-law, Lydia Rael; two nephews, Leonard Rael and wife, Katherine and Raymond Rael and wife, Leanne; three nieces, Naomi Najarian and husband, Steve, Denise Rael and fiance, Mica Comstock and Kim Gonzales and husband, David; and special cousins, Louis and Becky Espinosa, Cinda and Ernest Jaramillo, Mela and Libby Aragon. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Leonard Rael, Carlo Rodriguez, Patrick Rael IV, Felix Espinoza, Mica Comstock and Joseph Aragon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Naomi Najarian, Denise Rael and Kim Gonzales. REESE -- Mary Ellen Reese, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away June 21, 2009 at a nursing home in Albuquerque where she resided for the last two years. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Swenson, husband Steve, and two grandchildren, Emma and Elizabeth; her sister, Valerie Reese Cordaro and family; and her three brothers, Richard, Robbie, and Ronnie Reese and their respective families. She was born in Palo Alto, California, June 20, 1947 and was a twin to Richard. Her brothers, Robbie and Ronnie are also twins. She graduated from Highland High School, class of 65, and went to TVI, obtaining a nursing assistant certificate and worked in several nursing homes and private home care. She played the piano for years, composing a song she called the "Ocean Song" that she had copyrighted and did years of beautiful crewel work. She passed away peacefully after a two year struggle with cancer. She was loved by all and she and her daughter, Kathleen had a very close and special bond. We will miss her but know she is in heaven with her Lord. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 in the chapel at The Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque at 5900 Forrest Hills Rd NE.

REU -- Heather Reu, age 42, a resident of Albuquerque since 2003, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2009, having just had her 42nd birthday. Heather was born on June 9, 1967 in Harlan, IA, to Ray and Molly Cramer. She grew up in Bloomington, IN attending public school and Indiana University there, graduating in 1989, MSSW from University of WI in 1995. She married Phillip Reu in 1996. She had four children Vinh, Ming, Thanh, and Zhong. Heather enjoyed many activities, including Crossroads Fellowship, MOPS, RANA Neighborhood Association, Secretary of Lew Wallace, PTA, Co-Director of Colorado Vietnam Heritage Camps, various professional social work organizations, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Phillip; and her four children; also her parents; her brother Jeremy and his wife Michelle and their girls; Phil's parents, Jean and LaVerne Reu; and extended family and friends. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. TOMICH -- Mary M. (nee Butkovich) Tomich, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009, just three days short of her 96th birthday. Mrs. Tomich was born in 1913 in Centerville, IA. As a young girl, she moved to Albuquerque with her parents, Valentin and Frances Butkovich, and her two sisters and brother. She attended and graduated from St. Mary School here in the city. For many years she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, but for more than 30 years, she has been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Except for a few years living in Gallup and Santa Fe, she has been in Albuquerque for most of her life. Mary is a retired federal employee of the U.S. Corps of Engineers and the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked for the old Albuquerque Dukes baseball team office during season. Mary was very proud of her many years as a volunteer at St. Joseph's hospital in eye surgery hospitality. She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles E. Tomich of Carmel, IN and wife, Jacquelyn; two grandchildren, Steven C. Tomich, and wife, Julie, and Kristin T. Mart and husband, Brad; five great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, the family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m. The Mass of Catholic Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE.
