BUCK -- William "Bill" H. Buck, 79 passed away in the comfort of his home on May 2, 2009. Bill was born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1929. He moved to New Mexico in 1954 and lived in Albuquerque and at Bluewater Lake. He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen L. and Charles A.; one grandson, Jeremy M.; his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Wilson Buck; one sister, Rosalie Koehler and husband Bill of Camphill, PA; five children, William H. II and wife Sharon; Gregory H. and wife Annamarie, David G. and wife Jeanne, Frank J. and wife Vicki, Brenda Carroll and husband Chuck; two daughter-in-laws, Karen Cunningham and Pat D. Buck; nineteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bill enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing in the Jemez and Bluewater. He cherished having his family close to sit around a campfire, to watch the sun setting and the hummingbirds feeding. He enjoyed the fruits of his gardening efforts, especially the peaches and tomatoes. Bill retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. He served as a firefighter and an EMT for the Bluewater Acres Fire Department and was an active member of Risen Saviour Catholic Mission. A Service will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009, 1:30 p.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road NE. Special thanks to our hospice friends, Larry, Carolyn, and Angela. CASTEEL -- Robert E. Casteel, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1945, passed away on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, January 26. 1922, and was preceded in death by his wife, Bette, in August 2001. He is survived by his son, Douglas Casteel; grandson, Dustin Casteel; his loving friend Sally McGrath; and his extended family, Vicki Vehar and Valla Merrell. He was a resident of Corrales since 1958 and an employee of Stromberg's Men's Wear for 37 years as manager, buyer, and president the last ten years of his tenure. Prior to his retirement, he served on the National Board of Menswear Retailers of America. Bob was a WW II pilot, flying combat in Martin B-26s and in B-25s in Europe, and A-26s over China and Japan. He joined the New Mexico Air National Guard in 1947 and later flew P-51s and F-80s during and after the Korean War. He received the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the European Theater Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze star, the Distinguished Unit Citation Emblem with one oak leaf cluster and the French Croix de Guerre avec palm, among other awards and decorations. He was a past member of the Corrales Watershed Board and a member of the Albuquerque Hanger of Quiet Birdmen. He enjoyed golf, skiing and a good martini. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on, Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Old San Ysidro Church in Corrales, (exact time will be posted closer to service date). CHANCE -- Norma Chance, a long time resident of Albuquerque passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Norma was a member of the DAR and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII. Norma was active in her church and enjoyed bridge and writing. She is survived by her children Kevin Chance (Betty), Jane Brown and Patricia Cilke (John); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter R. Chance. CHAVEZ -- Eloy D. Chavez, 87, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Eloy was a descendent of the original founding families of Albuquerque. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rose; his two sons, Dr. Eloy A. Chavez, Jr. and wife, Betsy, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Robert W. Chavez of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Veronica Kirksey of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Michael Chavez, Christina Chavez, Adam Chavez and Jarrod Chavez, all of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one sister, Margaret Montoya and her husband, Anselmo of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David S. and Piedad Chavez; a daughter, Veronica Ann Chavez; six brothers, Alfred Chavez, Tom Chavez, David Chavez, Reginald Chavez, Charles Chavez, and Solomon Mirabal; four sisters; Carmen Chavez, Connie Chavez, Annie Pershing, and Jemma Romero. Eloy was a graduate of Albuquerque High School class of 1939. He proudly served his country in the First Cavalry Division of the United States Army during WWII, under General Douglas MacArthur. He served at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Eloy graduated from the University of New Mexico with his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree. He was a retired teacher and counselor for Albuquerque Public Schools after serving for 31 years. Eloy worked for the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation Departments as a recreation specialist. He was a prominent and distinguished high school sports official with the New Mexico Activities Association for over 50 years. He was inducted into the Albuquerque Baseball and Softball Hall of Fame. He was the Commissioner of Officials for the Central Region as well as an assignor for many high school athletic events. Eloy had many friends across the State of New Mexico who were officials and coaches. He was loved and admired by all. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Chapel. DIAZ -- Angela Diaz, 88, passed away folowing a long illness on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born December 2, 1920 in Tokay, NM to Pedro and Carmen (Banuelos) Diaz. Angela began her career with the City of Socorro, NM. She moved to Albuquerque, where she spent 25 years in Finance with the City of Albuquerque before retiring. Angela traveled to San Antonio, NM almost every weekend to spend time with her parents and brother. After retiring in Albuquerque, she was called to Scottsdale, AZ to assist her sister, Leobarda Saunders, with her 50 year old Art Gallery. Angela began her new career as a gallery owner late in life, returning later to the city she loved. She lived her last months with her nephew, Robert R. Bourne and wife, Susie and the family of George Aguilar. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Juanito Diaz and Transito Diaz; and sisters, Elodia Bourne and Leobarda Saunders. She is survived by her niece, Rose Bourne Sumners of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; her nephews and their families: Susan and Robert R. Bourne of Albuquerque and Traverse City, MI and their daughters, Carmen Peplinski and Kim Saccaro; and Ann and Whitney D. Bourne of Benzonia, MI; and sister-in-law, Joan Diaz of Los Lunas, NM. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro with Celebration of the Funeral Mass immediately following. Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. FACHAN -- Ernest T. Fachan, 93, passed quietly in his sleep on May 1, 2009. Ernest is survived by Thomas Fachan of Hawaii, Marie O'Loughlin of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Paul Fachan, Philip Fachan, and Barbara Dawson of Albuquerque. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He loved to share his wood carvings with friends and family. Ernest loved to reminisce about his three amphibious landings in WWII where he received his purple heart and two oak leaf clusters. Special thanks go to Rudy and Steve Chavez and all the caring staff at Casa de Rosa Assisted Living Resort in Albuquerque for the love and care they gave to our father and grandfather. On Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual help at 1837 Alvarado Dr., NE. Liturgical Services will be held in Albuquerque. GUTIERREZ -- Lupe P. Gutierrez, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, was called home to our Heavenly Father on May 1, 2009. Miss Gutierrez was born on June 30, 1921 to Abel and Ofelia (Zamora) of Albuquerque, NM. She was a longtime school teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools as well as internationally. She is survived by her sister, Emma DeRaad of Albuquerque; nieces, Erlinda DeRaad, Jennifer Gutierrez, Evelyn DeRaad and Rose Palmer; nephews, Billy DeRaad, Maurice DeRaad, Joe Gutierrez, and Manny Gutierrez. HOBART -- Phillip (Pete) S. Hobart, 81 of Albuquerque, NM passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born in Rockford, Illinois, November 28, 1927 to Kathryn S. Hobart the second of her three children. Pete married his wife of 56 years JoAnn of Albuquerque in 1952. Other survivors include their three children, Jeff Hobart and his wife Kristy of Austin Texas, Mark Hobart of Albuquerque, Peter Hobart and his wife Lisa of Albuquerque. Six grandchildren, Jeanine Hobart, Logan Hobart, Jeffrey Hobart, Andrew Hobart, Joshua Hobart, and Phillip Hobart. Two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sally Eichman and Richard (Dick) Hobart, several nieces and nephews. He was a WWII veteran stationed in Virginia. He enjoyed his career with Prudential Financial Services for some 50 years and enjoyed serving his clients. His legacy and example was evident in his faith, his family and his work. He will be missed but will be remembered by those he touched. Cremation has taken place. HOLLINGSWORTH -- Roy Dean Hollingsworth, a resident of Albuquerque for five years, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009. He is survived by four daughters, Linda Gladson and husband, Royce of Odessa, TX, Roxanne Pittard and husband, Don of Albuquerque, Trenna Tankersley and husband Charles of Williamsburg, VA, and Treva Nance of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Roy Stephens and wife Charla, Carla Steffen and husband Brett, Lynn Knight and husband Chris, Amara Nance, Jake Nance and wife Taylour, and Mark Tankersley and wife Claire; and six great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Erma, one grandson, Worth, and one brother, Bernel Hollingsworth. Roy was born in Gage, Oklahoma in 1916 to Roy and Alcie Hollingsworth and graduated from high school in Des Moines, NM. Roy attended Highlands University and Texas Tech and graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Mathematics and Education. He served as a teacher and administrator with New Mexico public schools for 42 years. Roy was a gold medal winner in several events in Senior Olympics for many years. JARAMILLO -- Janet Jaramillo, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Saturday, May 2, 2009. A resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1946, she was born Janet Monaghan on December 31, 1925 in Glasgow, Scotland, the eldest of eight siblings. Janet married Joe Trujillo, Sr. on June 2, 1944 in Glasgow. They met while Joe was serving in the US Armed Forces overseas. Janet had her son, Joe Jr. and then made the transatlantic trip from Glasgow to New York on the Queen Mary in March 1946. Janet became a United States citizen on November 17, 1952. Later, she remarried Petronilo Jaramillo with whom she was married for nearly 25 years. She is preceded in death by her infant son, Richard Trujillo. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all. Her sons are Joe Trujillo, Jr. and wife, Martha and John P.D. Trujillo and wife, Nora. Her daughters are Marie (Vickie) Smith and husband, Bob, Carol Ann Fidani and husband, Robert, and Kathy Hyatt and husband, John. Janet had ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. LOVE -- Robert "Bob" Earl Love, 68, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009. Robert was born June 15, 1940 the son of Rodger Earl and Billie Mae McEwen Love in McPhee, Colorado. He had worked in sales for the Norm Miller Home Building and Remodeling Company, selling windows, siding, and such. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Rodger Earl Love. He is survived by his mother, Billie Mae Sandelich of Albuquerque; daughter, Autumn Davidson and husband Mike of Houston, TX; three grandsons, Michael Blake Adamson, William Robert (Will) Adamson, and Wyatt Charles Adamson all of Houston, TX; one brother, Don L. MARTINEZ -- Celia E. Martinez passed away Friday, May 1 and was born August 30, 1935 in San Antonio, NM. She attended Browing Commercial School and UNM for business course studies. Celia worked for the state of New Mexico, City of Albuquerque, and the First National Bank in Albuquerque. She spent over 20 years in the banking industry and served as president of both the American Business Women's Association and the Pilot Club of Albuquerque. She was prior ABWA Woman of the Year and served on multiple community service boards during her career. Ms. Martinez is survived by her son, James E. Martinez, M.D. and wife, Margaret and three grandchildren: Estevan, Felicia and Roberto. She is also survived by her sisters: Eloisa Mummey and husband, Dean; Rosella Crooker; Louisa Rivas; and many nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death were siblings: Sostenita Gallegos, Juan and Eddie Martinez. A special thanks to her loving sister Eloisa who gave Celia countless hours of love and care. Thanks to her niece and nephew Tracey and Richard Mummey; her Footprints caretaker, Miranda; and Vista Care Hospice nurse, Karen. Celia will be remembered for her generous love, mental fortitude and courageous will. We love her, miss her and take comfort that she is resting in God's arms. MONTANO -- Michael Anthony Montano, 70, a native of New Mexico, and resident of Springerville, Arizona for many years, died on April 22, 2009 in an Albuquerque nursing home. He is survived by his mother, Frances Q. Montano: a sister Elizabeth Knight and husband Eric. He is also survived by two stepsons, Mark Orona and Ralph Orona; nephews William Stuckman and family, David Stuckman and family; and one niece, Mary Frances Stuckman. PRENDERGAST -- Robert Michael "Mike" Prendergast, 66, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Lovelace Hospital. He was born July 21st, 1942 in Silver Spring, MD, son of Ronald and Ruby Lillian. He grew up in Albuquerque and Arlington, VA. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda S. Prendergast, and their four children; Stephanie Prendergast of Albuquerque, Ronald and his wife Linda of Hampton, VA, Brandi Padilla and her husband, Randy of Rio Rancho, NM, and Crystal Griego of Albuquerque; and his grandchildren, Ronald Clare Prendergast III, Robert Michael Prendergast II, Carl Benjamin Prendergast, Samantha Padilla, Emma Griego, and Ivory Griego. He is also survived by his best friend and brother, Mark Prendergast, and his wife Amanda of Ashburn, VA. He retired from the US Air Force in 1982 after serving 20 years. He then enjoyed a long career in the electronics field before passing. Mike, an avid balloonist, fisherman, and train enthusiast experienced the joy of trusted relationship with close and personal friends and business associates. A celebration of his life will be held at Mirabella Heights located at 701 Stephen Moody Street SE, Albuquerque, on Tuesday, May 5th from 4-6 pm.

REEVES -- John M. Reeves a resident of Albuquerque passed away May 2, 2009 after a short illness. Colonel Reeves was born March 11, 1936, in St. Louis, MO. He completed his secondary education in Prairie du Chien, WI and began his college education at the University of Louisville at Louisville, KY. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in Military Science in 1959, a member of the Academy's first graduating class. He was commissioned a second lieutenant and awarded a navigator rating in the United States Air Force upon graduation. From 1973 to 1975, Colonel Reeves served as a Air Operations Staff Officer in the Tactical Air Command Headquarters at Langley AFB, VA. From 1975 to 1977, he was a Program Manager for the USAF Tactical Air Command/US Army Training and Doctrine Command's Air Land Forces Applications Agency, also at Langley AFB. He graduated from George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 1975 with a Master of Science Administration in Information Systems Technology. Colonel Reeves is a graduate of Squadron Officers School (1963), the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (via correspondence), and the US Army War College (1978).He holds a Master Navigator aeronautical rating and has over 3,000 hours flying time, including 199 combat missions in Southeast Asia. Colonel Reeves' decorations and awards include theLegion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm. Colonel Reeves is survived by his wife, Betty; and five children, Tammie Taylor (Steven), Courtney Poole (Pamella), Sara Etta Stewart (Brett), Georgette Reeves-Cervini (Christopher), Gerri Hiersche; and 11 grandchildren. There will be a Service held Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Tennessee & Lomas NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Association. Interment will follow at a later date at the Air Force Academy.

SCHODERBEK -- Lslie Wardrop Schoderbek, age 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, died 1 May, 2009. Leslie, daughter of Leslie and Irene Baker Wardrop, was born in Golconda, IL in 1926 and attended school there. She graduated from Alton (IL) School of Nursing in 1947 and was a registered nurse with a specialty in psychiatry for seven years, five of which were served at Hines VA Hospital in Hines IL, and two years as a 1st Lt in the USAF at Parks AFB, Pleasanton CA. In 1955 Leslie married 1st Lt. Stephen Schoderbek who completed 30 years of military service in 1977. During some of those years she served as a Red Cross Volunteer Nurse at the USAF Academy, CO and Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL. After their military life, Leslie and Steve moved to their home in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains and enjoyed thousands of gorgeous sunsets. Her greatest joy in life was her family and her collection of friends. After Steve's second retirement in 1985 they traveled extensively in the US, border to border and shore to shore, until 2004 when Leslie became wheelchair dependent. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Stephen E. Schoderbek; daughter Joanna and husband, Maris Biela of Littleton, CO; sons David and wife, Dianna (Kottlowski), and their two children Donald and Florence, of Eagle River, AK; and Brian of Albuquerque. Ennichment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Columbarium in late June. STAPP -- Suzanne H. Stapp Born March 10, 1934 in McAllen, TX passed away peacefully Friday May 1, 2009 in Los Alamos. She is survived by her husband of 56-years, James (Jim) Strapp; sister Mazie and husband Frank Ryburn of Lubbock, TX; brother Joe and wife June Hall of Port Ludlow, WA; daughter Lynne Strapp; son Lee Strapp; Granddaughter Shoshana Strapp, all of Albuquerque and Foster son Jeff Brode of Colorado. Jim and Suzanne moved to Los Alamos in 1959, where she spent many years working for the Los Alamos School System. Suzanne was a secretary at Aspen Elementary School from 1961-1962 and Pinon Elementary School from 1963-1973. She continued working at the Los Alamos School's business offices as a purchasing clerk until retiring in 1988. She has been an active member of the United Church of Los Alamos and was a charter member of the White Rock Presbyterian Church. Suzanne enjoyed dancing with Jim and the Mountain Mixers Square Dancers and sailing at Heron Lake. She loved reading and playing games with her family, as well as traveling with Jim in the recreational vehicle on trips with the Pajarito Sams RV Club. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the "New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches" (www.theranches.org) in lieu of flowers. WILLIAMS -- Ramona Williams was born December 25, 1925 and passed on to the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2009.
