CHAVEZ -- Raymond F. Chavez, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died January 8, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Connie of the family home; children, Linda Gerhman and husband, Eric of San Antonio, TX, Michael Chavez of Amarillo, TX, Rebecca Schulz and husband, John of Rio Rancho, NM, and Robert Chavez of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Adrian Tomberlin, Kenny Chavez, and Stacy Cartwright and her husband, Eric; and one great-grandson, Ryder Cartwright; sisters, Lily Casados of Hollister, CA, Rebecca Chavez and Mary Rose Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Antonio Chavez and wife, Loudes of Denver, CO; and daughter-in-law, Isabel Chavez of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Chavez in 2001. Raymond was a firefighter in Los Alamos for 30 years. COOK -- Frances (West) Cook, 83 of Clovis, NM and formerly of Moriarty, NM, died Monday, January 8, 2006 in Albuquerque. She was born November 21, 1923 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Eurie E. and Sarah (Lobley) West. Frances was reared and attended school at Fort Sumner. She married Kenneth W. Cook on March 5, 1943 in Fort Sumner. She was a homemaker. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, J.T. and Orivlle West; and two sisters, Pauline Newell and Opal Wingfield. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth W. Cook of Clovis; a daughter, Terri Mosley of Albuquerque; two sons, Ken Cook Jr. of Albuquerque; Rusty and wife, Chris Cook of Portales, NM; one brother, Bob West and wife, Mary Ann of Fort Sumner; four grandchildren, Reagan Hardwick and wife, Lori of Denver, CO; Kendra Strube and husband, Beau of Andrews, TX; Sarah Cook and Erika Cook of Portales; two great-granddaughters, Skyler and Sarah Strube of Andrews, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 from the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner; Pastor Keith Niehaus will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cook family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. COOK -- William A. Cook, 88, of Sun City Center, FL, passed away January 4, 2007. He was born October 25, 1918 in Pine Valley, Richland County, WI. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from John Deere Tractor Works after 34 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Phila Cook; three brothers, Rollin, Richard, and Bernard Cook; and two sisters, Annabelle Parr and Angeline Condern. Survivors include his wife, Florrence Jean Cook; three daughters, Pamela Moore (Darwin), Candice Saunders (Allen), and Judith Michael (Richard); a son, Vincent Cook (Judith); a brother, Lee Cook (Pug); a sister, Alta Fry (Russ); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; ten nephews; and five nieces. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL. EDMONDS -- Hazlet J. Edmonds, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Walsh and her husband, Mark; and grandson, Joshua P. Walsh. She laughed a lot, and her laugh was infectious. She was not afraid to die, and was peaceful about dying. She loved her family and friends and was much loved in return. She retired from Sandia National Labs., and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She began training for the Metropolitan Opera at age 15 in her hometown of Pasadena, CA, but gave it up, because she said "I was too young, and it required too much time." However, music remained her passion throughout her life. Private gatherings will be held. Donations to the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation are requested in memory of Hazlet. ESTRADA -- Louis Estrada, 83, of Albuquerque, passed away on January 4, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie L. Estrada and son, Ross L. Estrada. He is survived by Leonard and wife, Lucy, Stanley and wife, Diane, Diane and husband, Phillip Sievers, Herb and wife, Diane; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brothers, Joe and wife Francis Estrada, Frank and wife, Rose Estrada; sister, Margret Gomez; sister-in-law, Emma Chavez; and brother-in-law, Tony Martinez and wife, Grace. Louis served in the US Navy and was an Albuquerque businessman for 50 years with wife Sadie as owner of Sadie's Alterations. The Rosary will be recited on January 11, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. also at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

FOX -- William E. "Bill" Fox, 75, of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2007 in Albuquerque. Mr. Fox was born in Santa Fe and was a lifetime resident of New Mexico. He was retired after more than 40 years from Los Alamos National Laboratories and had been a longtime parishioner of the Risen Savior Catholic Community. An avid golfer, Mr. Fox was a member of the Northern New Mexico Senior Golf Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Charlene; a son, Billy; and sister, Peggy. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, Douglas; grandson, John, step-mother, Katherine; and one cousin, Bob Nosun of Florida. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2007 in the sanctuary of The Risen Savior Catholic Church. GABALDON -- Erlinda Christine Gabaldon, 57, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away in Albuquerque, Friday, January 5, 2007 following a difficult battle with cancer. She passed away at her home with her family at her side. She faced her illness with amazing strength, grace, courage, and dignity that deeply touched all who knew her. As a woman of faith, she openly took on the burdens of her illness. Erlinda is deeply missed by all of us who loved her so much. Born in Albuquerque, NM, Erlinda was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, class of '67, and T.V.I. After working for AT&T for nine years, Erlinda dedicated her life to her family and the raising of her two daughters. Above all, she loved being a Grandma. Erlinda enjoyed her grandson, Diego, immensely and looked forward to welcoming two new grandchildren into the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florinda and Manuel Maldonado. Erlinda is survived by her loving husband, Ernest G. Gabaldon; sisters, Mela Gutierrez, Angela Sanchez, and Elena Otero; brothers, Frankie McAfee, Joe McAfee, Leroy McAfee, and George McAfee; daughters, Francisquita Fernandez and husband, Nathan Fernandez, and Dolores Sanchez and husband, Marcos Sanchez; and grandson, Diego Sanchez. Erlinda's Memorial Service will begin with a Rosary being recited on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. GALLEGOS -- Manuel Gallegos, 75, a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on Saturday, January 6, 2007 after a five year battle with cancer. He was born on April 28, 1931, and he lived a full and joyous life. After graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1950, he enlisted in the Air Force and retired after 22 years of service. Manny (General Patton) is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Gallegos of the family home; sons, Gary Gallegos of Sarasota, FL, David Gallegos and wife, Patricia of Nogal, NM, Craig Gallegos and wife, Maria of Albuquerque, daughter, Maria-Elena Gallegos and fiance, Russ Jellison of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Melani, Isaiah, Adrianna, Gabriel, Sarah, and David; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Dayl, Matthew, and Daytona; sisters, Carmel and Lucy; and many numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Manny is preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; and granddaughter, Michelle Gallegos. He enjoyed doing many activities and visiting with family and friends. Mr. Gallegos was a member of Oasis Family Church (4800 Lomas Blvd. NE) where Services will be held on Thursday January 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Following will be a memorial reception at the Albuquerque Garden Center, 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE. GATES -- Buster Woodrow Gates, 66, of Edgewood, NM passed away January 6, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. Buster was born September 18, 1940 to Roy and Urshel (Hobbs) Gates in Santa Fe, NM. Buster was a member of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge of the Santa Fe Scotish Rite Temple, 32 degree mason. He loved to travel with his beloved wife Sandie in his motor home. Buster loved to fly he was a private pilot; he also loved to ride motorcycles. Buster is survived by his family who loved him, parents, Roy and Urshel Gates of Polvadra, NM; his wife, Sandie Gates of their home in Edgewood, NM; sons, Derek Gates of Flagstaff, AZ; Tracy Gates of Houston, TX; Clay Gates of Belen, NM; Buter W.
