BARELA -- Nevaeh Krystalyn Barela - She was born on a beautiful August day in 2006 to Nellie and Melany Barela. It was the 21st day to be exact, and it was the day God released one of his own angels down to earth. He gave her the most beautiful smile and the courage of a lion. From the beginning, He knew this precious little one would only be here for a brief time. She was sent to show us love, happiness and an eternal bond that can never be severed. When her job was done, and everyone she touched would be changed forever -God called her home. She put on her angel wings and flew home to Heaven on May 13, 2007. She leaves behind her mommies: Nellie and Melany Barela; grandparents: Ernest and Frances Barela, Randolph Gonzales and Valerie Valdez; great-grandparents: Daniel and Rita Valdez, Bennie "Poppa" Gonzales; uncles: Diego Gonzales and Joseph Barela; aunties: Ruby Barela and Raquel Gonzales; cousins: Frances Sandoval, Joseph Barela II, and Mikaylah Simpson and her "angel buddy" Isaac Chavez. BLEA -- Catalina A. Blea was born March 13, 1999. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, she passed away Friday, May 11, 2007. Catalina loved school, attending Los Padillas Elementary, and she always made her parents proud. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, niece, and friend. CARRIAGA -- Felix R. Carriaga, age 71, left his family to join the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2007. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria Carriaga; and both parents, Ruth Ulivarri Carriaga and Adam Carriaga; and two sons, Henry Sanchez and Louis Ruiz. He is survived by his two sons, John Sanchez and wife, Jane, Paul Carriaga and wife, Janice; daughter, Lupita Apodaca and husband, Matthew; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louie Ulivarri and Adan Carriaga; two sisters, Mary Gonzales and Sandra Gallegos. CHAVEZ -- Anastacio B. Chavez, age 82, beloved brother and uncle, was called to his heavenly home by the Lord, Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Anastacio was a resident of Albuquerque and a member of the Catholic Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adan and Portana Chavez; a sister, Tomasita Zuragosa. Anastacio is survived by his loving sisters, Elizabeth Marquez, and Audela Fernandez; numerous nieces, nephews, other beloved family members and friends. Anastacio will be greatly missed by his loving family. CHAVEZ -- Rev. Richard R. Chavez, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in Socorro, NM. He was born October 29, 1933 in Polvadera, NM to Geronimo and Anita Ruiz Chavez. Rev. Chavez was a faithful servant of God for 52 years. He was the pastor of the El Buen Pastor Chruch in Socorro for 43 years. Rev. Chavez was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel G. Chavez; and a brother, Pedro Chavez. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Baca Chavez of their home in Socorro; sons: Steven Chavez and wife, Patricia of Silver City, NM; Anthony Chavez of Socorro; and Carlos Chavez and wife, Virgie of Socorro; daughters: Kathy Gonzales and husband, Gilbert of Socorro; Joyce Chavez and husband, Juan of San Antonio, NM; Janice Baca and husband, Ted of Socorro; and Alice Belmontez and husband, David of Socorro; brothers: Aristeo, Louie and Edward Chavez, all of Albuquerque, NM; and Santiago Chavez of Amarillo, TX; sisters: Andrea Barreras, Rose Chavez, and Dorothy Chavez, all of Albuquerque; Belia Trujillo of Phoenix, AZ; Rachel Hutchinson and Priscilla Edwards, both of Los Lunas, NM; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends. DURAN -- Larry R. Duran, 60, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007, after a brief illness. A native New Mexican, Larry spent 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in Albuquerque. Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy; his children, Jennifer Padilla and Shaun Duran; grandchildren, Aaron and Zachary Padilla; siblings, Sandy Herrera, Jerry Duran and wife, Maureen, and Kevin Duran and wife, Wendi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Lucy Duran; and brother, Buddy Duran. Larry was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed. RIOS -- Roberto Rene Rios Sr., 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 13 years, passed away May 14, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Rios; children, Robert R. ROMERO -- Patrick Romero, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, May 13, 2007. Patrick was born December 4, 1935 in Aragon, NM, the son of Jose N. Romero and Tomasita Aragon Romero. He never met a stranger. Patrick had a big laugh and an even bigger heart. He grew up in his beloved hometown of Aragon and graduated from Reserve High School and later New Mexico State University. Patrick moved his family to Albuquerque where he divided his time between the big city and his ranch. He loved music and was always prepared to play his guitar at any event (especially birthdays). Patrick worked first as an elementary school teacher at Duranes Elementary School and later at the University of New Mexico as Assistant Director Physical Plant. He especially loved a good laugh and a cold beer. While he loved to tell stories, his true talent was in listening, he listened with his whole heart. His joy in his later life were his five beloved grandchildren, Alex Jones (15), K.C. Jones (12), Frankie Chiappone (12), and twins, Alle and Ella Chiappone (8). Patrick will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 47 years, Carmel (Rael) Romero; his children, Patricia Carol Romero Jones (Dave), Roberta Romero Chiappone (Frank); five grandchildren; his two sisters, Sister Rosella Romero and Virginia Aragon (Victor); sister-in-law, Linda Romero; many nieces and nephews; and a loving extended family and friends. SCHWEIGHARDT -- Martin Schweighardt passed peacefully away at home on May 14, 2007. He was born on December 25, 1917 in Passaic, NJ and relocated to Albuquerque upon retirement in 1984. He is survived by his partner - brother of over fifty years, Philip Ciofalo; sister-in-law, Erma Schweighardt; and his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Andrew; his sisters, Mary and Ann. Martin was the sole sibling survivor. He was active in sports and won second place in Roller Skating Ballroom Dancing in New Jersey and sixth place nationwide in 1937. He was active in teaching activities at several schools in New Jersey which were interrupted by his service in World War II, mostly in the European and African campaigns. His travels spanned over 100 foreign countries and cities. He was an avid self-styled at-home "Chef", and realized his dream in September 2000 at age 82, in Florence, Italy, where he received his diploma from the School of Culinary Arts, Scuola Di Arte Culinaria - Cordon Blue, in Italian cooking. He touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed. Philip Ciofalo would like to extend his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at the Albuquerque Heart Institute and during his last months to the Heartland Hospice. STAKE -- Floyd Albert Stake, 85, a resident of New Mexico since 1952, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. He was a man of great integrity, loving husband, father, and grandfather and was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was born in Superior, WI on February 12, 1922. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired from Sandia National Laboratories as a draftsman after 35 years of service. Floyd enjoyed square dancing, was an avid reader, and a skilled woodworker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Helen Stake, and his son, Kendall Stake. He is survived by his son, Randy Stake and wife, Suzy, Paul Stake and wife, Linda, Peter Stake and wife, Betsy, Victoria Stake, James Stake and wife, Kim, and Elizabeth Stake; grandchildren, Kenny Stake and wife, Karri, Kristy Butcher and husband, David, Kimberly Stake, Kyle Stake, Emily Stake, and Andrew Stake; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Butcher and Justin and Tyler Stake. He is also survived by Helen's children, Beth Evans and Dennis Verstynen and their families. TRUJEQUE -- Steven Andrew Trujeque, age 49, after a long battle with cancer his soul was freed Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Trujeque and brother, Dr. Lawrence Trujeque. He is survived by his children, Rachel A. Trujeque, Annalisa Trujeque, Kristine M. Trujeque and only son, Steven L. Trujeque. He was blessed with a granddaughter, Hanna Grace Sullivan. Steven is also survived by his mother, Flora Trujeque; brother, Patrick Trujeque; sisters, Pauline Proctor, Phyllis West and husband, Daniel West. Steve was a very loving father, brother, son, uncle and friend. Steve was a very good man and although his days were numbered, he accomplished many things and worked hard for them. He graduated from Highland High School and then joined the US Navy. He had a steady career as an electrician. If you knew this man, you knew the power of his heart was greater than anything. We would like to recognize his honorary pallbearers, Mike Trujeque, Kris Nelson, Danny Jaramillo, Marty Pino, Danny Allen, Bruce Connell and Mike Cisneros. We will be celebrating his life at Riverside Funeral Home on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 12:00 p.m., 225 San Mateo Blvd NE.

TURNBULL -- Sarah Lee Turnbull,49 passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, Harry M. Turnbull and her brother, Isaac Chavez. She is survived by her son, Matthew J. Colvard; and daughter, Sabrina Colvard; her brother, Rudy Chavez; her sister, Consuelo Allen and husband, Frederick. Sarah had a talent for embroidering and drawing beautiful pictures. She embroidered little pockets for patients in nursing homes. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place and Services by Deacon Pilar Garcia will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. Our special thanks to the ICU staff at BCMC for the good care they provided Sarah. We thank Trinity for her tremendous help at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, also Rose Mary for her excellent help at Mt. Calvary and Deacon Pilar Garcia for making himself available in a short time.

VASQUEZ -- Marilyn J. Vasquez, age 77, of Albuquerque, passed away after an extended illness on Monday, May 14, 2007. Marilyn was born and raised in Socorro to Beatrice and Ernest Stapleton. After her mother's death, she attended and graduated in 1948, from Harwood Girls School in Albuquerque. Marilyn was well known for her wonderful baking, cooking, and hospitality. She was very active in her church for many years. Marilyn never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry B. Burgess, and her second husband, Eliberto Vasquez. Marilyn and Harry had two beloved daughters who survived them; Myra Rollins and her husband, Gary, and Anna Hernandez and her husband, Art; dearly loved brothers, Ernest Stapleton and his wife, RoseMary and Conrad Stapleton and his wife, Linda; the grandchildren whom she adored, Andrew and Austin Hernandez; and many cousins, one aunt, nieces, and nephews, and friends. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary Westside Chapel with a reception to follow. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary Westside Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until Service time. WALDECK -- Stephen Prichard Waldeck Jr., 19, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 14, 2007. Stephen was born April 1, 1988 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his loving parents, Stephen Sr. and Pam Waldeck, a sister, Jennifer Waldeck; brothers, Stanley Kirstynik and Dylan Waldeck; grandparents, Celeste Sullivan, Betsy Cline and JV and Nan McCarty; aunts and uncles, James McCarty, Patsy McCarty, Ty and Eva Newman, Jim and Sandy Yarborough, Jason McCarty, Dan and Tanya Waldeck and Nancy Cottle; cousins, Danny and JJ Waldeck, Ed and Tracy Fenstermacher, Bryce Lister, Cassandra McCarty, Vicki McCarty, Staci McCarty, Tommy McCarty, Brandy Townsend; and close family friend, Laura Brown.
