ARCHIBEQUE -- Virginia A. Archibeque, beloved sister and aunt, passed away peacefully at her home on February 13, 2007, at the age of 79 following a brief illness. She was born March 8, 1927 in Albuquerque, NM to the late Miguel and Agatha Archibeque. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Manuel, George, and Michael; sisters, Lena and Mary; and by her nephews, Raymond, Mark, and Martin Sawtelle, and Ernie and James Archibeque. She is survived by her brother, Ernest Archibeque and wife, Genevieve of Albuquerque; and her sister, Ramona Everett and husband, Robert of Kingsville, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to her, including niece Mary Starr and husband, Kent; niece, Theresa Caldwell and husband, Pat; nephew, Lawrence Everett and daughter, Kyndall; nephew, Manuel Archibeque and wife, Delfina; and her great-niece and -nephew, Kristen Caldwell and Eric Starr, all whom helped to care for her. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque she attended public school as well as San Felipe de Neri and St. Mary's Catholic schools. She entered the order of the Sisters of St. Francis at age 13 and upon leaving the convent, devoted the remainder of her life to caring for her family. She was employed as a physician's assistant for over 25 years. She was a member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Sacred Heart League and Blue Army. Virginia was a very loving and caring sister, aunt, and friend. Words cannot express how much she is loved and will be missed by her family and all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited that evening at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Isaac Archibeque, Manuel Archibeque, Pat Caldwell, Billy Everett, Lawrence Everett, and Kent Starr. ATENCIO -- Alonzo "Al" Atencio, 52, of Albuquerque completed his journey on Earth February 15, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lucia C. Atencio; his daughter, Jennifer Stone and husband Casey of Albuquerque; his son Greg Atencio of Albuquerque; very special grandchildren Robby and Rylee; his parents Alonzo C. Atencio and Patricia Lucero of Albuquerque; siblings, Debbie and partner Randy, Michael, Luke and Mia Atencio; and other countless family members. Al was preceded in death by his grandson, Reed Daniel Stone. COUPE -- Linda Coupe, 70, passed away on February 17, 2007. She was a life-long resident of Albuquerque, having been born on April 14, 1936. She is survived by son Joey Jones of Albuquerque, son Allen Jones and wife Doris of Albuquerque: daughter Diana Disch and fiancee Mike Pectol of Las Vegas, NV; sister Elsie Lock of Albuquerque; brother Lorenzo Jaramillo of Albuquerque, Frank Jaramillo of Belen; sister Mary Lou Hoselton of Belen; eight grandchildren, Adrienne Jones, Matthew Jones, Kevin Jones, Brandon Disch, Melissa Disch, Cristopher Nagy, Nicole Jones, Jesse Jones; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Disch. She was a very loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. FLOOD -- Marina A. Flood, born June 25, 1916 in Dubuque, IA, went to the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2007. She is survived by her twin sister Marcella Kessler and her husband Charles of Albuquerque; her brother Irwin Wagner and wife Dorothy of Dubuque, IA; sister-in-law Leta Wagner of Dubuque, IA; brother-in-law Ralph Heiring of Dubuque, IA; niece Becky Dominguez and husband Max and their sons Max Charles and Joe Michael of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Warren M. Flood. She left Iowa in 1941 due to her health, and moved to Tucson, AZ; then Denver; and finally to Albuquerque in 1951. She was a member of Shrine of St. Bernadette since 1958, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She retired from Southern Union Gas Company in 1977 after 25 years of service. Marina and Warren loved to spend their winters in Mesa, AZ, loved to fish, travel and play cards. Her last few years were spent at Las Colinas Village. Special thanks to the staff of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice and to the caregivers at FootPrints of Albuquerque. GONZALES -- Mr. Federico (Fred) Gonzales, 59, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 17, 2007. Fred is survived by his son, Melvin Brown and wife, Julie. Fred is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Alfonso Gonzales and wife, Mary, Jose Gonzales, Patsy Anaya, Mary Bustillos and Johnny Gonzales; a special nephew, Gabriel D. Chavez Jr.; two special nieces, Linda Chavez and son and Loretta Kramer, husband and children: two grandchildren, Megan and Jacob Brown and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fred was a Veteran of the United States Army, and served in the Vietnam Era. Visitation for Fred will be Wednesday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Funeral Service to be held at twelve noon. MARTZ -- Annabell H. Martz, 92 of Fort Sumner, NM died Saturday, February 17, 2007 in Clovis, NM. Annabell was born April 16, 1914 in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Hugh B. Horne and the former Olive Bennett. She grew up in El Paso, TX where she graduated from El Paso High School in 1931. She was a 1936 graduate of Baylor University School of Nursing, Dallas, TX, and completed her post graduate study at Peabody Teachers College, Nashville, TN, with a degree in Public Health Nursing in 1937. Mrs. Martz worked as Public Health Nurse in Austin, Fort Worth, and Fort Stockton, TX. They were married on August 31, 1942 in Alamogordo, NM. When World War II began, she moved to Oklahoma City, OK, where her husband was stationed. After the war, she and her husband were in Midland, TX for two years before moving to the Triangle Ranch in Fort Sumner, NM in 1948. Mrs. Martz resumed her career in Public Health and then made the transition to work 11 years with Dr. E.D. Fikany from 1952-1963. She assisted him in examination and care of patients in the office, assisted with surgery at the hospital, also acting as bookkeeper and receptionist in the office. Following a short time in Colorado she and her husband returned to Fort Sumner where she returned as Public Health Nurse half a day and School Nurse half a day. After six years of serving in this capacity she and her husband moved to Clovis where she was employed as District Public Health Nursing Supervisor from 1973-1977 after which she retired. Returning to Fort Sumner, she was called out of retirement to again be the school nurse from 1980-1982. Annabell was a longtime member of The Church on the Hill, served in the Hospital Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce receiving the "Hall of Fame" honor in 1988, and active in the Senior Citizens of De Baca County. Mrs. Martz was preceded in death by her husband Frank Martz Sr. in 1979; her parents; two brothers Donald Horne and Hugh Horne; a sister Marion Horne; and her son-in-law Mike Teeter. Survivors include a daughter, Anna Teeter; and a son, Frank Martz and wife Carol all of Fort Sumner; four grandchildren Tracy Martz and wife Janet of Fort Sumner, Will Martz of Chicago, IL; Michele Finch and husband Carl of Dalhart, TX, Christie Lyssy and husband Jim of Fort Sumner. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; Meagan Finch of College Station, TX; Caleb Finch of Dalhart, TX, Candace and Micah Lyssy of Fort Sumner and a sister, Mildred Dunlap of Sierra Vista, AZ. A celebration of Annabell's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 from The Church on the Hill in Fort Sumner, NM with Rev. Pete Jaramillo and Mike Foth officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Davis, Lee Koll, George Gonzales, David Fikany, Rafael Roybal, and Simon Lucero. MYERS -- Lois Eleanor Myers, 92, passed away at her home into the loving arms of her Savior on Friday, February 16, 2007. Lois was born to Leo and Emily Lacey in a sod house in Wallace County, KS, on January 26, 1915. After earning her RN degree in 1936, she married Preston, her high school sweetheart, and they made their home in Denver, CO. In 1955, the family moved to Albuquerque when Preston was relocated by Mountain Bell Telephone Co. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family, friends, and many in need of her loving care. She was a faithful and supporting member of St. John's United Methodist Church for 52 years. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Preston, and her sister, Fern Levan. She is survived by her sister, Laberta Powell; daughter Donna Gardner and husband, Murray, of Kamuela, HI; daughter Shirley Marble and husband, Cliff, of Albuquerque; and daughter Emily Greenwood and husband, Dave, also of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many loyal friends. PENICK -- Edna Mae Penick, 85, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007. SANCHEZ -- Ema C. Sanchez, age 67, of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Deardra (Dee Dee) Baker and husband, John Baker; sister, Mary Alice Martinez; and brother, Larry Trujillo. Ema was born in Vallecitos, NM and graduated from Ojo Caliente High School. Ema retired from APS in 1995 after 28 years of service, and from Target in 2006 after 10 years of service. VANDERFECHT -- Alice Vanderfecht, 97, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta M Stark; grandsons, Frank J. Ruvolo and wife, Carol and Roger J. Ruvolo and wife, Dianne; granddaughter, Diana M. Duke and special friend, Daniel Montano; great-grandchildren Cinnamon R. Ruvolo, Robert E. Duke III, Peter Lloyd Duke and fiance, Vanessa Gonzalez; and great-great-granddaughter, Mira Angela Duke; and many other family members. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd John Vanderfecht in 1979; and her parents. Alice volunteered at the Storehouse for many years, was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church and also loved to travel. ZELENY -- James Zeleny, 61, from Artesia, NM, and current longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007. He was a National Champion race car driver and was inducted into the Drag Racing Hall of Fame. He is survived by his sons, Jason and Troy; daughter, Shannon; brother, Travis; and sister, Carolyn. A private Memorial Service will be held at the family's home on Wednesday, February 21, 2007.
