ARAGON -- CHARLOTTE G. Mrs. Charlotte G. Aragon, 79, born in Los Lunas, NM and a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with Our Lord on November 13, 2006. Mrs. Aragon is survived by her beloved sons, Former State Senator, Manny M. Aragon, Chuck Aragon Sr. and wife, Gwen and Richard M. Aragon; six sisters, Martha Garcia, Katy Esquivel and husband, Frank, Patsy Gurule, Lourdes Gurule, Vangie Tansey and RoseMary Rayner and husband, Dan; three brothers, Reyes Gurule and wife, Cecilia, Henry Gurule and Jackie Gurule and wife, Brenda; seven grandchildren, Greg, Dawn, Angela, Chuckie Jr., Darren, Kristy and David; two great-grandchildren, Renee and Ashley; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Aragon was preceded in death by her husband, former City Councillor, Mel C. Aragon. Charlotte's favorite remark was "hanging in there." She was a woman of faith and a Prayer Warrior. ARCHIBEQUE -- Helen M. Archibeque, 74, longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday November 12, 2006. She is survived by her husband Joe; and three children, Herman and wife, Betty, Brenda, and Rita Archibeque; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, all of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her son Leonard Archibeque. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 17, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m.

CANO -- Sally M. (Chelo) Cano, loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and matriarch of the family, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006 in Albuquerque at the age of 66. Mrs. Cano was born and raised in San Antonito, NM and was the daughter of Gregorio and Dora Davis. She is survived by her five children, Linda Sisneros, Bobby Cano, Chris Cano, Pete Cano, and Joe Cano and wife, Patricia; siblings, Jose Leeray Davis and wife, Nita, Carlos Gregorio Davis and wife, Rita, Rosemary Amspaugh, Elemita Woods, Martha Tapia and husband, Pete, and Maria Velma Seebach and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Andrea Clark and husband, James, Gabriel Cano, Isaiah Cano, Jacob Cano, and Joe Cano; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary for Mrs. Cano will be recited on Friday evening, November 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Antonito Mission. CLARK -- ROBERTA "ROBBIE" Formerly of South Fulton, TN, she relocated to be near her children in 1982 to Midwest City, OK, in 1991 to Albuquerque, NM and finally in 2002 to South Dakota. She was happy to be in the Black Hills and to experience the beauty, wildlife, and culture of the area. Robbie, as she was affectionately known, was born in Poplar Creek, MS, November 26, 1911 and was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Lee Henderson and William Claude Jones; her husband, Carlton M. Clark in 1972; three grandsons; and her four siblings. She is survived by three sons and three daughters: William M. Clark (Louise), Overland Park, KS; Carla A. Feldman, Dunedin, FL; James C. Clark, Blue Eye, MO; Murray P. Clark (Fran), Midwest City, OK; Rosemary E. Chasten, Rapid City, SD; and Charlotte L. Walder (Jim) Rapid City, SD. She was very proud of her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and the many friends she cherished over her 94 years. Our mother was proud of having worked at Haws Nursing Home and Fulton area hospitals prior to relocating. She credits her experience with geriatrics for helping her to accept the bad with the good, and to face adversity with humor. She accomplished both. Our family would like to reconize Dr. James Walder, "a wonderful son-in-law and friend" and an advocate for her exceptional care the last 35 years. We are also grateful to Mary and Richard Horkey of Rapid City for their love, friendship and kind attention the last 2 years in South Dakota. A special thank you to Hospice of the Hills for the help and care extended during the last weeks of our mother's life. GABALDON -- Maria "Molly" Gabaldon, age 79, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2006. She was a member of Legacy Church in Albuquerque, NM. Maria enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church and sharing the word of the Lord. She loved barbequing and spending time with her family and friends. Maria also enjoyed crocheting, reading and visiting with neighbors. She will always be remembered as joking, laughing, and sitting outside on her swing. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Rufina Romero Cordova; husband, Tony A. Gabaldon; and daughter-in-law, Esther Gabaldon. GARCIA -- CORINA Mrs. Corina Garcia, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 14, 2006 and is now in heaven with her Lord. Mrs. Garcia is the beloved wife of 52 years to Mr. Conrado Garcia. Mrs. Garcia is also survived by her three daughters, Irene Garcia, Maryann Bazan, and Caroline Garcia; five sons, Manuel (Blackie) Moya, Anthony Garcia, Edward Garcia, Albert Garcia and wife, Yvonne, and Daniel Garcia; three sisters, Mary Sanchez and husband, Delfin, Theresa Trujillo, Lydia Gonzales and husband, Manuel; one brother, Fred Flores and wife, Rachael; one uncle, Joe Gabaldon; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her sons, Anthony Garcia and Louie Moya. Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church. HOLT -- Marshall Henry Holt - a man of humor, style and grace, a true free spirit. Marshall was originally from Virginia Beach, VA and has left behind his sisters, Phyllis Phillips and family and Lenora Adylett and family. He will be missed daily by his loving wife, Bess; his parrot, Largo; and numerous friends from all over the country. He will be greatly missed by his Albuquerque family, Chris, Sandy, Hannah, and Shellby Robberts. Marshall was hero, mentor, best friend, and riding buddy to Chris and godfather to Hannah and Shellby. Marshall was a caring, thoughtful person and a wonderful husband with a huge heart. He was mentor, student of life, a wonderful listener and always in pursuance of good times with his many friends. He loved riding his motorcycle with Chris, especially in Durango, CO and the Sandias. He was generous with his time and knowledge, an "old soul" with sage wisdom. He had a knack of making the best out of any situation and injected humor whenever possible. JOHNSONBAUGH -- Melvin Johnsonbaugh Jr., 73, born April 2, 1933, passed away peacefully at his home to be with our Lord, with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean, of 27 years. Also survived by his sister, Glorianne; brother, Richard; his children and their spouses, Michael and Sharon, Belinda and Tony, Mitchell and Ann, Bradley and Michelle, Brian and Norma, Scott Davis, Kelly and Lora Davis; grandchildren, Troy, Karianne, Debra, Aubrey, Leandra, Kaleb; stepsons, Scott Davis, Kelly and Lora Davis and children, Talena, Kalvin, Konnor; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Carl; extended family and friends. MCCRACKEN -- Luther Scrowther McCracken, age 86, son of Henry and Inez Hillyard McCracken, was born February 24, 1920 in Smithfield, UT and passed away at home in Albuquerque, NM on November 13, 2006, while battling cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Delsa Hebdon McCracken; three sons, Henry Edward, Michael Hebdon, and Steven Hebdon; daughter, LaRaine McClure; four daughters-in-law, Deanna S., Beverly S., Cheryl W., and Susan G.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McCracken was preceded in death by four brothers; and his son, Luther S. McCracken, Jr. He was a WWII veteran, having served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. McCracken enjoyed a career as an Electrical Engineer contributing to the early days of space flight. His hobby was Timepiece Production and Repair which he later turned into a business. In June of 1987, he and Stephanie Papst were joined in marriage. With a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Computer Science, Dana served as a Network Administrator at the Santa Fe Opera. ROSE -- Wesley Zane Rose passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006. He is survived by his son, Jason; daughter, Tracy; and granddaughter, Ashley. He is also survived by his father, Mark Rose; his sister, Lanie, her husband, Bill Sparks and their son, Marc. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia. Wes was a long-haul trucker for over 20 years and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and the members of the Paul family. RUSSELL -- Sydney Loyd Russell, mother of three, and "Mom" to countless others, passed away early Wednesday, November 15, 2006. She was 79. Sydney was born on April 23, 1927 in Greenville, SC, to Georg Johnson and Paula Kitchel. She married Patrick W. Loyd in August 1953 and they lived primarily in Albuquerque ever since. Following Patrick's death in 1984, Sydney married Dominic W. Russell in 1988. Sydney graduated from Radford College in Virginia with a BA in music education. She worked and volunteered throughout her life performing solo piano, singing with and directing choral groups. Sydney was known in the community as a tirelessly optimistic and energetic volunteer. With her husband, Dominic Russell, Sydney was recognized by Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church for her support to the Doves Education, Marriage Counseling and Grief Support Program. Sydney was also active with Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota Assistance League, and the American Association of University Women. Most recently, Sydney was a dedicated member of "The Enchanters" choral group, a labor of love she cherished up until her recent illness. Sydney is survived by her three children: Patrick Loyd, of Albuquerque, NM; April Loyd, of Seattle, WA; and David Loyd, of Houston, TX; and her sister, Angela Atanacio, of Medora, IN. Cremation has taken place. SECOR -- Hazel Secor, a resident of Rio Rancho, quietly passed away November 13, 2006 surrounded by her family. The eldest child of Mernie and Elizabeth Brown, she was raised and educated in Michigan. She graduated from Alma College and received a Masters of Education from the University of Michigan. An active church member, she served on the alter guild for many years and volunteered weekly with the youth group. Hazel gave tirelessly of her time as a former Girl Scout leader, library volunteer, Band Mom and active member of the St. Joseph's West Mesa auxiliary for over 17 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harvey E. Secor; her parents; one sister, Marilyn; and two brothers, Frederick and William. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Dawn Jaramillo, Midland, TX; son, Harvey Secor and wife, Kathy Franchini, Albuquerque, NM; and five beloved grandchildren, Mario, Joshua, Devin, Allie, and Giovanna. one uncle, Nelson Abernethy of Michigan; one brother, Thomas Brown and wife, Bonnie, Troy, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. STEELE -- Maurice G. (Gail) Steele, (United States Air Force, retired), a resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, died early Wednesday morning as a result of a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Robert of Albuquerque; son, Michael of Boulder, CO; daughter, Cynthia Cummings of Albuquerque; son in law, Kevin Cummings; and grandchildren, Kevin Jr. and Gracie Cummings of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan. Gail was a career Air Force man who was awarded the Silver Star in Europe during World War II. He served in two more wars and retired in 1969. He enjoyed retirement more than most people, spending most of his time with his beloved family. STROME -- Sandra Leigh Strome, 47, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed from this life to Life Eternal, Monday, November 13, 2006. She is survived by her parents, Tom and Barbara Strome; sisters, Susan Strome and husband, William Saxon of Bloomington, IN, and Diane Gagon and husband, Kenneth of Seattle, WA; niece and nephews, Jayson and Beau Gagon, and Daniel and Sarah Saxon; aunt, Gloria Hathaway; and uncle, Richard Strome. Sandie knew the best of times and the worst of times. She received a certificate from Parks College. Among her travels, she especially enjoyed England and Scotland. Sandie was active in Wildlife Rescue, able to care for the first night hawk documented in New Mexico. She received an amateur photographer award in Washington, DC from the International Photography Society. Her hobby was making tiles. Her pet family included Shih Tzus, parrots, and cats. Sandi had many internet friends around the world. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2006, 2:00 p.m., at St. John's Cathedral, 318 Silver SW. SUAZO -- Carmen V. Suazo, 93, a native of New Mexico and resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 15, 1915 in Blanco, NM. She is survived by her son, Sostenes Suazo and wife, Thomasine of Dayton, OH; daughter, Linda G. Suazo and Gary Canning of Albuquerque; grandsons, Scott Suazo and wife, Stacy and Douglas Suazo and wife, Sara Dyson; and her only surviving sibling, Sister Mary Marcellus. Carmen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Frank J. Suazo. She was member of The Shrine of St. Bernadette. Carmen was dedicated to nursing and helping others. Carmen was one of the early mid-wives who traveled various northern New Mexico towns attending to medical needs. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. TAFOYA -- Mario A. Tafoya, 50, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 16, 2006 at home with his family by his side and is now in heaven with the Lord. Mario is the beloved father to Elisa Tafoya and fiance, Jacob Montoya. Mario is also survived by his granddaughter, Jordyn Montoya; his father, Cornelio P. Tafoya; four sisters, Christine Garner, Belinda Tafoya-Porras and husband, Peter, Brenda Tafoya and Denise Tafoya, and partner Marvin Lopez; one brother, Cornelio (Cordy) Tafoya; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mario was preceded in death by his mother, Otilia (Tillie) Tafoya. Mario was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation for Mario will be Sunday afternoon from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Dennis Garcia. URIOSTE -- Edward L. Urioste, 69, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away while in Kaseman Hospice on Tuesday November 14, 2006 after a lengthy battle with kidney failure. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lena; daughter, Wendy Urioste; sons, Edward and Christian Urioste of Albuquerque, Ernest Urioste and wife, Tamra of Canyon Country, CA; granddaughters, Abbigaile, Amanda, Andrea, Amy, and Kaella Urioste; grandson, Desi Chavez; siblings, Martha Montoya of Albuquerque, Robert Urioste of Lake Isabella, CA, Michael Urioste of Williams, AZ, and Phyllis (Tops) Zimmerman of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Philomena Barboa Urioste. Ed grew up in a construction family. He worked as a union carpenter for Local 1319. He then became a union organizer and later served as the Executive Secretary for the New Mexico Building Trades. He along with his wife and daughter, Wendy owned and operated Urioste's M&M Cafe on Bridge SW and later on Zuni and Washington SE for a period of 15 years. Ed was a license contractor/home builder and did several projects with his son, Edward and was a part of other building projects with his son, Chris. VELARDE -- Theresa Gurule Velarde, 94, lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2006. She was born in LaJara, NM on August 28, 1912. Mrs. Velarde is survived daughter, Reyna Emerson Malesich and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; sons, Randy Velarde of Cuba, Louis Velarde of Cuba, and Tom Velarde and wife, Marla of Velarde, NM; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Gurule of Albuquerque; and sisters, Gregorita Archuleta, Isabelle Torrez and Marcia Gurule of Albuquerque, and Lala Carothers of CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Velarde; infant son, Joseph; parents, Reyes and Eutimia Gurule; brothers, Robert Gurule, Steve Gurule, Mere Gurule and Aparcia Gurule; sister, Lucarita Martinez; and daughter-in-law, Rose Velarde. Mrs. Velarde was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community and was strong practicing Christian. She had a degree in Education. Her professional love was education and she taught for 40 years. WARD-GIBBS -- Jennifer K. Ward-Gibbs, of La Madera, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 11, 2006. WHITHAM -- Robert B. Whitham, 71, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Whitham and four children who enriched his life, David Whitham and his wife, Elizabeth and their son, Teo of Edgewood, Nancy Whitham of Portland, OR, Judith Hubbard and her husband, Manuel Ontiveros of Albuquerque, David Hubard and companion, Stephanie Weaver of Tijeras; sisters, Dorothy Lovering, and Marilyn Hall; brothers, Hugh Whitham, and wife, Barbara, and Richard Whitham, all who live in Vermont. Robert was born in South Royalton, VT on April 24, 1935. He was known to his friends and family as Bob. In the mid-1950s, he was stationed at Sandia Base for one and a half years. He graduated from Bentley College of Accounting and Finance (Boston) and received BSBA and a Master of Arts degree from Suffolk University (Boston). After moving back to Albuquerque in 1962, he received Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of New Mexico. Robert was a university professor for 15 years. He received his Certified Public Accountant certificate in 1964 and had a CPA practice for a number of years. Robert was also a manager of internal audits for the City of Albuquerque for 12 years. His articles on education, accounting, internal auditing and internal audit reports were published in professional publications. In 1990 as a hobby he began freelance writing and photography. His articles and photographs were published in New Mexico magazine, Runner's World, in-flight magazines, and many other regional and national publications. Known throughout his life for his sense of humor, in the 1980s he performed 100 nights a year for five years as a standup comic in venues from New Mexico to New York City. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque, American Institute of CPA's, New Mexico Society of CPA's, South West Writers and Enchanted Lens Camera Club.
