BACA -- Brianna Frances Lee Baca, age 8, went to be with the Lord on Sunday November 27, 2005 after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her mother, Bernadette Moya and husband, Stephen; father, Pedro Baca and wife, Maria; grandparents, Margaret Quintana and husband, Anthony, Peter Baca and wife, Vicki; brothers and sisters, Jazmonique, Alexander, Michaela Jovanny, Tommy, Joshua, and Pedro; and her dog, Coco. A Funeral Mass will be today Friday December 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. A private inurnment will take place at later date. The family would also like to thank God for letting Brianna bring great joy to our lives for the past eight years. You came to us like a fresh and bright spring morning. BRIGGS -- Haydon Glyn "Bud" Briggs, of Hurricane, UT, Loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle, "Bud" was born February 13, 1924, and passed away November 26, 2005, returning home to our Heavenly Father. Haydon was born in Mt. Dora, NM, to Albert H. and Rosetta E. Briggs, second of four brothers. He attended school in Mt. Dora and Clayton, NM, and graduated at Des Moines, NM. After graduation, Haydon worked at the Wingate Army Depot in Gallup, NM. During that time, he joined the U.S. Air Force 40th Bomb Squad and fought proudly in WWII. When honorably discharged, he fell in love and married Melrose Marie Jaggers on July 18, 1947. They had two children, a daughter, Kerry Melrose, and a son, Barry Val (deceased). In 1956, they moved to Flagstaff, AZ, where he worked at the Navajo Army Depot until he retired in 1974. Haydon and Melrose moved to Blanding, UT after they both were retired in 1982, where they have loved and enjoyed each other for many years. Haydon loved his family, and spent time teaching them everything he knew about horses, hunting and fishing. He took pride in his race horses, which he raced in Flagstaff, Prescott, and Santa Fe. He had hunting skills that none could match, especially his knowledge of guns. He took pride in everything he did, and passed that on to all of us. His greatest passion was the love and care that he had for his family. Grandpa was a very special person. We will always carry with us his love and strength in our hearts. He will be deeply missed. Haydon is survived by: his loving and dedicated wife of 58 years, Melrose Marie Briggs; daughter, Kerry (Tony) Certonio; grandchildren, Danny Briggs, Tracy Todd Farnsworth, Glyn Certonio, and Tony (Lisa) Certonio; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Trent, Jaden, and Trinity. Also surviving are his brothers, Leon (Frieda) Briggs, Wendell Briggs, and Joe (Thelene) Briggs, and families. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane Valley Mortuary. Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the services, at the Mortuary. CAUDILL -- Isaac "Ike" H. Caudill, Jr., 54, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1996, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2005. Ike was born February 21, 1951 the son of Isaac Henry and Richilieu Ingram Caudill, Sr. in New Castle, IN. He had been a manager in the retail business with Hobby Lobby before his death. Ike was actively involved at Faith Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed sports and graduated from Ball State University in 1973 where he attended on a basketball scholarship. Ike also enjoyed golfing. He was preceded in death by one sister, Vicki Caudill. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Denise of the family home; his parents, Ike, Sr. and Richilieu Caudill of Winchester, KY; son, Shane of Rio Rancho; two daughters, Jennifer of Albuquerque, and Laura of Rio Rancho; one brother, Michael Caudill of Winchester, KY; one sister, Debbi Preston and husband, William of Winchester, KY; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and Paul Isaacson of Rio Rancho; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Sheakley of Rio Rancho; one niece; and three nephews. The Visitation for Ike will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2005 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho and from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2005 at the Faith Evangelical Free Church. CHAVEZ -- Angela Chavez, a resident of Las Cruces, NM and formerly of Albuquerque, was called home to our Lord on November 27, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Las Cruces; daughters, Jo Anne Chavez of Bosque Farms, Mary Ellen Chaplin, of Boston, MA and Cathie Chavez-Soliz of Las Cruces; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Theodore Ortega and David Ortega of Albuquerque. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1 at Holy Cross Church, 1327 N. Miranda, Las Cruces, NM where she was a parishioner. She has been cremated and the cremains will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2005. CLIFTON -- Katherine Howard Clifton, 64, New Mexico artist and potter, died Sunday, November 28, 2005, from complications following heart surgery. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Harry Howard and her sister, Jilson. She is survived by her husband, Martin; her nephews, Glen Krause, Greg Krause, and Glen's children, Nona Olivia and Joshua Danfield. She was born on December 4, 1941 in New Iberia, LA, and was raised in Albuquerque where she graduated from Highland High School in 1959. After receiving a B.A. in English from the University of New Mexico in 1963, she moved to New York where her serious study as an artist began with painting. Moving three years later to the San Francisco Bay area, Katherine developed an interest in ceramics and became an original, admired potter - patterning into her glazes horse hair, natural grasses and herbs. She was also a home caregiver and hospital clerk during much of this period. She relocated to northern New Mexico in 1981 and built a studio and kiln in Rancho de Olguin on the Rio Vallecitos, subsequently returning home to Albuquerque and marrying her beloved husband, Martin in 1987. The Cliftons built their home in Placitas, NM in 1992, where Katherine renewed her painting, combined with a passion for gardening, horses, and travel. Her work was exhibited at New Mexico art fairs and sold to collectors and galleries across the country. Katherine was devoted to the work of the South Texas Children's Home (STCH) where non-adoptable children are provided with a nurturing environment and educational support through college. CULLENDER -- Mary Komadina Cullender, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on November 29, 2005. Mary was born on July 6, 1911 in the coal mining town of Dawson, NM, one of six children of immigrant parents from Yugoslavia. Mary left Dawson in 1929 to study at the University of New Mexico. She returned to Dawson to work and married Raymond Cullender there in 1938. Later, they moved to Albuquerque to raise their family. For many years Mary worked as the school secretary at St. Mary's High School, and then as an Assistant Registrar at the University of Albuquerque. Her great passion in life was her family. Her first grandchild named her "Amo," and it is a name that stayed with her the rest of her life. After she retired, she spent a great deal of her time helping her daughters, Mary Lou and Julie, raise their children. Amo saw her grandchildren daily when they were young, picked them up from school, cooked for them, supervised their homework, drove them to riding and dancing lessons, soccer and swim practice and countless other places. She shared with them her wisdom, zest for life and boundless humor while molding them by her example. Amo was an integral part of the lives of her children and grandchildren, and they all love her dearly. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Juliana Komadina; her husband, Raymond Cullender; her sisters, Angeline Jasper, Ann Komadina, Frances Komadina; and her brother, Tony Komadina. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Coors Archuleta and her husband, Dr. Manuel Archuleta and Julie Weaks Gutierrez and her husband, Alberto Gutierrez; her grandchildren, Kirsten Coors Cooper, Shelly Coors Riccobene, Lori Coors Polosky, Jason Weaks and Mariya Weaks; her great-grandchildren, Sydney and Ashley Cooper; and by her brother, A L. Grubesic and his wife, Betty of Santa Fe; and her sister-in-law, Marge Komadina, of Corrales; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. DAVEY -- Susan Truscott Davey, 99, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, died on Friday, November 25, 2005 after an extended illness. Mrs. Davey was born on December 1, 1905 in Pennsylvania, and died 5 days short of her 100th birthday. She was born in a Methodist parsonage and lived in a parsonage until her husband retired in 1969. Susan is the last surviving sibling of seven children born to Rev. and Mrs. James Truscott. Susan Davey is the widow of the Rev. Dr. Richard J. Davey, a Methodist minister who served parishes in Pennsylvania, New York, Arizona, and New Mexico. Dr. Davey's last parish assignment was with St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Dr. Davey died in 1987 after a 58-year marriage. Mrs. Davey was an active participant in Methodist activities, holding offices in both district and conference. She was awarded Life Membership status and Special Mission Recognition status with the United Methodist Women's Organization. She was a member of Chapter AW, P.E.O., and the United Methodist Women's organization since 1929. Susan was a partner of her husband in parish activities and she continued her involvement in activities at St. John's until recent years. Mrs. Davey is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Sue Davey of Oceanside, CA, D. Joan Heinsohn and her husband, Robert of Albuquerque; a son, Richard James Davey, MD and his wife, Susan Backes, MD of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005, 3:00 p.m., at Manzano del Sol Good Samaritan Village, 5201 Roma NE, on her 100th birthday, with Pastors Clyde Stanfield and David Edwards officiating. DOVIE -- Washington Dovie was born on November 24, 1912, in Bastrop County, TX to the home of Viola and Isom Reese. She quietly departed this life on November 25, 2005 at Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque, NM. She was 93 years and one day old. In 1929 she married Moses Washington, from this union was born four children. In 1942, the family moved from Texas to Albuquerque and here made their home. Mrs. Washington spent her work life as a housekeeper, waitress and cleaned offices for doctors. At home she provided a loving and warm place for her family and friends. She was a hard-working, honest woman, who valued her family and those she worked for. She loved to cook, cooked great foods and offered to feed whoever came to her home. Mrs. Washington accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. In Albuquerque, she joined Mount Olive Baptist church and was a faithful loyal and supportive member for many years. Her belief and faith in God was unquestioning and her life was in the hands of God. Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Moses Washington in 1977; and by her only son, Henry (Sonny) Washington in 2002. She leaves three loved and loving daughters and a daughter-in-law: Mrs. Mercedes Mott of Albuquerque, Mrs. Algeria Eastman (Benny) of Tampa, FL., Jeanie Johnson (Dickie) of Albuquerque, and daughter-in-law, Helen Washington of Albuquerque. There are 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one godchild (Daryll Young). Surviving are her 11 brothers and sisters: Reverend Sam Reese, Mr. Early Reese, Mr. Isom Resse, Jr. (Louvine); Mrs. Omega Harden all of San Francisco, CA, Mr. Ernest Reese, Reverend Reuben Reese (Lavern), Mrs. Mary Lou Benford, Mrs. Ida Dove, Mrs. Ivory Flowers, Mrs. Ruth Harden "Mose", and Mrs. Faye Goodman, all of Texas; many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Special thanks to Mrs. Exerlona Bramlett of Albuquerque for her many kindnesses and Christian deeds. GOETTING -- Josephine Marmon Goetting, 93, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ray; daughter, Miriam Marmon Goetting; son, R. Chandler Goetting and wife, Susie; grandchildren, Lisa Lee Elkins and Kolby Lee Elkins; great-grandson, Kamron Elkins; one nephew; and five nieces. Josephine taught elementary schools in Grants and Laguna. At times she served the Pueblo of Laguna in the Human Services Division and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Laguna Rainbow Nursing Center, while her mother Susie Reyos Marmon was a resident and where she herself was a resident for the last few years of her life. GONZALES -- JOSEPH VICTOR. Mr. Joseph Victor Gonzales, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2005. Mr. Gonzales is the beloved husband to Mrs. Sally Gonzales, married for 48 years. He is also survived by his children, James Gonzales and wife, Heather, Sharon Apodaca, Karen Gurule and husband, Alex, Terri Kelley and husband, Dan, Vicky Gonzales, Kimberly Gonzales and husband, Amin Marquez; his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Gonzales; one sister, Angie Martinez; two brothers, Leroy Gonzales and Ronnie Gonzales and wife, Marcella; a sister in law, Mary Ruth Maestas and husband, Gene; 14 grandchildren, Vincent, Felicia, Josephine, Bryanna, Joseph, Angelina, Isaac, Josiah, Jesse, Summer, Amber, Joshua, Estevan and Mandy; one great-grandchild, Julian; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Gonzales was preceded in death by his father, David Louis Gonzales and his brothers, Danny and Jimmy. Joseph Victor was raised in Raton and raised his children there as well. He was a member of the Legacy Church, a Veteran of the United States Army, served for 19 1/2 years in the Army National Guard and was retired from the New Mexico State Transportation Department after 25 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, and his sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him dearly. A visitation of family and friends will be from 12:00 noon until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the Legacy Church, 7201 Central NW with a Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m. A reception will follow. GUGGINO -- Marie Assunta Menaldi, 87, entered eternal life on Monday, November 28, 2005. She was born in Youngstown, OH, on Sunday, January 6, 1918, to Edward and Antionette Tisone Menaldi. She is survived by her children: Larry Guggino, Sr. and wife, Patty; Rita Guggino Ware; P. Mario Guggino; and Marc Guggino, Sr., and wife, Lisa. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack L. Guggino; her siblings, Arthur F. Menaldi, Beatrice Zileski, Edward Menaldi, Jr., Margaret Beastro; and her granddaughter, Jeanette Marie Ware. Marie's childhood was spent with her family in Portici, Italy. She graduated from Youngstown Business College and married Jack L. Guggino in 1939. In 1950 they moved to Albuquerque where Marie was active in Regina Coeli Parish and the Italian Women's Club. Mrs. Jaramillo is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Mr. Melcor Jaramillo; three daughters, Elizabeth Pagan and husband, Edward, Patricia Lescano, and Cecilia Duran; four sons, Tony Jaramillo, Roy Jaramillo, Steven Jaramillo, and Felix Jaramillo; one sister, Petra Flores; one brother, David Flores and wife, Angie; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Jaramillo was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation will be held Thursday evening at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Friday morning at St. Anne Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father John. Interment will follow to San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Jaramillo, Roy Jaramillo, Felix Jaramillo, Phillip Lujan, Gilbert Duran, Michael Rivera. JOHNSON -- Phyllis A. Johnson of Oakland, NE, died in her home November 26, 2005. She was 77. She was born in Oakland on May 1, 1928, daughter of the late George V. and Florence E. Dolhanyk. Phyllis married Kenneth S. "Bud" Johnson of Oakland on April 16, 1949. During Ken's 36 years of employment with Hughes Aircraft Co., the couple raised five sons and changed addresses more than two dozen times. Phyllis designed and oversaw construction of several homes during her lifetime. Phyllis had her own catering business while the family lived in Williamsburg, VA, and was a realtor while living in Colorado Springs, CO and Albuquerque, NM. Four years after the death of her husband Ken in 1991, Phyllis relocated to Ft. Myers, FL. In 1998, Phyllis returned to her hometown of Oakland. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was active in church and community services her entire life, most recently by serving on the boards of the Oakland Heights Nursing Home Facility and the First United Methodist Church. Phyllis is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Mike and Janet of Seattle, WA, Greg and Jane of Princeton, NJ, Patrick and Laurie of New Fairfield, CT, and Rick of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by twin granddaughters, Tristen Dawson and husband, Simon and Megan Johnson and fiance, Adam Kuchinski; and by two grandsons, Benjamin and Christopher Johnson; as well as her sister and brother-in-law, F. Ellen and Richard Shaw of Florissant, CO. She was predeceased by her brother, George V. Dolhanyk Jr. and her third son, Kenn S. Johnson. A Memorial Service and reception will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Oakland. MARTINEZ -- Eliseo Martinez, age 72, it is with great sorrow that we morn the passing of Eliseo L. Martinez, a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. MONTANO -- Lisa Marie Montano, age 35, was called home Friday, November 25, 2005. Her career was saving lives as a registered nurse, and she gave the gift of life in giving her organs. RECTOR -- George Donald Rector of Albuquerque, age 71, died peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on November 29, 2005. George was born in Grant City, MO on October 10, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Flola Rector of Tome, NM and brother, Charles Rector. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Hernandez Rector; his daughter, Stephanie Gutierrez-Torok; son-in-law, David; grandsons, Tyler and Parker Torok; his son, Damien Valdespino; and daughter-in-law, Tracy; his in-laws, Judge and Mrs. B. C. Hernandez; sister, Alberta Shaw of Hannibal, MO; sister-in-law, Crissi Letherer (Don); brothers-in-law, Dan Hernandez (Kate Southard), David Hernandez; nieces: Marie Kortan (Rick), Dr. Lorna Stookey (Shawn), Annette Krisco (Mark), Danielle Robison (Will), Aleah and Andrea Letherer; nephews: Bill Daniel, Dave Daniel (Jeanette), Bert Shaw (Jennifer), Jack Hernandez, and Trey Hernandez. George was a retired Math teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools, having taught at Rio Grande High School, Jefferson Middle School, McKinley Middle School, and Los Lunas High School. George wore many hats. He was a past president of the NM Appaloosa Horse Club, horse breeder, and Vice President and partner in Triple S Development Corp. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico and Navy veteran, having served in the Navy during the Korean War. George was a true gentleman; he was greatly loved and admired by his family and numerous wonderful friends. A remembering party is planned for February 19, 2006 when all the family can gather. Interment is to take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. WILEMON -- Roy Bee Wilemon was born July 19, 1916 in Childress, Texas. A resident of Acantilado Vista Retirement Community, Roy passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. Wilemon and is survived by his three daughters, Sandra Jones of Houston, TX., Cindy R. Wilemon, Cathlyn Plemons and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; two sons, Jack Wilemon of California, Bobby Wilemon and wife, Joyce of Arizona; ten grandchildren; other family members and many friends at Acantilado Vista Retirement Community who loved and will miss him.
