ALMY -- Jutta Engelhardt Almy, 95, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 24, 2005 in Albuquerque. A Memorial Service will be held in Albuquerque on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Las Palomas Nursing Home, 8100 Palomas NE. A second Memorial Service will be held in Carlsbad at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 901 North Halagueno on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Carlsbad City Cemetery. Ms. Almy, a longtime resident of Carlsbad, was born on Monday, November 29, 1909 in Salt Lake City to Frederick and Amanda Engelhardt. She graduated from the University of Utah in 1932 and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She was as a teacher in Salt Lake City. In 1935 she married Adrian Lee Almy and moved to Bolivia, South America where Lee worked as a mining engineer. They lived in Arizona in several mining towns before moving to Carlsbad in 1940. Jutta lived in Carlsbad for 56 years where she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included watercolor and bird watching. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she played the organ and was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. In 1996 she moved to Albuquerque to live with her son, Bert, and his family. Her husband, Lee, preceded her in death in 1993. Survivors include daughter Mary Merrell and husband, Max, of Nashville, Tennessee; son Fred and wife, Sarah, of Lakewood, Colorado; son Bert and wife, Sharon, of Tijeras, New Mexico; and daughter Betty Lee Almy of St. Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. BARTHOLOMEW -- James I. Bartholomew "Jim" passed away on May 25, 2005. Jim was born in Raton, NM on October 11, 1938, and raised in Albuquerque, NM. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kay Loftin. He is survived by his wife, Flora Bartholomew, his brother, John Bartholomew, his brother-in-law, Steve Loftin of GA; two nieces, Lisa Inagawa of Peach Tree, GA and Sandy Loftin of Denver, CO; close friends, Scott and Mary Connors and their family, Carolyn Reinicke and her family, all of whom loved Jim and thought of him as family; as well as many, many other friends who will miss him greatly. Jim graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1961 and graduated with his law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1967. He has been a member of the New Mexico State Bar since August, 1967 and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Los Altos Church of the Nazarene, 215 Erbbe NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123.

DAVIDSON -- Judy Ann Davidson, 54, a life-long resident of New Mexico, reached the completion of her generous, loving life on Thursday, May 26, 2005. She is survived by her son, Darren Davidson and wife Charlene of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tiffany Zawisza, Krystal Zawisza, Travis Zawisza, and Kody Davidson; mother, Jewell Overman Smith of Farmington, NM; sisters, Joyce Cardon and husband Lloyd "Butch" and Ramona Smith, both of Farmington, NM; brother, Gary H. Smith and wife Jeannie, of Albuquerque; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Judy is preceded in death by her father, Joseph H. Smith. She was born on August 19, 1950 in Lubbock, TX and moved to Farmington as a young girl. Judy graduated from Farmington High School in 1968. She was very involved in training race horses and active in the many activities surrounding horse racing. Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, May 30, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the State Fairgrounds Race Track Jockey Club. DOWNEY -- Donna Marie Downey, 98, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 in the home of her daughter, Nancy Joan Lueker of Albuquerque. She has also resided with daughter, Gene and Don Pattison of Santa Fe. Donna Marie was born Friday, April 12, 1907 in Mount Pleasant, TX and was the last survivor of Zachary and Lula Jane Latson, six brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Gene Wilson Pattison and husband, Don, and Nancy Joan Lueker; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Anna Downey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irby A. Downey, in 1982 and son, John David Downey, in 1995. Mrs. Downey has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1936. She was active in the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce "beautification campaign" and the Aril Iris Society. She and Irby were recognized in the 1970's as the oldest licensed "flying grandparents." The Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Holy Faith, 311 E. ESPINOSA -- Patrick S. Espinosa, age 51, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on May 25, 2005. He was born in Tierra Amarrilla and made his life in Belen for the last 25 years. Patrick was an Air force Veteran serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He worked at Kirtland Air force Base in Albuquerque. Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, Tobias and Emma Espinosa; and his brother, Toby Espinosa. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Lorraine Espinosa; three daughters, Melanie and husband, Jerry Glaser, Jessica Espinosa, and Karla Espinosa; grandchildren, Allen Glaser, Contessa Glaser; brother, Tony Espinosa and wife, Darleen; sisters, Mida Naranjo and Gloria Ramirez and her husband, David; brother, Gene Espinosa, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 beginning with a Rosary at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. GALLOWAY -- Major John Wesley Galloway, Sr., USAF Ret., a longtime resident of Albuquerque and a WWII veteran, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. He was born on January 7, 1922 in Big Stone Gap, VA and was the son of the late Rev. William Brainard Galloway and Julia Roach Galloway. He graduated from East Stone Gap High School in 1938 and then from King College in Bristol, TN in 1942. After college he joined the US Army Air Corp, attended Officer Candidate School and was trained as a P-47 fighter pilot. He flew 23 WWII air combat missions in France, Belgium, and Germany in 1945. He met and married the former Helen Keylon in 1946 at Kirtland, AFB in Albuquerque, and later married and survived his second wife, Joyce Galloway. John is survived by his brother Jimmy G. Galloway of Big Stone Gap, VA; sister, Virginia Lawson of Kingsport, TN; the mother of his children, Helen Galloway of Albuquerque; and their four children, Judy Galloway of Boulder Creek, CA, Julie Upton and husband Rowen of Richardson, TX, John Galloway, Jr. and wife Monica of Rio Rancho, NM, and Jerry Galloway of New York City; and eight grandchildren, Andrea Waters, Jennifer and Jessica Upton, and Jason, Justin, Dominique, Jacquelyn, and Jeremy Galloway. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julia Ann Galloway in 1947, his second wife, Joyce, and his brother William Graham Galloway. After his service in the war John continued his USAF career serving as a Military Air Transport Service (MATS) pilot and as a finance officer at various air bases, including Lajes AFB, Azores. After his retirement in 1963 he returned to Albuquerque with his family where he had a second full career working for the FAA in New Mexico and Texas. He was a life long sports fan and an avid golfer who had played the old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. GONZALES -- Brother Donald Gonzales O.F.M. died on May 25, 2005 at the age of 69. He was born Arthur Clement Gonzales to Francisco Gonzales and Jacobita Sanchez Gonzales on July 19, 1935 in Blanco, NM where he grew up. Brother Donald professed his first vows in August 16, 1955 in Cincinnati, OH at St. Anthony Shrine. He made his final vows at St. Michaels, AZ on August 16, 1958. He spent his entire ministerial life in the Franciscan missions of the Southwest, serving in Tuba City, AZ, St. Michaels, AZ, and Gallup, NM. He was a member of the Franciscan Brothers Work Crew which was responsible for building the parish church in Shiprock, NM. and various halls and gymnasiums around the Navajo reservation. Brother Donald was a counselor, whose work included referrals and follow up with those who suffered from alcohol addictions. He helped countless other families throughout the reservation and beyond, through his love and devotion. He is survived by his two brothers, Candido Gonzales, and Martin Gonzales; three sisters, Lucy Gonzales, Rebecca Gomez, and Ramoncita Sanchez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Jacobita Gonzales; one brother, Frank Gonzales Jr.; and one sister, Celia Mascareneas. The reception of the body and a Wake Service will take place at St. Michaels Mission Church on Monday evening, May 31, 2005 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Most Rev. Donald E. Pelotte, SSS, Ph.D., Bishop of Gallup at St. Michaels School Chapel on Tuesday morning, May 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Friars' plot at St. Michaels, AZ. Franciscan Friars will serve as his pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Michaels Indian Mission School. Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

GONZALES -- Maria "Sooky" Gonzales, age 46, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher, passed away on Monday evening, May 23, 2005 at her home, after a hard fought battle with cancer. HALE -- Jenifer DeAnne Hale December 19, 1980 - May 25, 2005 Beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Jenifer was taken from us suddenly by her epilepsy. She brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Her voice, her laughter, her beautiful smile and the silly songs she was always making up are now just memories, memories that will never be lost. HOFFMAN -- Daniel Keith "Ziggy" Hoffman was born May 9, 1954 and died May 18, 2005. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry F. KLEBANOFF -- M. Robert (Bob) Klebanoff, MD, passed away peacefully and quickly on May 24, 2005. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jo Klebanoff in 1990 and his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Kasarda Klebanoff in 2003. He is survived by his daughter, Nina A. Klebanoff, Ph.D., and Mellis Schmidt, PhD of Taos Country and Santa Fe, NM; son. David M. Klebanoff, M.D. in Mesa, AZ, John L. Klebanoff in New York City, NY; and granddaughters. Amanda C. Klebanoff and Lindsay D. Klebanoff of Mesa, AZ. He was born in New York City in 1918, was graduated as an M.D. in 1943 from the University of Oklahoma-Norman after obtaining a B.S. in Biology. He entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and was assigned to the 82nd Field Hospital on the Surgical Service in Okinawa, the Philippines, and Korea. After residencies at the Kingsbridge VA Hospital and Neurological Institute at Columbia University in New York, NY, he moved to Albuquerque in 1952 becoming the second Neurosurgeon in the state of New Mexico. He was board certified as a neurosurgeon in 1964. His belief in healthcare for all was unsurpassed. The surviving members of his family fondly remember him for his dedication. MORROW -- Carla J. Morrow of Los Lunas, NM passed away on May 23, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Keith G. Morrow; son, Justin and wife, Crystal; and grandson, Malikai. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Jo Shickler and husband, Mark, and Janet Chavez and husband, Charlie. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Jadd Shickler; Mara and Adam with children, Alana, Amadeo and Andres; Sylvia and daughter, Rhiannon; Andrea and Zion with child, Zion Jr.; Gavin Chavez. Carla was a very compassionate and endearing person who touched so many lives. She will always be in the hearts of her friends and family and we take comfort in knowing she is in heaven watching over us! Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service is pending and will be announced at a later date.

MYRICK -- Maria Clorinda Eunice Lovato (Jean), age 77, passed to the Lord after a lengthy illness. Eunice is survived by her children, Margaret Sadowski, Thomas H. Myrick Jr., Sarah Newman, Catherine and Ella Myrick; grandchildren, Andrea Bisso, Jennifer Sadowski, David Sadowski, Dianna and Shannon Howard, Terrance Myrick; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Faustino Lovato; and sister, Julia Ransom. Eunice, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, was a partner in the business, Tom & Jean's Liquor Store, and retired after 25 years with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, Liaison Division. As a genealogist, she was instrumental in the location and recording of all past and present individuals and families entitled to ownership of the Atrisco Land Grant. Eunice generously donated her time and findings to the Westland Development Corporation. Eunice was a former Harvey Girl, an avid fisherman, and enjoyed going to the casinos. She was well known and will always be remembered for her tortillas, green chili stew, posole, and rellenos. She will be missed by the many who knew her and whom she helped and worked with. Our mother guided and always supported us and we will never forget. Thanks for all you did for us Ma.

NICHOLSON -- Pablita (Polly) Nicholson died peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2005, surrounded by family. Pablita was preceded in death by her parents, Adelaida and Marcelino Pacheco; brother, Frank Pacheco; and sister, Mary Valdez. Pablita is survived by her sons, David Wayne and John Paul Nicholson; daughter-in-law, Sally; grandchildren, Ethan and Rose Scott and their mother, Susan; grandchildren, Tarah and Thomas Nicholson; great-grandson, Julian Lares; and several loving nieces and nephews. Pablita grew up in Mora, NM, and later lived in Los Alamos and Alamogordo before settling in Albuquerque. Pablita worked hard all her life, beginning with her family farm in Mora. Following graduation, she worked at Los Alamos National Labs. She was a homemaker while raising her sons, then later retired from the Social Security Administration. She loved being a grandma, and delighted in passing on traditions to her children and grandchildren such as herbal remedies and games from her youth. Her passion for gardening paid off with bountiful harvests and beautiful blooms! As she requested, cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Queen of Heaven. Private burial will take place at a later date. We would like to thank the friends and family who have responded with loving thoughts and prayers, and for all the help we've received through this difficult time.

SUMMER -- Neva A. Summer passed away Wednesday morning, May 25, 2005 at her residence in Grants. Ms. Summer was born in Hayden, CO on June 3, 1916 to Henry J. Summer and Mattie Elmer Summer. She was 88. Neva Summer moved to the area in 1943 from Colorado and became a resident of Los Cerritos Ranch. Ms. Summer worked in the Los Cerritos Trading Post / General Store on old Highway #66 with her brother in law, Phil E. Bibo for many years. After Phil passed away, she continued to work there until the new store came into the picture on Interstate 40. Ms. Summer loved and enjoyed working with all the people in the local area and came to know generation after generation of families. In 1997 she moved to Grants with her sister, Marie S. Bibo. She is survived by multiple nieces and nephews including 2nd and 3rd Generations. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry J. Summer and Mattie Elmer Summer; her sister, Marie S. Bibo; two brothers, Herbert and Gilbert Summer; two nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Grants Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Lonnie Jordan officiating.
