ARAGON -- Diego ( Hito) Antonio Aragon Jr., age 45, beloved father, son, and brother, grandfather, was called home by our Heavenly Father, Friday, January 28, 2005. Diego was a resident of Pena Blanca, NM and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose and Amelia Aragon, and Salvador Jimenez. He is survived by his children, Laura Aragon, Vicky and husband, Ray Arriola, and Diego Antonio Aragon Jr.; his loving parents, Diego and Sally Aragon; his sisters, Veronica and husband, Severo Romero, Kimberly and husband, Terry Rocheford, Erica and husband, Danny Abeyta; his grandchildren, Julian, Andres Arriola, and Alyssa Aragon. Also surviving are his grandmother, Dolores Jimenez; six nieces; one great-niece; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. Diego will be greatly missed by his loving family. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. ARREY -- Fabian Lawrence Arrey, age 31, was born December 28,1973. He passed away suddenly Friday, January 28,2005. AVILA-BACHICHA -- Taylor Lane Avila-Bachicha, infant son of Jesus Geronimo Avila and Heidi Rachael Bachicha of Albuquerque, died Monday, January 31, 2005. He is also survived by his sisters, Maranda Marie Bachicha and Tamra Ann Long, both of Albuquerque, and Billie Jo Avila of Dallas, TX; brother, David Avila of Dallas, TX; maternal grandparents, Raymond M. and Julie L. Gonzales of Albuquerque; and paternal grandparents, Jose and Dalia Avila of Dallas, TX. Taylor was a fighter. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched in the short time that he was here. BOND -- Jean McFadzean Bond, age 103, of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2005. She is survived by two sons, John of Albuquerque and James and wife, Marilyn of Stuart, FL; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Bond in 1971. Mrs. Bond was born June 7, 1902 and raised in Del Norte, CO and moved to Albuquerque in 1927 when she and Arthur were married. In 1937, she and Arthur joined with Arthur and Mary Nicolai to open Nicolai-Bond Paint Company at 620 West Central Ave. Arthur and Jean Bond bought the interests of the Nicolai's in 1954 and changed the name to Bond Paint Co. Jean was a longtime member of Chapter S, PEO, and a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, and the American Speech & Hearing Assoc. Memorial Services will be held at St. Marks-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church at noon on Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Fitzgerald & Sons Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

C'DE BACA -- Lucinda Garcia C'DeBaca, 93, of Albuquerque died Sunday, January 30, 2005. She was born in Trinidad, CO on August 9, 1911 to J.I. and Estafanita (Roybal) Garcia. Lucinda was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Velma Blankemeyer and her Husband, Harold of Irving, TX and Lucille Kovash and husband, Maurice of San Francisco, CA; and four grandsons, John and Jay Schuyler and Ken and Tim Kovash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albertano, and a son, A. Raymond C'DeBaca. CLARK -- Katy Clark, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died Saturday, January 29, 2005. She is survived by her roommate and best friend of 55 years, Elvah Dale of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Frank Clark (Edna) of Farmington, NM, Harold Gower (Leta) of Livermore, CA, Wendell Phillips (Wanda) of Oklahoma City, OK, Thomas Phillips of San Francisco, CA, L. D. Clark of Crescent City, CA, and John Garicoitz of France; nieces, Delia Bohdan of Sparks, NV, Mary Edna Hefley, of Grand Junction, CO, Betty Dowdy of Martinez, CA, and Ann Clark of TX; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Embert and Delia Clark; six older brothers and sisters, Marian, Mossman, Bess, Nina, Ralph, and Melvin; nieces, Helen Sue and Marian Raye, Clara Lou (Gower) Garicoitz; and nephews, Embert A. Clark, Charles Hefley, and Ben Dowdy. Katy grew up in Farmington and loved her work at the Navajo Methodist Mission School. CROSBY -- Judy Crosby, 64, of Albuquerque for over 50 years, died Sunday, January 30, 2005. She is survived by her sons, David Crosby and wife, Connie of Albuquerque, and Christopher Crosby of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandsons, Cody and Clay Crosby of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Cheyenne Crosby of McAlester, OK; sister, Nancy Perez and husband, Wayman of Joplin, MI; brothers, William E. Blythe and wife, Hortensia of Albuquerque, Phillip Blythe and wife, Viola of Los Lunas, Joseph Barry Blythe and wife, Marcia of Los Lunas, and Ernest Blythe and wife, Marian of Durango, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Crosby, and her brother, Joseph K. Blythe, Jr. As a business owner, Judy was legendary within the world of Indian Arts and Crafts. She loved her family and lived for her time in Red River, NM. She was a dynamic woman with an enormous giving heart. She never said no to anyone in need. EOFF -- W.S. Former State Senator, businessman, and long-time Gallup resident, W.S. "Smitty" Eoff died at his Pagosa Springs, CO ranch on Tuesday, January 25, 2005. He was 84 years old, and the cause of death was lung cancer. Mr. Eoff was born to Frank and Effie Eoff in Snyder, TX on May 6, 1920. They moved to New Mexico in 1934 to homestead. Mr. Eoff married Zoe Caudill in 1941 in Albuquerque, and they were married until her death in 1999. He joined the Navy during WWII and served in the Sea Bees in the Pacific Theater as a welder. He was honorably discharged at the end of the war. After the war, he moved to Gallup, NM and started Navajo Butane. Mr. Eoff's other ventures included: general manager of Navajo Shopping Center in Gamerco, serving on the NM LP gas commission, and as a local bank director. He was a McKinley County Republican State Senator for 12 years. He left Gallup in 1994 and moved to Aztec, NM. He lived there until 2004 when he moved to his Colorado ranch. Mr. Eoff married Lillian Horvat in 2002. She, along with his children, cared for him until his death at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zoe and his son, Dale. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Horvat-Eoff; his children, Zorena Anderson of Durango, CO, Zenise Miles of Albuquerque, Randy Eoff of Pagosa Springs, and Larson Eoff of Durango. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters. There will be a Memorial Celebration of his life on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 801 Municipal Dr., Farmington, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FLESHMAN -- Suzanne Fleshman, 68, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, passed away in the arms of her loving family on Saturday, January 29, 2005. FLYNN -- Rita Ana Flynn, 37, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 8 years, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2005. Rita was born July 22, 1967, the daughter of Toedolo Fuentes and Delia Benevidez Arellano in Rockledge, FL. Rita and her family came to Rio Rancho from the Las Cruces area. She was a registered nurse, and was the Director of School Nurses for the Rio Rancho Public School District. Rita was a member of the Incarnation Catholic Church; the Incarnation Catholic Church Choir; the National Association of School Nurses; and the Rio Rancho High School Rams Booster Club. Rita was very loving and dedicated to her family. She is remembered as a lady who respected and cared for all individuals. Rita is survived by her husband, Bill Flynn; her parents, Ted and Delia Arellano; three children, Chris, Stephen, and Brianna, all of the family home; two sisters, Mariana Caruso and husband, Ron of Las Vegas, NV, and Chela Lucero and husband, James of Albuquerque; one brother, Teddy Arellano and wife, Amy of Oklahoma City, OK. GARCIA -- Joe A. (Chip) Garcia Jr., 32, a resident of Albuquerque and McIntosh, NM passed away on January 29, 2005 as the result of a car accident. Chip is the beloved son, to Erlinda Garcia and Joe A. Garcia Sr. Chip is also survived by his son, Joe (Angel) Garcia III; one sister, Angela Garcia; grandparents, Lorenzo Avalos and Fedelina Garcia; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Chip was a member of the Catholic Church. GRIFFITH -- Dudley Griffith Deceased January 26, 2005 "I am circling around God, around the ancient tower and I have been circling for a thousand years, and I still don't know if I am a falcon, or a storm, or a great song." Dudley was born May 9, 1941 in Santa Fe. His parents and his brother predeceased him in death and have greeted him in heaven. He has left behind his loving companion, Carol Walker, Kathleen his daughter and her companion, Dave, her daughters Kelly and Ellen, and her son Todd; and his son Michael, his wife Beth and their daughter Kate and son Jack. He was loved and loving and shall be missed by his family and many treasured friends. A celebration of Dudley's life will be set for a later date. GUELFI -- Aido G. Guelfi, Sr., 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Saturday, January 29, 2005. He was born in Italy on June 1, 1923. Aido was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was also a member of the Elk's Club, the Lion's Club, and the Italian American Society. Aido is survived by a daughter, Angela Chiado and her husband, John; a son Aido G. Guelfi, Jr. and his wife, Lee; four grandchildren, Geneva, Tony, Mia, and Michaelangelo; and a niece, Gina, all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily and a brother, Alfi. HENRY -- Robert Fox Henry (Bob). Bob Henry, former Albuquerque resident, passed away at his Dallas, TX home on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 after a long illness. He was the son of Joe and Meme Henry of Albuquerque, who followed the family tradition as a pharmacist. He is survived by his son Edward; siblings, Sissy and Joe, Margaret Sterchi and Dana Perigo. There will be a private interment at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral. A memorial gathering will be at the home of Sissy Bartlett will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2005.

JORDAN -- Elsie L. Jordan passed away to be with God on Monday, January 31, 2005. She was born January 16, 1924. Elsie is survived by her son, Jefferson H. Jordan and wife, Norah; daughters, Brenda Towle-Younger and husband, Curtis and Annette Holmes and husband, Odell; grandchildren, Rick Breden, Amber Jordan, Jamie Holmes, Courtney Thomas, and Amanda Holmes; great grandchildren, Lauren, Larisa, Barak and Jordan Breden, and Gavin Holmes; brothers, Buddy and Ray Earl; and sister, Reba Anderson. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson H. Jordan, Sr.; son, George Jordan; and grandson, Jefferson H. Jordan III. She was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church. KUNKLER -- J. L. Kunkler May 23, 1921 - January 28, 2005 J. L. passed away Friday unexpectedly at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was a veteran of World War II, an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps in chemical warfare and Who's Who in science, he was honored and proud, J. L. felt this was one of the greatest achievements he could accomplish. J. L. is a graduate of Muskogee Central High School, a graduate of Oklahoma State University and retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in 1986. Fishing, swimming, and snow skiing were among his favorite things to do. He is preceded in death by his father, Rosco; mother, Jewell; and brothers, Charlie, Paul, and Johnny Kunkler. He is survived by his brother, David Kunkler of Richland, WA; sister, Mildred Ann Black of Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had a loving extended family the Trujillos and Velma, Mark, Leslie, Veronica and Daniel Romero. Numerous friends to many to mention. A great thanks to his loving care givers Karen Trujillo-Serrano, Jimmy and Leandra Serrano. He was very loved for his great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. MAES -- RICHARD CARLOS MAES, age 55, of Santa Fe, passed away Monday, January 31, 2005. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Maes, Mr. and Mrs., George Marquez; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rodarte, Lorenzo Marquez, Ernie Marquez, Frank Maes, Gilbert and Frances Maes, Isabel Maes, Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Maes and Billy Maes. Richard was born May 24, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM, the loving son of Carlos and Rachel Maes. He graduated from St. Michael's High School and Highlands University. He served in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy as a Frogman. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to the P.M.S. Hospice Center, 1400 Chama Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505. He is survived by children: Steve Maes, Mike Maes, and Katie Patterson; brothers and sisters-in-law: George Maes and wife, Anita M. MAESTAS -- Nettie Sylvia Maestas was born in Santa Rosa, NM., July 22, 1936. Nettie was called home, Sunday, January 30, 2005, while surrounded by her family. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eutimio Chavez Jr.; her sister, Alise Leon; her husband, Jose Maestas, and her grandson, Erik Rael. She is survived by her five children, Rose Marie Cruz and husband Larry, Yolanda Gutierrez and husband Frank, Ramona Marchese and husband Arthur, Anthony Maestas, Ruby Brito and husband Tony; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. MARQUEZ -- Alfonso Marquez, age 74, passed away, Friday, January 28, 2005 in Albuquerque. He was born in Silver City, NM. August 2, 1930. A longtime resident of San Antonio, TX., he resided in Albuquerque for the past four months. Alfonso earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering at UNM. He later earned a Masters Degree in Finance and an MBA at St. Mary’s University. He served in the US Navy and as a Captain in the US Air Force. Alfonso spent many years as an Electrical Engineer at Kelly AFB in San Antonio and as a College Economics Instructor. Alfonso is survived by children, Victoria Amada, Cynthia Sutherland, Damien Marquez, Adrian Marquez, Alfonso Paul Marquez, and Kerstan Marquez; three grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Matthew Sutherland and Isabel Marquez; former wife, Elinor Marquez; four sisters, Maria Zandstra, Irene Urvanejo, Estela Sanchez and Martha Romero; many nieces and nephews. Mass will be celebrated at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway SE., at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. MCKINLEY -- Valerie J. McKinley April 4, 1937 - January 29, 2005 Angel Fire resident, Valerie McKinley, died peacefully early Saturday morning January 29, 2005 after 6 months of living through cancer. Valerie and her husband, Warren, built their home in Angel Fire in 1999 and moved there full time in 2002 from Albuquerque. Valerie and Warren had been married only 7 years before moving to Angel Fire. Valerie moved to Albuquerque from New Jersey in 1958, with a short stay in Tennessee in the early 1980s. She held a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and Counseling, and retired from a fifteen-year career as a counselor in the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1999. Valerie was patient, unselfish, spiritual, and a loving friend to all who ever met her. She was an accomplished artist and loved painting. Her great passions in life were her husband, children, family, and especially her grandchildren. She had been involved in the United Church of Angel Fire, Church Bible Study, Garden Club, and the Library. Valerie is preceded in death by her first husband, Stuart Asselin of Albuquerque; and her parents, Charles Auer and Helen Reich Auer. She is survived by her husband; sister, Nancy Hrabal; brother, Larry Auer; sons, Stu Asselin, David Asselin, Timothy Asselin, Matthew McKinley; and daughter, Mary Mckinley Robinson; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Two Memorial Services will be held in her honor, one at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM, Pastor W. MEANS -- Dorene Means, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Sunday, January 30, 2005. She was born in Oklahoma on October 9, 1916. Dorene was a Lifetime member of The National Bridge Association and The Duke City Bridge Club. She served as director for both Local and National Bridge Associations. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile, Optimist Club, Honored Ladies and other civic organizations. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.W. Means, two sisters; Edith Caler and Ruby Caroland; and three brothers; Roy Pace, Worty Pace and John Pace. METCALF -- Naomi Fern Metcalf, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 after a long illness. Naomi was born near Connersville, IN, but was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and worked for over 30 years at the VA Hospital here in the capacity, first, as an RN, and, later, as a nurse practitioner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Thomas Metcalf; by her sister, Mildred Riebsomer; and by her brother, James H. Tate. She is survived by a son, Henry Carter Metcalf of Casa Grande, AZ; a daughter, Marilyn Olaechea and her husband, Juan Luis of Albuquerque; grandson, John Olaechea and his wife, Amy, of Henderson, NV; granddaughters, Christina Olaechea amd Alma Olaechea, both of Albuquerque; nephew, James L. Riebsomer and his wife, Sherrie of Santa Fe, NM; and some very special friends in Albuquerque, Carrolltown, PA, and Ignacio, CO. Naomi was deeply loved by her family and friends. MICHAEL -- Helen Terry. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Helen Terry Michael, 81, died the morning of Friday, January 28, 2005, following a lengthy illness. Helen is survived by her daughter, Erin M. Ruscetti and husband, Joey; granddaughters, Megan C. Chavez, Morgan C. Chavez; sister, Kathaleen Previti; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Michael. Helen spent the majority of her life in Albuquerque where she assisted in the operation of the family owned business, Michael's Bar and Lounge, on Menaul. In addition, she worked for Southern Union Gas Company, Broadway Southwest, and Maloof Industries. Helen was instrumental in the fund-raising efforts for the March of Dimes in the 1960s and the organization of the twenty-fifth and fortieth year reunions for the Albuquerque High School class of 1942. She was also a volunteer for a number of years at Our Lady of Annunciation School. A Memorial Rosary Service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2005, 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Chapel. PICCOLO -- Elizabeth "Nanny" Piccolo, age 99, a former resident of Belen, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2005. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 20, 1905. Elizabeth worked as a book binder for 50 years. She and her husband, James, moved to Belen in 1978 and then moved to Albuquerque in 1998. Elizabeth has resided at Manor Care Nursing Home in Albuquerque for the last five years. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Montgomery; her husband, James Piccolo; grandsons, Thomas J. Duran, John Duran, and James Piccolo; daughter-in-law, Marie Duran. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Rachel Mele of Rockville Center, NY; her son, John Piccolo and his wife, Theresa of Bellrose, NY, and Thomas J. REESE -- Mary E. Reese passed away Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the age of 85. She was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM. Mary was born in Downs, KS. She was the beloved wife of the late James S. She was the sister of Sister Magdalene Bergmann, OSF of Savannah, MO, George Bergmann, husband of Betty Bergmann of Beloit, KS, Margaret Hageman, wife of the late James Hageman of Savannah, MO, the late Father Fritz Bergmann CSC of Beloit, KS, the late John Bergmann and his wife Bernice Bergmann of Dallas, TX. She was the loving grandmother of Robyn Horst, wife of Dan Horst of Boonville, MO, Lisa Parker, wife of David Parker of Castlerock, CO and Shelly Schuster wife of Dan Schuster of Blackwater, MO. She was the devoted great grandmother of Stefan Ebert and Trisha Ebert of St. Louis, MO, Ian Walsh of St. Louis, MO, Holly and Kevin Reese of Albuquerque, NM and Benjamin and Jacob Horst of Boonville, MO. She was the sister-in-law of Jack and Marge Reese of St. Louis, MO, Don Reese of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Jeane Reese of California, Marianne Baldwin of California. She was the loving aunt of numerous nephews and nieces. She was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, where she was a member of the Women's Guild. Mary and Jim enjoyed many happy years as members of the Albuquerque Gem and Mineral Club and the Sandia Thunderbird Travel Club. She will be greatly missed by friends and relatives who loved her.
