BEGLEY -- Mary Louis Begley, daughter of Bernard & Lillian Himes, born in El Paso, TX on September 23, 1923, went home to be with the Lord September 1, 2004. She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Begley Jr. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Carl Sr.; son, Donald & wife, Joyce; son, David & wife, Elaine; daughter, Vickie Aguilar & husband, David; her grandchildren, Ivan & wife, Gisela, Dylan, Melinda & husband, Eric, Caiti, Michelle & husband, Brock, Philip & wife, Christina, and Coleman; and her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Avery, Elyse, Max, Mikayla, Melia, Haeleigh, and Liam. Mary retired from US West in 1976 and spent the remainder of her life pursuing her passion for travel and enjoying God's creation. CHAMPION -- Richard Wayne Champion, 54, passed away on September 2, 2004 after a long illness. Richard was a loving and giving man, a computer geek and had a soft heart for his pets. His mother delivered him alone and at home on September 16, 1949 near the Cherokee Reservation at Stillwell, OK. Richard's family moved to Albuquerque in 1952 when he was three. He graduated from Sandia View Academy in 1968, and then joined the Navy that year where he cared for burn victims from the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Albuquerque in 1978. Richard started working in the Arcade industry, repairing video games in 1981, which led him to his love of computers. He was proud of the work he did for the Adventist Churches in the Albuquerque area, helping them build and repair their computer systems. His father, Ira Champion, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Carol; and daughter, Liz, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Lucy Peters of Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Lucille of Wichita Falls, TX; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Wichita Falls), Melvin (Las Vegas), Sallye Donley (Wichita Falls), and Cheri Costales (Albuquerque); two granddaughters in Las Vegas; and many other family and friends. He was a Charter Member of Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Sunday September 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4920 Wyoming NE. GARCIA -- Antonio "Tony" Garcia, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961 and retiree of Sandia Labs, passed on Thursday, September 2, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Evangeline U. Garcia of Albuquerque, three daughters, Viola Garduno and husband, Daniel of Albuquerque; Kathie E. Martinez and husband, Cruz of Rowland Heights, CA; Mary Ann Hansen and husband, Gilbert of Las Vegas, NV; three sons, Anthony "Sonny" Garcia, Jr.; Ralph Garcia and wife, Kathy, and Steven J. Garcia all of Albuquerque; two sisters, Nora Garcia and Magdalena Urioste all of Las Vegas, NM; a brother, Luis Garcia and wife, Ida of Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Daniel F. Garduno, Jr., Cynthia M. Garduno, Adrian Garcia, Jennifer L. Hansen, Denise L. Martinez-Zerra and Stephen A. Garcia and great granddaughter, Macie L. Skretteberg-Garduno. He was preceded in death by a daughter Evangeline Marie Garcia. A Rosary will be recited by Flora Gomez Friday, September 3, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. LUCERO -- Mary Chavez Lucero. On September 1, 2004, Mary C. Lucero, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief and brave battle with lung cancer. Mary was born November 29, 1922. She graduated from Albuquerque High School, class of 1940. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Veneranda Chavez; brothers, Anthony and Victor Chavez; and son, Paul A. Lucero. Mary is survived by her sisters, Susie C. Sena, Virginia Chavez; and brother, Ambrose V. Chavez. She is also survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas J. Lucero; and children: Robert T. Lucero, Ramona M. Lucero and husband, Mike Thompson, Andrew Chavez Lucero and wife, Sian Hughes, J. Ambrose Lucero, Larry M. Lucero and wife, Jan Lucero, Frances A. Lucero, Mary Ann Lucero and partner, Gloria Baca, and Michael J. Lucero and wife, Margo Lucero; her grandchildren, Leeane M. Henry, Bryan R. Lucero, Paul T. Lucero, Marc A. Lucero, Damon A. MARES -- Cordelle Mares, 46, a resident of Clearwater, FL, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004. MARTIN -- Catherine Louise Martin passed away in Glendale, CA on August 30, 2004. She was born December 6, 1921 in Charleston, IL to Erma and John James Ryan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William John Martin. She is survived by their son, William David Martin, and his wife, Darlene Wanger, both of Los Angeles. She also leaves a brother, James Robert Ryan and sister-in-law, Jan Ryan, of Macon, MO; as well as nephew, Michael Ryan and wife, Peggy; and nephew, Charles Ryan, all of Blue Spring, MO; also best friend, Mary Adams, and dearest Friends, Diana Hitt Potter of Dragonfly Hill, Tyingham, MA and George Ivan Matula of Albuquerque, NM. She was a sergeant in the Women's Marine Corps in World War II; she received her degree in Education from Harris College, St. Louis, later teaching kindergarten in the St. Louis Public Schools. In 1946, she and William Martin were married in St. Louis. Together, they attended Yale University on the G.I. Bill where they both earned their M.F.A. in theater from Yale Drama School. They worked together in theater at Middlebury College, VT, Williams College, Williamstown, MA, Sarah Lawrence College, NY, Culver Military Academy, Culver, IN. They also worked together at the Merry-Go-Round Theater, Sturbridge, MA, Williamstown Summer Theater, and Cross-Right-Stage Theater in Falmouth, MA. Mr. Martin was Director of Popejoy Concert Hall, at UNM, from 1966 until 1992. She helped in this work in various ways. For twenty years she was administrative secretary for the English Department at UNM. Catherine was a member of the American Business Women's Association, and of NM-1-Sandia Woman Marines Association. She was a member of Screen Actors Gold for over twenty years, and helped draft the original New Mexico Regional SAG Constitution. She appeared in a number of movies filmed here in New Mexico. She may be best remembered for stage performance in Albuquerque, among which were "House of Blue Leaves" at Rodey Theater and "Becket's Women" at the Vortex. She bids a fond Shakespearian farewell to relatives and friends at this final curtain, and "curtain going up" always to the theatrical community

NEUMEYER -- Glenn B. Neumeyer, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 14 years, died Friday, September 3, 2004. He is survived by his son, Nick Neumeyer and wife, Lisa of Torrance, CA; sister, Kaye Krause and husband, Gayle of El Dorado, KS; cousin, Joanne Cooley and husband, Daryl of El Paso, TX; three grandchildren, Scott, Royce, and Teah; and two great-grandchildren, Castin and Elyssa. Mr. Neumeyer was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Neumeyer. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Sunday, 2:00 p.m., at Word of Life Restoration Church, 1605 San Pedro NE, with Steven Harrell officiating. ROSS -- Clay M. Ross, 90, born Monday, September 29, 1913 in Monticello, AR, died Monday, August 30, 2004 at his home in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by his family. Clay was the third of five children of Walker Clay and Ethel Thomas Ross. After graduation from the University of Arkansas in 1937, he received a Masters Degree from the University of Virginia in 1939. Clay proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the battleship USS North Carolina, participating in eleven major Pacific Campaigns. He was recalled to Washington, DC during the Korean War and left the service in 1956 as a Commander. Clay was instrumental in creating the Naval Reserve in Oklahoma City, OK. After 30 years of services in various locations and positions, Clay retired from Sears Roebuck and Company as Group Manager, Kansas City in 1977. Returning to Albuquerque with his wife, Kathryn "Kit," Clay joined the staff of Berger Briggs where he worked until his passing. From early childhood he was an active and dedicated member of several Presbyterian Churches, serving as both Deacon and Elder. In addition to his extensive church work, Clay was a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, a Rotarian "Fellow," a member of the Albuquerque Country Club and was associated with numerous other Organization and Boards. Clay is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Kathryn "Kit"; daughters, Amy McGhie Ross of Albuquerque and Gretchen Ross Odum and husband, Marvin Odum, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Debbie Odum Hutchinson and husband, Joe, of College Station, TX, Marvin Odum III and wife, Mariloli, of London, England, Brian Odum and wife, Suzanne, and Marcus Odum and wife, Michelle, all of Houston, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Marvin IV, Taylor, Alexandra, Madison, Hayes, and Morgan; brother, Lamar Ross and wife, Erma, of Monticello AR; sister, Helen Stuckey of Monticello, AR; brother, William Fay Ross and wife, Joy, of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law, Lexie Triesch of Long Beach, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, September 6, 2004 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. TRUJILLO -- Yvonne "Bonnie" Trujillo, 55, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday August 29, 2004. a resident of Albuquerque, She will be missed by all her close friends and lifelong companions for her great sense of humor and compassionate friendship. Yvonne was born in Raton, NM to the late Joseph L. LePore.
