BAROS -- David Baros, 38, went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2004. He was born on March 10, 1966 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. CARTER -- Nancy Lea Carter - February 15, 1939-May 4, 2004 Nancy went to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday after a living life joyously and to the fullest. Born in Charles City Iowa to Laverne Arthur Page and Donna Pearl Page, Nancy was a graduate of the UNM School of Nursing, where she was a dedicated student and fostered many lifetime friendships. Nancy joined APS as an elementary counselor. She then worked proudly as a nurse at Lovelace Hospital, owned and ran a nurturing child care center, Sleepy Bee and then returned again to nursing at Presbyterian Hospital, from where she retired. Nancy was a dedicated member and officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution-as well as the Albuquerque Genealogy Society. Through her participation in these organizations and the friendships she acquired, Nancy was able to research and write many books on her family lineages. She was always pleased and proud to meet and share knowledge with distant relatives as they worked to piece together accurate family histories. Nancy was an active member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She shared a great love of the Lord with a true and wonderful group of friends. She was a member of a weekly quilting group and also a member of the La Noche Garden Club. Nancy enjoyed the adventure of travel and held a great fondness for the New Mexico outdoors. Nancy is survived by her mother Donna Page and brother Don Page of Albuquerque, niece Krista Page of San Diego, CA and aunt and uncle Florence I. and JD Thomson also of Albuquerque. Nancy was surrounded in life and in death by numerous kind, loving and generous friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 11 at 6pm in the sanctuary of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy N.E. 821-1993. CAUGHRAN -- Elsie Faith Caughran, 83, passed away very peacefully at home May 7, 2004. Elsie was born in McComb, OK, May 19, 1920 to John & Eva Bliss and moved to Grady, NM when she was 5 years old. She married her first grade sweetheart James Virgil Caughran on June 29, 1941. Elsie went to collage in Portales, NM and taught school in Columbus and Grady, NM for several years. She and Virgil moved to Dove Creek, CO in the mid 1940?s where she taught school and helped Virgil farm and run his LP Gas business. She has lived in Albuquerque for over 45 years where she helped Virgil with his Real Estate business and took care of her son Don. Elsie was an active volunteer for the Lovelace Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. Elsie was a wonderful pianist playing for the Methodist Churches wherever she lived. She was an avid reader, loved to play bridge with her many friends and loved to be outdoors and work in her garden. She loved to spend time with Virgil at their Mount Taylor home. She was a very active member of the communities where she lived. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents and her son Don. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Virgil Caughran of Albuquerque, NM; her sister Mildred Merrill of Clovis, NM; one niece and many nephews ;her daughter ?in-law and other family. Elsie was an elegant, charming, warm, nurturing lady who loved people and people loved her. She always had a smile and lent a helping hand. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Private family internment will be held. GALLEGOS -- JAMES "Bubs" DAVID GALLEGOS, 20, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away Thursday May 6, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born May 8, 1983 in Albuquerque, NM, to Arnold Gallegos, and Lori L. Ward. James graduated from Moriarty High School 2001, in high school he was very active in wrestling, and football. He was also the youngest little league baseball umpire. James was a Sales representative for Coca Cola, a Senior Airman with the Air National Guard, and loved to ride his motorcycle. He is survived by his father and step mother Arnold and Belinda B. Gallegos; mother and step father Lori L. and James M. Lee; two brothers Justin A. Smith, and Benjamin A. Gallegos; Grandparents Laudente Sr. & Gloria Gallegos, James R. & Shirley J. Ward, and Linda S. Freeman; God parents Don & Judy Anderson. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. James "Bubs" David Gallegos will be remembered as a young man who lived life on his terms, that knew what he wanted, worked hard to get it, and had no regrets. He will be greatly Missed by all that knew and loved him. James will lie in state Monday May 10, 2003-4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. GONZALES -- Paul Gonzales, age 51, passed away May 7, 2004 in Albuquerque following a sudden illness. Paul was born June 28, 1952 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Jose S. and Sophie Valverde Gonzales. Survivors include his wife Christine of the family home in Santa Rosa, his daughter Celestina Blair and husband Jonathan of Colorado, his grandchildren; Jonathan, Christopher and Alyssa, his step-father Jose Gonzales of Rio Rancho, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Rosary services will be conducted on Monday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. GRINE -- Tony Elias, 56, passed away May 6, 2004. He was born February 16, 1948 in Roy, NM, the second oldest of 9 brothers and sisters. He is survived by wife Yolanda H. Grine, 4 sons; Elias Grine and wife Maria, Abrian Grine, Demetrius Grine, Clovis Grine and fianc Veronica Mendez, 2 daughters; Genaia Lucero and husband Ernie, 5 grandchildren; Kwame, Artina, Eli, Kianna, and Alysha Grine, numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss him. In our hearts and minds we are left with fond memories of a loving man whose world revolved around his family, who grew close around him. We all share a special love for him. JONES -- Angela "Gay Sue" Jones, 46, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Friday, May 7, 2004. She is survived by her parents, Odell and Bobbie Jones of Albuquerque; sisters Melody Zellmann and husband Douglas of Glendora, CA, and Melissa Trainum and husband Chad of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews Erica, Samantha, and Cassandra Zellmann, and Kaylee and Tyler Trainum; grandmother, Alta Jones of Checotah, OK; uncles, Charles Jones, Jimmy Jones, and Joel Jones; and aunts, Margaret Moore and Barbra Barbee. KELLY -- Lewis Kelly, lifelong rancher in Catron County, expired in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 6, 2004, at 88 years of age. Mr. Kelly was born January 2, 1916, in Alma, New Mexico, to Susana and William (Bill) Kelly. Survivors are daughters Patsy Wach of Taunton, Mass., Nancy K. Reijonen of Portland, Or., son Lewis W. (Bill) Kelly of Rio Rancho, NM, sisters Felista Morgan Smith of Hurley, NM, and Susie Nash of Reserve, NM. Mr. Kelly is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceeded in death by his wife of almost 51 years, Genevieve Atwood Kelly, and his son, David L. Kelly. Lewis lived his entire life on the Kelly Ranch, on Gutache Mesa, North of Glenwood, NM. He is probably one of the last of the old time rancher/cowboys in this area, known far and wide, and had a very colorful sense of humor. Services include the rosary, which will be held on 5-10-04 at 7:00 pm with viewing beginning at 6:00 pm at the Middle Frisco Catholic Church in Reserve, NM. The funeral mass will be on 5-11-04 at 10:00 am at the same location with graveside services following at the Alma Cemetery near Glenwood NM. Pallbearers are Clay Atwood, Shane Atwood, Harold Keith, Wilson Kelly, Lester Peralta and Wayne Shellhorn. KLEIN -- Stuart Thomas Klein, 45, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2004. He is survived by his loving companion Marie Fisher of Santa Fe, NM; mother Coryn Klein of Albuquerque, NM; sister Pam Hill of Algodones, NM; sister Heidi Nelson of Pasco, WA; and cousin and friend Van Genung of Albuquerque, NM. He was a devoted uncle to Nathan and Karen Hill of Albuquerque, NM; Lauren Hill of Algodones, NM; Simona, Ian, Emily, and Meg Nelson of Pasco, WA; and great uncle to Jasia Moseley of Albuquerque, NM. Many folks in the UNM area knew him due to his presence at various venues associated with his extremely eclectic tastes in music, books, and movies. He was a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, NM and held various jobs around town including cooking and retail. He was a gifted artist who generously shared his talents with his family and friends. His living space was itself a work of art and Stuart's family would like to share it one last time with all those who would care to stop by. KRUGER -- N.J. "John" Kruger, 93, a resident of Albuquerque died at home on Sunday, May 9, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Kelly and husband, Hank of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Warren Kelly of Taos, Rachel Robinson, and husband Paul of Albuquerque, Amy Kruger Powe, and husband Bill of New Orleans, LA and Michal Sharon Kelly of Albuquerque; and three great-grandchildren, Bryce and Thomas Robinson, and William Powe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Kruger and his son, John Byron Kruger. John was born March 15, 1911, in New Mexico Territory. During his formative years, his family homesteaded throughout New Mexico and Oklahoma. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Engineering in 1935, John returned to New Mexico to participate with the design of buildings at both Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, working closely with Willard Krueger. All the while, he returned for planting and harvest on homesteads in Richland, County, Oklahoma. In 1955, John and architect Gerald Lake formed a partnership that evolved into the firm of Kruger, Lake, Pogue, Hutchinson and Brown in Albuquerque. Upon retiring, John Kruger enjoyed cultivating a large garden at his North Valley home, while keeping an office well into his 90's. Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A memorial service will follow in Oklahoma City. MURPHY -- Willard "J.W." Murphy, 86, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1980, died on May 6, 2004. He is survived by his son, Willard "Bud" Murphy and wife, Mary of Mosier, OR; daughter, Madeleine Padilla and husband, Cleofas of Corrales, NM; grandchildren, Mariposa Padilla-Sivage and husband, Kelly of Albuquerque, Alegra Bishop and husband, Brandon of Camp Verde, AZ, Vanessa Szanto and husband, David of Flagstaff, AZ, Laura Murphy of Albuquerque and Andrew Murphy of Mosier, OR; sister, Sue Bruce of Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Faye Murphy and one brother, William Murphy. Willard was a member of the Norte Dame Alumni Association. He was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Willard was a wonderful grandfather and was loved by his children and grandchildren and will be missed dearly. OBERT -- Arden L. Obert lost his battle with cancer at 9:37 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2004. He was born April 15, 1935 in Lockwood, MO. He served our country in Korea, as a cook for the First Cavalry Division Service Battery, 19th Artillery. After his discharge from the Army, he spent 2 1/ 2 years in New Orleans working for Boeing in quality control on the Saturn 5 first stage rocket program. During the Vietnam conflict, Arden once again served our country as a civilian employed by L.S.I. repairing battle damaged helicopters. Arden fell in love with New Mexico while working in Roswell for Boeing modifying B-52 bombers. He finally made his dream of living in New Mexico come true in 1993. Arden leaves behind to remember him his adopted family, Rick and Julie Lozowski, Jeff and Azuree Jones and their sons, Taylor and Duane; two brothers and their families; and one sister and her family survived him. Arden will best be remembered for his love of children and the welfare of neglected and abused kids. donations can be made to the ARDEN L. PIKE -- David S. Pike, 37, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, May 6, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Pike; son, James David Pike; daughter, Ashley Marie Pike, all of Albuquerque; brother, John Stanley Pike of Dallas, TX; sister, Cristel Ann Pike; mother-in-law, Louise Roberts, both of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law, Bill Luckhardt of Columbia, SC. David graduated in 1984 from Sandia High School and married Dawn Luckhardt in September, 1993. He had worked for Mechanical Solutions for the past six years and was also a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He loved drag racing, his Camaro, and trips to the lake with his family. He was a loving and caring husband and father. Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. at French Mortuary - Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. SMITH -- Edward G. Smith died in Houston Texas after a long illness. He was born and raised in Albuquerque and attended Sandia High School and graduated from Taos High. He is survived by his wife Linda Sullivan-Smith, his parents Ralph C. and Mary Della Smith, brothers Curtis and Ralph, step children and grand children and other relatives. He served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp. He was a commercial/executive pilot and operated a home business. Cremation and memorial was held in Houston and he was returned to New Mexico for final resting.

TAPIA -- Mrs. Atanacia D. Tapia, 86, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 7, 2004. Mrs. Tapia is survived by her two sons, Larry D. Tapia and wife, Theresa M., Roger Tapia and wife, Marianne; five grandchildren, Theresamarie Tapia, Larry D. Tapia I I, Antonio Tapia and wife, Sheila Kvasnikoff, Johanna Jiron and husband, Feliciano and Christian Babington; seven great grandchildren, Natasha, Antsia, Katie, Maximus, McKenzie, Stephanie and John; two sisters, Felia Lucero and Rosie Duran; one brother, Jose Maria Duran and wife, Rebecca; many sisters and brothers in law; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Tapia was preceded in death by her husband, Willie O. Tapia. Mrs. Tapia was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mrs. Tapia will be Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m by Doris Zamora. A final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Joel Garner and Deacon Lorenzo Castillo. WIMS -- Pauline Bell Wims of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, April 3, 2004, after a short illness. She was born October 12, 1914 in Hollis, Oklahoma. She is survived by her son-in-law, Arnold Stokes; granddaughter, Kathrine Stielman; grandsons, Michael, Johnathon, Thomas, Christopher, and Peter Stokes; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pat Wims; daughter, Gay Stokes; and sister, Ruth Kennedy. Mrs. Wims lived a long and happy life and was ready to join her maker.
