Apodaca -- Johnny M."Shorty" Apodaca, 50, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Kendra Drane, both of Albuquerque; brother, Joe Newstrom and wife, Inez, of Corona, CA; sisters, Connie Apodaca and Marleen Apodaca, both of Albuquerque, Adeline Apodaca, of Gardena, CA, and Anna Mae Apodaca of Albuquerque; Godson, Cael John Paul Apodaca of Albuquerque, and many other aunts, uncles, loving family members, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Pauline Apodaca and sister, Mary Lee. The joy in his life was spending time with his family whom he cherished. He also loved to play baseball and basketball and was loyal DallasCowboys Fan. He had a big heart and enjoyed helping people recently becoming a substance abuse counselor. Clark -- Cruzita"Chris" Clark, 57, a resident of Albuquerque died Monday, March 10, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Robert Clark; sons, Darren and Denny Marquez; and brother, Nick Pino all of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Pino; and parents, Samuel Pino and Gabrielita Sisneros Pino. Mrs. Clark was originally from Anton Chico, NM. She was an active member of numerous golf associations, including being a Board Member of Arroyo Del Oso Women's Golf Association. She was a Guild member of the New Mexico Quilter's Association. Crawford -- Lucas Neal Crawford, 23, passed away in a tragic accident after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his father, Richard W. Crawford and wife, Marsha Briggs of Springfield, OH; mother, Maureen Crawford and partner, Flak Rackham of Albuquerque; sister, Sara Kay Crawford and partner, Andy Fackrell of Amsterdam, Netherlands; grandmother, Eileen Crawford; and grandfather, Joseph Kivlen. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Victor Neal Crawford; and grandmother, Elizabeth Kivlen. Lucas was an aspiring musician and a kind and gentle human being. Dominguez -- David Edward Dominguez, age 47, was born May 11, 1955 and went home to be with the Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ. David passed away at his family home on March 9, 2003. He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Eva Dominguez; two daughters, Kristale Daylenea Dominguez and Sarah Tracey Dolores Dominguez; one son, Dominick Joe Mariano David Dominguez; his loving caring father, Joe M. Dominguez; mother, Susie Baca; five brothers; and one sister; many nieces, nephews and friends who loved and will miss him. Douglas -- Alvera Louise Douglas, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2003. Alvera was born in Sopris, CO on August 16, 1924. She graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, CO and earned a Masters Degree from Rosary College in River Forest, IL. She spent most of her life working as a librarian for the Albuquerque Public Schools. She had a deep love for children and animals and was a devoted grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Nanci Lynn Cairns, son-in-law, Norman Cairns; grandson, Sean Robert Cairns; brother, John Marcon, Jr.; sister-in-law, Freda Marcon, all of Albuquerque; sister, Albina Huffman of Durango, CO. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Marybeth and Raymond Miller as well as a numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Marcon; brothers, Louis, Mario and Anthony Marcon and sisters, Angelina Maccagnan, Mary Steinhage, and Anne Hinton. Emarine -- Mare (Mary) A. Emarine, 63, a resident of Albuquerque forť 26 years, died March 8, 2003 at the family home, after an extraordinarily courageous five year battle against ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Emarine; sons, Jeffrey Emarine and wife, Laura of Carlsbad, NM, Michael Emarine and wife, Tracey of Silver City, NM; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Joshua, and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her mother, Adele Karolin and her grandmother, Pauline Krabu. Mare was born on May 9, 1939 in Tallin, Estonia. Mare, her mother and grandmother survived the German and Russian invasions and occupation of Estonia during WWII only to be deported to Germany. In Germany, they were placed in a concentration camp where Mare's mother was a forced Laborer in a Nazi Defense Factory. In 1945, the U.S. Army liberated the family. In 1949, they emigrated to the U.S. and settled in San Pedro, CA. The family arrived in the U.S. with two suitcases, a knapsack containing bedding and Mare's Teddy Bear. Mare resided in San Pedro until 1965 when she and Larry married. She attended San Pedro High School and Long Beach State University. Prior to being married, she worked at the Los Angeles County City Attorney's Office in San Pedro. Mare was a dedicated military wife from 1965 to 1988 while her husband was in the U.S. Navy. They were stationed in Long Beach, CA, Yokosuka, Japan, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Washington DC, and Albuquerque, NM. Mare was an Avon Sales representative for 15 years and loved the job primarily because many of her customers became good friends over the years. Some of her favorite activities were reading, music, plays, gourmet cooking, lunches with friends, and spending time with her sons and their families. Mare loved her many friends from her garden club, water aerobics class, and her neighborhood. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who raised two wonderful and successful sons. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and administrative personnel of the UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center, UNM Hospital, and University Hospice for their outstanding care, compassion and assistance during Mare's struggle with cancer. Services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles, Col. USAF. (Ret). Giron -- Dolores E. Giron, 88, a resident of Albuquerque for over 50 years, went to her final rest on Monday, March 10, 2003 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Giron; daughter, Evelyn; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Julian J. Cordova; two brothers, Pascual and Julian Cordova. Dolores is survived by her grandson, Randel Markey; granddaughter, Elaine D. Grienfinger; sister-in-law, Mary Giron of Polvadera, NM; sisters, Fannie Maestas of Bernalillo, Carmelita Aragon and husband Pablo; brothers, Emilio S. Cordova and wife, Pablita of Cuba, NM, Joe M. Cordova and wife Susan, Paul Cordova and wife, Bea of Albuquerque and Onofre Cordova and wife, Marty of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. She was born on December 30, 1914 in Cuba, NM. Dolores graduated from Menaul High School and the University of New Mexico. She was an educator in several schools in New Mexico. Larson -- Eleanor Larson, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1983 died Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband, Loyle Larson, two of her children Charles and Bill; her three brothers, Aubrey, Clifford, and Larry; and her two sisters, Mildred and June. She was a devoted wife for 33 years and the mother of three, Karen, Charles, and Bill. Eleanor retired as Chief Operator from Northwestern Bell in Aberdeen, SD and loved the job because of the many friends that she made while there. Some of her other favorite activities included reading, knitting, and spending time with her family. Eleanor had a kind and gentle nature and will be missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Loomis -- Alejandro S. Loomis, 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2003. He was born on October 19, 1915 in Pojoaque, NM. Mr. Loomis was a WWII Veteran. He is survived by his wife Lucinda Loomis; son F. Morphew -- Michael Zane Morphew, born July 11, 1942 in Albuquerque, NM left this world Sunday morning March 9, 2003 at his daughter's home. He is survived by his daughter Jane and her husband David Stauffer, and best buddies since childhood, Dick Stong and Ron Richards. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard"Dicky" Morphew. Mike graduated from Valley H S. in 1960. His favorite years were spent in the Marine Corps from 1960-64 where he was trained in radio telegraph operations as an artillery spotter and traveled the world. He was honorably discharged Corporal E-4 in 1966. He graduated from the Drafting Technology program at TVI in 1970 and with a Bachelor of University Studies from UNM in 1977. For most of his career he was a civil draftsman. Upon his diagnosis of lung cancer he had been employed with Bohannan - Huston Inc. for 12 years. To everyone at BHI, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry there wasn't more contact. Dad was very stoic and private and didn't want to be fussed over. His ashes will be scattered in the Pecos mountains to roam with Dicky and the rest of the Zummach clan. I love you dad. I'm going to miss my movie buddy. Phillips -- Jack L. Phillips, 68, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2003. Jack had been a resident of Farmington, NM since 1969. He is survived by his wife, GeorgiAnna of the family home in Farmington; daughter, Gina and husband, Steve Upton; their daughters, BryAnna and Kaiya; daughter, Danielle and husband, Pat Denney; their children, Hope, Austin and Joseph all of Farmington; son, Clyde Norton and wife, Judy of Aurora CO; son, Jimmy Norton of Oklahoma; and three daughters by a previous marriage. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Bob) and wife, Doris Phillips of Bosque Farms; mother-in-law, Edna Keloff; brother-in-law, Michael and wife, Chris Keloff of Phoenix; numerous nieces and nephews; and hundreds of friends. Jack, an electrician, was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #611 and was employed by Four Corners Electric in Farmington. Jack loved the outdoors, was an avid golfer, loved to travel, he was generous, bighearted, always willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Richie; daughter, Carol Jackson and husband James; granddaughter, Sarah Jackson; sister, Bobbie Egly of California; nephews, Mike Moore and wife, Darlene of Los Lunas and J. Roy Richie of Melvin, TX; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Fritz was a 50-year member of Carpenters Local Union 1319 in Albuquerque. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 23rd Infantry Division and took part in the invasion on Omaha Beach. Fritz was awarded the Purple Heart, an Oakleaf Cluster, and a Combat Infantry Badge. He retired from the University of New Mexico in 1980. Fritz was a member of Good News Baptist Church in Los Lunas. Services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Pastor John Richards officiating. Sanchez -- Mrs. Cleo F. Sanchez passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Albuquerque at the age of 78. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. She was always willing to help others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Sanchez is preceded in death by her parents, Elvia and Bonaficio Fresquez. She is survived by her husband, Jacobo Sanchez; sons, Orlando Sanchez, Ray Sanchez and wife, Josie; Jacobo Sanchez Jr. and wife, Valerie; and Stephen Fresquez and wife, Kari; daughters, Mary Gonzales and husband, Alex; JoAnne Chavez and husband, Trinnie; and Irene Darras and husband, Larry; brother, Nelson Fresquez and wife, Fritzie; sister, Olivama Fresquez; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sanchez will be held on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.ťBurial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Leo Darras, Michael Darras, Jaime Sanchez, Vincent Gonzales, Gabriel Sanchez, and Christopher Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Fresquez and Fabian Sanchez. Schell -- Vernon G. Schell, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Anna Kaseman Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne D. Schell; three children, John, who resides with his wife, Peg in Ewing, NJ, David Schell and Julie Lyon of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren, Paul and Jane of ID, Jeremy and Matthew of Albuquerque and Bryan of NJ; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Mathew and Emily; stepmother, Pearl Schell; and sister, Phillis Burtner of PA; sister-in-law, Gladys Kovaluk of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law, Jack DesRochers of CA. Mr. Schell was an aircraft electrician and spent 43 years in military plus federal service. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2003, 1:30 p.m. at Chester T. Swingle -- Patricia Swingle, 72, passed away at home on Sunday, March 9, 2003. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Pat was an active volunteer for the Democratic Party and a constant recruiter. Her family and friends knew her as a"free spirit", a great cook and a champion of the underdog. Her selfless nature was so genuine and was cherished by all who knew her. Pat was born in Zanesville, Ohio on November 2, 1930. She met and married Bill Swingle in Zanesville in 1948 and they moved to Albuquerque in 1952. Pat is preceded in death by her father, Palice Pendley and is survived by her mother, Dorothy Pendley; her husband, Bill Swingle; her brother, Jerry Pendley and Karen, her children, Cindy Sterns, Debbie Rose and husband, Allan, Steve Swingle and wife, Kathy, Becki Lorimer and husband, Tom, Bruce Swingle and wife, Rene, Melinda Wieser; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, March 13, 10:00 a.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Pastor Fred Gurule officiating, Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
