Bencomo -- Augustine Acosta Bencomo, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Carmen; daughters, Josie Bencomo and Alicia Bencomo, all of Albuquerque, Gloria Whidby and husband, Don of Buford, GA and Tina Lopez and husband, Larry of Los Lunas; sons, Roberto Bencomo and wife, Joan and Matias Bencomo and wife, Rose, both of Albuquerque; three granddaughters, Aileen Gottlieb, Andrea Bencomo and Monica Nicholson; six grandsons, Marc and Michael Whidby, Danny and Julian Bencomo, Chris Perez and Adam Bencomo; two great-granddaughters, Alex and Taylor Gottlieb; and his paloma, Kathleen Connell; sisters, Katy Ortiz and Aurora Moya; and brothers, Basilio Bencomo and Pete Espinoza. Blevins -- Ollie Clifton Blevins, 73, passed into Jesus arms while surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 8, 2001 after battling cancer for months. He was born on April 2, 1928 to Arley E. and Esther E. Blevins of Crosby, TX. The family moved to Grants, NM in 1942, where they operated a lumber and sawmill business for many years. Ollie wore many"hats" during his adult life. He was a Baptist minister and bi-vocational missionary to Native Americans and others for 49 years in Arizona and New Mexico. He earned his Masters Degree from Northern Arizona University of Flagstaff and taught school for 12 years. He worked in the family lumber business at Grants, NM until his retirement in 1996. Ollie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grants for many years and served as deacon and missionary. For the past three and half years, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Los Lunas where he also served as deacon, teacher, and supply preacher. In addition, Ollie participated in 25 overseas volunteer church planting missions to the Philippines, India, Africa, Korea, Japan, and Wales. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.E. and Esther Blevins of Grants; four grandchildren, Suzanne Morgan, Robert Miller, Rochelle Miller, Baby Airhart; one son-in-law, James Walters; and niece, Evelyn Fjord. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Charlotte of the family home; four loving daughters, Arminda Tibbetts and her husband, Jay Jay, Paula Walters and Elizabeth Miller, all of Los Lunas, Sarah Finch and her husband, Tom of Elko, NV; one brother, Roy Blevins and his wife, Barbara of Grants; three sisters, Ruth McCormack and her husband, John of Santa Rosa, NM; Patricia Spikes and Cecille Gray, both of Lawton, Ok; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Los Lunas at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Mike Sams officiating. Pallbearers will be Jake and Arley Walters, Walter and William Miller, Ross Finch, Jarrett Airhart, Jay Jay Tibbetts, and Tom Finch. Interment will take place Terrace Grove Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Brande -- Greggory Michael Brande (De-Wai Dorjee), 40, a resident of Albuquerque, died suddenly Monday, August 6, 2001. He was born on February 16, 1961. Gregg is the son of Melessia Helberg of Santa Fe and Harvey Gordon Brande. He attended Tatum Elementary School in Tatum, NM, St. Francis Cathedral School and St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe, NM. Gregg graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico in 1991, with a Bachelors in University Studies. He was an artist, a writer, a musician, a masterful marksman and amateur technician. He was a longtime student of Nyingma Tibetan Buddhism. Gregg was preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather, Herbert and Virginia Pior of Tatum. He is survived by his mother, Melessia Helberg and step-father, Don L. Helberg of Santa Fe; his aunt, Alcena Nickell and husband, Ronald Nickell and cousin, Eric Lee Nickell, all of Houston, TX; and many friends, including Carl, Nick, Havanna, Shanna and his auntie, Regina. Gregg lived his life with enthusiasm and a great sense of humor. He had a beautiful spirit, sweet smile and an infectious laugh; and was generous and kind to friends and family. Gregg brought joy and an appreciation of life to his every endeavor. He would always find something for which to be grateful in every situation. We are truly blessed to have known him and to have loved and been loved by him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2001, at 4:00 p.m., at the KSK Buddhist Center, 751 Airport Road, in Santa Fe. Family and friends are invited to attend. Castleman -- J.L. "Bob" Castleman, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Tuesday, August 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dolores Castleman of Albuquerque; children, Gary Castleman and wife, Susie of Ft. Collins, CO, Ronald Castleman and wife, Donna of Durango, CO and Linda Alsup and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Castleman served his country in the US Air Force for 30 years, serving with the 19th Bomb Group & 4925th Test Bomb Group. Gonzales -- Lambert J. Gonzales, USAF Master Sergeant Retired, at the age of 74, passed away on August 7, 2001 in the loving arms of his family. He was born to Seferino Gonzales and Enriquita Casados Gonzales on September 16, 1926 in Clayton, New Mexico, where he was raised and graduated from Clayton High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Navy and served four years in the Pacific Theater. In 1950, he enlisted in the USAF and served twenty years until he retired in 1969. During his time in the USAF, he traveled extensively to different parts of the world. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for National Security Services. Upon his retirement, he was employed with the New Mexico State Employment Service, New Mexico Department of Labor. He served as manager/director for the North Fourth Office, Hendricks Office, Heights Office and the Mountain Road Office until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the original council for the North Valley Senior Citizen Center. He was a member of San Felipe de Neri Church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector and member of the Sacred Heart League and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He loved his God and his country. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lucille; sister, Lillian Anderson; his children, son, Robert and Marianne Gonzales; daughters, Anna and Victor Allee, both of San Diego, Lorraine and John Hobbs of Cambridge, England, Lydia and Xavier Gutierrez of Albuquerque; his adopted daughter, Carmela and Max Castillo of Denver, CO; his four step-children, Greg and Ira Cordova, Michael and Rosemary Cordova, Marc and Peggy Cordova and Robert and Kathy Maldonado; his nephew, Don and Diana Anderson; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, August 10, 2001, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Holland -- Lela Frances Holland, 73, longtime resident of Mountainair, NM passed away on August 6, 2001 in Mountainair. Lela was born on July 25, 1928 in Tioga, TX to Danel and Annie Lee (Hice) Norvell. Lela was very involved with people, to list out a few of her involvements in her life, Lela was a retired school teacher in Mountainair where she taught Business Education, she sponsored classes, cheerleading. She was very active in First Baptist Church Mountainair, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Choir, worked in VBS. Lela was a member of The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, in 1981-1982 she was the first female Mayor of Mountainair, she loved to make crafts, sew, quilt, she had a great passion for bowling, an activity that she enjoyed with her daughters and her grandchildren. Lela will be greatly missed by her family and friends and the community of Mountainair. Lela was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beulah; three brothers, Dudley, Johnny and Ellis Norvell; and her former husband, Joseph Holland. Lela is survived by four daughters, Patricia Holland of Albuquerque, Robin and her husband, Mike Sandler of Albuquerque, JoHelen and her husband, Ken Cason of Magdalena, NM, Betty Ann Holland of Escobosa, NM; two brothers, Cuin Norvell and Sam Houston Norvell; three sisters, Betty Ann Singleton, Molly Neel, Coleen Norvell; ten grandchildren, Shawn, D'Shannon, Holly, Brandy, Tyrel, JoeDon, Dusti, Catlin, Isaac, Richard; and one great-grandchild, Cuin. Holmer -- Pastor Paul Emil Holmer, 84, passed away on August 8, 2001 at Manzano del Sol Care Center. Paul was born and raised in India, the son of Missionaries. He returned to the U.S. to complete college and seminary, he was ordained in the ministry, June 17, 1946 and married Shirley Tull on June 22, 1946 in Chicago. Paul and Shirley then served as missionaries in India for 12 years. Paul Holmer was pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church in New Windosor, IL for 19 years, and Zion Lutheran Church, Galveston TX for five years. After retiring in 1982, Paul was interim Pastor for many churches in the Houston/Galveston area as well as Port Arther, Orange, Freeport, Bay City Texas. He served four years as Hospice Chaplain in Galveston County, and was a volunteer chaplain at (UTMB) University of Texas Medical Branch. Paul and Shirley then moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; and his children, Matthew Holmer, Houston TX, Eileen Mortenson and husband, Dale, Lynn Haven, FL, Jonathan Holmer and wife, Susan, Albuquerque, Grace Holmer, Albuquerque and Nate Holmer, Chicago IL. There are six grandchildren, Jon, Julia, Abby and Noella Holmer, and Immanuel and Luke Mortenson. His sister, Ruth Friberg Minneapolis Minnesota; and brother, Pastor Erik Holmer, Algona Iowa. Malone -- Russell Leonard Malone died July 25, 2001 in Tucson, AZ. He was born May 16, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa to Russell B. and Irene Catherine (Flynn) Malone. He is survived by his former wife, Adeline Malone and his five children, sons, Michael (Sally), Terry (Susan), Kevin (Melia); daughters, Melodie (John) and Dawn (Bobby); his grandchildren, Kristen, Eric (Jessica), Molly, Sunny, Jenna, Renee (Marvin), Will, Kendra, Davin, Tyler, Chelsea, Dylan, Michelle, Bryan, Danielle, Marissa, Bobby, and Mackenzie; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Mariah, Isiah, Jodeci, Payton, Hayden and Alexa. Russ served his country in WWII as a B-17 aerial gunner with the 548th Bombardment Squadron. His gregarious personality made him instant friends wherever he would go. Spradley -- Marjorie Ann Spradley, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Thursday, July 26, 2001. She is survived by her children, Robert Spradley, Patricia Spradley and Susan Neas; and grandchildren, Weslea Neas, Jennelle Spradley, Autumn Neas and Marshall Spradley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilton E. Spradley (Pat). Marjorie was born in Stephensville, TX, January 29, 1921. She graduated from University of Texas in Austin with a business degree. Marjorie married Pat and resided in Albuquerque. Together they owned and operated Acoma Pet Center for 44 years. The highlights of her life were her family and her grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Vallejos 1993. Mr. Vallejos was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
