Benka -- Tinkerbell Freedom Benka, 49, a resident of Albuquerque for 4 years, died Sunday, September 24, 2000 after a long, difficult battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Benka of Albuquerque; son, Jose Luis Caceres of California; mother, Dorothy Martin of Oregon; brothers, Walter Martin, Brad Martin and Matt Martin, all of Oregon; and sister, Tamara Stoynoff of Oregon. Mrs. Benka worked as a Registered Nurse for several years in the U.S., South America and Mexico prior to becoming disabled. She loved mountain climbing, swimming, skiing and riding Harleys. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held Sunday, October 8, 2000, 2:00 p.m. at 717 Camino Espanol NW. Eads -- Hassell Lee Eads, 77 of 1780 White Hill Rd., died Sunday at his home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ephesus Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Morrison and Rev. Roger Thomas. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Eads was born in Surry County, a son of the late Dillard and Effie Atkins Eads. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline E. Nickens and three brothers, Jay W. Eads, Wade Eads, and Lloyd Eads. Mr. Eads is survived by his wife, Mary Della Vestal Eads; two daughters, Nancy E. McLendon of Sanford, and Joyce E. Whisnant of Germantown, TN; one son, Dr. Burc4e W. Eads of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Josephine E. Holland of Sanford, and Fay E. Fields of Hope Mills; two brothers, James Esker Eads and Roger Eads, both of Sanford; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Finn -- Dorothy Virginia (Pullen) Finn, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Wednesday, September 27, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Martha L. Amo and husband, Richard and Elizabeth Jane Womack; also son-in-law, Edward S. Ames, all of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren, John L. Ames of Chicago, IL, Kathryn L. Twaddell of Lafayette, CO, Thomas H. Amo of Aloha, OR, Elizabeth C. Cooney of Roswell, Cynthia S. Prieto of El Paso, TX, Deanna L. Peralta of Albuquerque, Virginia S. Engstrom of San Clemente, CA, Daniel R. Womack of Albuquerque, Susan E. Huttinger of Petaluma, CA and Michael T. Finn of Sacramento, CA; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Finn was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Finn in 1981; and also four children, daughters, Margaret V. Ames and Patsy S. Finch, and sons, Henry J. Finn Jr and James Robert Finn. She was born in Denver, CO on February 17, 1906 to Elizabeth"Bessie" Louise Snouffer and Joseph Henry Pullen. Mrs. Finn worked as a title clerk and retired from Dan Ely Buick Dealership in 1974. She was a member of St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will take place Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE and memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m., at St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 211 Jefferson NE, with Pastor John Holmer officiating. Hinds -- Fredrick C. ¯Fred¯ Hinds passed away on Friday, September 29, 2000. Fred is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vera; son, William Hinds and wife, Pattie, of Albuquerque; daughter, Betty J. Powell and husband, Gene, of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Sheli Hinds, Patrick Hinds, Scott Grosso, Michele Powell and David Powell; sister, Dorothy Wadsworth; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucetta Hinds. Fred was a graduate of Raton High School and a member of the National Honor Society. Mr. Hinds served in the US Army during World War II in the Phillipines. He was the owner and president of Meyer-Hinds Mechanical Contracting Co. of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was twice past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association and was a long time member of the Santa Fe Lions Club. Fred remained very active in the United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels and with the Raton, N.M. Housing Authority. Fred loved the outdoors where he enjoyed gardening, growing roses, fishing, hunting and camping. Services will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Knighton -- H. Carl Knighton, 88, died Friday September 29, 2000. He was a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, and established Knighton¯s Automotive Machine Shop in 1950. He is survived by his wife, Lorna; daughter, Carol McGowen of Mesa, AZ; son, Dale and wife, Linda of Albuquerque; four grandsons, Ronald McGowen,Jr. of Denver, CO, Randal McGowen of Winnebago, MN, Brian Knighton of Albuquerque, and Kevin Knighton of Albuquerque; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Eby of Boca Raton, FL and was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bernice. Mr. Knighton was a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene. Lovato -- Mr. Elizardo "Lalo" Lovato, 75, a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away on September 28, 2000. Mr. Lovato is the loving father of two daughters, Elizaria Lovato and Thelma Marquez and husband, Steve; one brother, Ernesto Jose Rivera and wife, Cecilia; two sisters, Gloria Lopez and husband, Larry and Vangie Turrietta; two grandchildren, Felicia Baca and Tina Marquez; two great-grandchildren, Monique Baca and Joseph Blea. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Gilbert Alarid will recite the Rosary. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with Fr. Ben, officiating. Final Visitation will be after 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mahler -- Alice Mahler, 94, an Albuquerque resident since 1998 died Saturday, September 30, 2000. Mrs. Mahler is survived by her daughter, Joanne Colvin and husband, Marc of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Karen Colvin of Sheboygan, WI; grandson, Lance Colvin of Albuquerque. She was a former long-time resident of Ft. Worth, TX where she was a member of the First Christian Church. Funeral Services and burial will take place in Arlington, TX later this week with Moore & Sons Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis, Arlington, TX in charge of arrangements. Rieden -- Evelyn E. Rieden, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, died Thursday, September 28, 2000. She is survived by her son, Robert F. "Bob" Rieden and wife, Barbara of Tijeras, NM; daughter, Patricia E. Temen and husband, Thomas of Villa Park, IL; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Downey of Albuquerque; and nephew and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Rieden in 1957. Mrs. Rieden was born and raised in Chicago and lived there until 1979 when she moved to Albuquerque. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and also Palo Duro Senior Citizens Center. Services will be held Monday, October 2, 2000, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with The Reverend Harold T. Nilsson officiating. Sather -- Gertrude "Trudy" Wright Sather, 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 29, 2000. She is survived by her niece, Trudy L. McGuire-Smith and husband, Mark; great-great-nephews, Robert E. McGuire and Will R. McGuire-Smith; great-great-nieces, Jennifer L. McGuire and Promise A. McGuire-Smith, all of Belen. Wheeler -- Helen Elizabeth Wheeler, 77, died peacefully in her home on September 27, 2000, after a long dignified struggle with a chronic illness. Helen was born in Folsom, California on April 24, 1923 and became a resident of Albuquerque in 1956. She is survived by her children, son, Michael McNeill and wife, Debbie; daughter, Toni McNeill; grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Chelsea Arbogast, Michael P., Jennifer and Nathan McNeill; great-grandchildren, Ryley and Justice Arbogast; nephews, Mike, Geoff, and Eric Jumper; niece, Mary Ellen; sister-in-law, Anita and their families. Helen's wish that her remains be cremated was honored.
