Billing -- David Dodge Billing, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Wednesday, December 1, 1999. He is survived by his sons, David N. Billing and John E. Billing and wife, Pamela; grandchildren, Christine Kamm, Anne Rubin and John David Billing; and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Nathaniel Kamm and Alex and Zachary Rubin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther E. Billing in 1995. They were married 63 years. Mr. Billing was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving two years in the South Pacific. He retired after 23 years as a Lt. Col. Mr. Billing also worked for ten years with the State of New Mexico Employment Security Commission. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Rev. Dewey Johnson officiating. Brown -- Frank H. Brown, 66, passed away November 30, 1999. He was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, retired from the U.S. Army, and worked as a warehouse manager. He is survived by wife, Ryo Brown; children, Donald Brown and wife, Santana, Charlotte Beyer and husband, Ed, Ralph Brown and Debra Lynn, Shirley Brown; grandchildren, Cynthia, Little Santana, Charlene, Donald Jr.; great-grandchild, Michael; mother, Blanche Brown; sister, Frances Juanita Ferrell; brothers, Charles F. Brown, Ross D. Brown, Charles Marco Brown; other family and friends who will miss him. A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 1999 at Direct Funeral Services. Cooney -- Basil U. Cooney, died on Tuesday, November 30, 1999, following an illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothea; his sons, Winston Cooney and wife, Ann of Sarasota, FL and J. Patrick Cooney of Highland Lakes, NJ; granddaughter, Paige Cooney of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Theda Gibbs of Salina, KS and LaDonna Cummings of Orlando, FL; and by many loving and caring nieces and nephews. Mr. Cooney was proud of his years of service in the Kansas National Guard and WWII as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees. His 42-year career with the J.C. Penny Company earned great respect nationwide. The family is particularly grateful for the loving care of Dr. Richard Guidice and his staff of nurses. Cordova -- Florela Cordova, 60, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and godmother was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 1, 1999. Ms. Cordova was a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, daughter of the late Ernesto and Maria Candelaria. She was a member of the Christ is Lord Church and was a peace maker and spiritual strength for her family as well as a devout Christian lady who was considered the prayer warrior, because she was always praying for family and friends. She was loved by all. Ms. Cordova is survived by her loving children, Adan Sedillo and wife, Theresa of Albuquerque, Mary Juarez and husband, Antonio of Los Lunas, Benny Sandoval and wife, Laura, Charlotte Ramkowsky and husband, Edward, Elaine Cordova and son, Benito Ortega, all of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her Goddaughter, Veronica Candelaria. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and those who knew her. Visitations will be today from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on the corner of 8th and Stover, where Evening Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. tonight. Crossland -- Ella E. Crossland, 87, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 29, 1999. Ella was born January 25, 1912 in Helen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles and Cora Smith Waggle. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church, a volunteer at the Happy Days Christian Day Care and Pre-School. Ella retired from Akron City/Summa Hospital in Akron, Ohio in 1976, she retired from Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque at the age of 82. She then lovingly care for her ailing sister, Florence Danner, several years prior to Florence's death in 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Crossland; and the following brothers and sisters, Katherine Opatich, James, John, Cora Charlene Hodinko, Florence Danner, Charles and William. Ella is survived by a daughter, Karen L. Hall of Suffield, OH; three sons, Ronald W. of Albuquerque, Kent N. of Canal Fulton, OH and Von H. Crossland of Bay Village, OH; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The visitation for Ella will be held in the Chapel of of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, on Thursday, December 2, 1999, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday, December 3, 1999, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service will be on Saturday, December 4, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, with Rev. Dawes -- Phoebe B. Dawes, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999. She is survived by her children, Jack L. Young and wife, Pat of Corrales, Ronald O. Dawes and wife, Marie, Phyllis Warner and husband, John, all of Albuquerque, Larry Dawes of T or C, NM, and Shirley McNeal of Albuquerque; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dawes was born in Jewel City, KS. She came to Albuquerque from Lawrence, KS in 1938. She was a member of Harwood United Methodist Church since 1946. Deloach -- Josephine Palmisano DeLoach, age 90, of Austin, died Wednesday, December 1, 1999. Mrs. DeLoach was born April 14, 1909 in West Point, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. (Buddy) DeLoach Jr. of Lanett, AL; parents, Antonio and Agata Palmisano of West Point, GA, and Lanett, AL; brother and sisters-in-law, Leon and Hattie Knowles Palmisano of Griffin, GA; brother, Joe Palmisano of Albuquerque; sister and brother-in-law, Leboria Palmisano and Thomas di Lorenzo of Long Island, NY; and sister-in-law, Sadie DeLoach Bowers of Lanett, AL. Survivors include her daughter, Jo Anne D. Tucker and husband, Ronald of Austin; granddaughter, Deborah D. Tucker of Austin; grandson, Michael J. Everett -- Tom Everett, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died Thursday, December 2, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Mercedes Everett of Albuquerque; brother, Ken Everett of Denver, CO; sister, Allene Butler of Olympia, WA; son, Jerry Everett and wife, Nancy of Kansas City, MO; step-son, Dan Jackson of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Everett retired in 1978 from A.T.&S.F. Railroad, where he worked as an engineer, conductor and fireman for many years. He was 32nd Degree Mason. Kristensen -- Mary Jean Kirstensen (Jean), 77, a 53 year resident of Albuquerque and Tijeras, passed away at Sunbridge Mission Manor on November 30, 1999. Mrs. Kirstensen was born on January 19, 1922 in Grady, New Mexico. Her parents were Reid and Dena (Crecelius) Isler. They were early settlers in Eastern New Mexico. She graduated from Grady High School in 1938 and later attended Eastern New Mexico University at Portales, NM. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Eugene (Kris) Kristensen of Tijeras; brothers, Roy D. Isler and wife, Leona of Roswell and Francis H. Isler and wife, Shera of Tucumcari; brother-in-law, Donald Kirstensen and wife, Mary Lou of Minden, NE. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. Her parents; and a brother, James Isler, preceded Mrs. Kristensen in death. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 3, 1999, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Rev. Lucero -- Eddie Lucero"Eddie Haskell", a resident of Bernalillo, NM, passed away. Marquez -- David Alfonzo Marquez, born February 10, 1957, fell asleep in death on December 1, 1999. He faithfully served until his death as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and served in the Albuquerque Fire Dept. from 1983-1999. Marquez -- Mr. Laurio Marquez, 65, a resident of Seboyeta, NM passed away on December 1, 1999. Mr. Marquez is survived by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Ercina; one son, Reyes Marquez and wife Bernadette; three daughters, Bernice Garcia, Norma Jean Marquez and Martha Chavez and husband, Phillip; two grandsons, Matthew Chavez and Justin Marquez; four granddaughters, Amanda Anzures, Raelina Marquez, Elizabeth Marquez and Kristina Chavez. Mr. Marquez was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be Friday in the Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Seboyeta, NM from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon William P. Beaton. Final visitation will be in the Church, Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Antonio Trujillo. Martinez -- Aurora Martinez, a resident of Valencia, passed away on December 1, 1999. Aurora retired from the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School. She was a member of the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church. She also worked with the Foster Grandparents until 1992. Aurora's greatest pleasure was cooking and having her family over for Sunday morning breakfasts. Her greatest pride was her family and grandchildren. Aurora was known to her children as"Grandma Tinez". She was preceded in death by her husband, Eufracio Martinez; one son, Charlie Martinez; and three grandchildren, Julie Sandoval, Danny Marquez and Nadine Martinez. Aurora is survived by her children, Silverio Martinez of Ashdown, AR, Mary Lou and her husband, Fermin Chavez of Espanola, Mayme and her husband, Luz Gonzales of Hobbs, Dolores Marquez and her husband, Frank, Geraldine Martinez and her husband, Nat of Los Lunas; Rafaelita"Fela" Martinez; daughter-in-law, Hazel Martinez of Pontiac, MI; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Mckearin -- Donna E. McKearin, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, died Monday, November 29, 1999 in Phoenix, AZ. She was the beloved mother of Sandra L. Neel of Albuquerque; devoted grandmother of Laureen Niamesny and Imre John Neel; devoted great-grandfather of John Neel; and loving sister of Theda Warner and Gloria Berry. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. McKearin in 1990. Mrs. McKearin was a devoted member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Albuquerque, where she served as Assistant Librarian for the Christian Science Reading Room. Murray -- Patricia W. Murray, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 1999. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert S. Murray, in September, 1985. Mrs. Murray was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1945 and a lifetime member of Jazzercise. She leaves her children, Patti Ball of Austin, TX, Alan Murray of Albuquerque, John Murray and wife, Dr. Elizabeth La Roche of Murfreesboro, TN, and Robert Murray Jr. and wife, Pat of Santa Fe; nine grandchildren, Cathi, James, Kathryn, Lara, Elliott, Rob, Rick, David, and Jennifer; and seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kevin, Alisa, Dalton, Tyson, Dustin, and Michelle. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed by her family and many dear friends. Overton -- Lewis M. Overton, Physician, beloved husband of Helen Thomas Overton, father to Nancy Covalt, Lewis Overton Jr. and Mary Pashyo, passed away peacefully at Lovelace Medical System Hospital, where he worked for much of his career and to which he had devoted so much of his energy and emotion. He was 96 years old. A resident of Albuquerque since 1947, Dr. Overton practiced orthopedic surgery, as well as teaching at the University of New Mexico Medical School, which he helped to found in 1960. He retired from active practice in 1974. Dr. Overton was a distinguished contributor to the growth of Orthopedic Medicine in the State of New Mexico. From his arrival in Albuquerque until 1968, he served as Head of Orthopedic Surgery at the Lovelace Foundation. During this period, he also served as President of Medical Staff at the Bataan Memorial Hospital. In addition, he served as staff member and consultant to numerous private and government hospitals around the state. During this period, he was elected President of the New Mexico State Medical Society. He was a founder and acted as President of the Southwestern Surgical Congress and Chairman, Committee on Applicants for New Mexico, American College of Surgeons. He regularly served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the United States Veteran's Hospital. His community activities included the founding with other, the New Mexico Rehabilitation Center. He also founded and acted as medical director for outpatient clinics for those suffering from incapacitating diseases. From 1956 to 1981, he was affiliated with the Carrie Tingley Hospital for Crippled Children in Truth or Consequences. He served as Medical Director, 1980-1981, during which time he oversaw the hospital's move to Albuquerque. In recognition of his service, he received the Albuquerque Jr. Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Community Service Award in 1956. He was honored with distinguished service awards from the Southwestern Surgical Congress, the New Mexico Orthopedic Society and Carrie Tingley Hospital. Born and raised in Rocky Mount, NC, he received his BS in Chemistry from Duke University and his MD from the University of Maryland. He also served at the Mayo Foundation, where he received his MS in Orthopedic Surgery from the University of Minnesota. The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery certified him in orthopedic surgery. Prior to coming to the Lovelace Foundation, he practiced medicine in Des Moines, IA for ten years. He served in World War II as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Medical Corps. in both the U.S. and Pacific Theater. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Albuquerque Country Club. Dr. Overton is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Nancy Covalt, Lewis Overton Jr. and Mary Pashyo; brother, Dolphin Overton of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Cale Carson III, David Carson, Jane Carson, Mary Carson Matteucci, Thomas Overton, Anne Overton, Cyrena Schroeder and Rasita Schroeder; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service in celebration of his life and resurrection will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, with Rev. Paul Davenport officiating. Paisano -- Francis Paisano Jr., 55, a resident of Albuquerque for 5 years, died Monday, November 29, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Lena Paisano of Albuquerque; sons, Francis Paisano III and wife, Jennifer and Orlando Paisano, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Felicia Renee Paisano of Albuquerque; brother, Michael Paisano of Pierre, SD; sisters, Carol Kellywood and husband, Tommy of Farmington and Mary Paisano of Albuquerque; and granddaughter, Ashley R. Claw-Paisano of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and their families. Mr. Paisano was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Franz Paisano. He served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborn Division. Mr. Paisano enjoyed mountain climbing, cooking and outdoor activities. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 3, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Seama, NM. Interment will follow at Seama Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Francis Paisano III, Orlando Paisano, Michael Paisano, Myles Paisano, Andy Kellywood and Kenny Kellywood. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.

Sais -- Mrs. Vivian I. Sais, 78, a resident of Reno, NV and former resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on November 29, 1999. Mrs. Sais is survived by three daughters, Consuelo Hannan, Cecilia Mowery and husband, Michael and Olivia Beas; five grandchildren, Michael Hannan, Timothy Hannan, Gigi Sweglar, Chevy Sweglar and Flavio Beas; one great-grandson, Joseph Hannan; several nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. Mrs. Sais was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Rosendo Sais. Mrs. Sais was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Rick Zerwas. Interment will follow in the Los Lentes Cemetery. Stone -- Jean Elizabeth Stone, 28, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past two years, and before that of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 30, 1999. Jean was born May 16, 1971 in Flagstaff, Arizona the daughter of Richard L. and Ruth Bishop Walker. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Rio Rancho, sang in the choir, enjoyed working with children, participated in special events and activities with children at the church and at school, she volunteered at the school library. Jean played the flute, dulcimer, piano, and guitar and loved to write poetry. Jean is survived by her husband, Scott J. Stone; children, James and Taylor of Rio Rancho; two sisters, Brenda Irvin of Las Vegas, NV and Pamela Brewer of Holand, OH; father, Dick of Cedar Falls, IA; Scott's parents, Scott and Carrie Stone of Lakeside, AZ; grandmother, Vonny Bishop of West Union, IA; sister-in-law, Amy Brown and husband, Michael of Belen, NM. A Memorial Service will be held for Jean on Saturday, December 4, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with The Rev. Harry Chapman officiating. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.

Thompson -- Bob J. Thompson, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Wednesday, December 1, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bette Thompson; daughters, Jodi Stawicki, Janet Thompson, all of Albuquerque and Barbara Cordova and husband, Gene of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Chris Baum, Ian Cordova, Stefanie Stawicki and Malori Cordova; brother, Jim Thompson and wife, Alice of Albuquerque; and sister, Shirlene Fitzgibbon and husband, Bob of Edgewood. Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Local Pipefitters Union #412. Mr. Thompson enjoyed building and woodworking, and was an avid hunter. He loved his grandchildren very much. Services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Dan Thompson and Dennis DuBois officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Chris Baum, Ian Cordova, Dennis DuBois, Dan Thompson, Tom DuBois and Russell McDuffic. Tippy -- Dorothy Nell Tippy, 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 24, 1999. She is survived by her nephew, Rex Borchardt and wife, Kathy of Monticello, AR; close friends, Mack Hicks of San Francisco, CA and Robin Morgan of Albuquerque; and many others who will deeply miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall W. Tippy, a longtime employee of Sandia, in 1993; and her son, Alan C. Tippy in 1994. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Wheeless -- Jesse Wheeless, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died Wednesday, December 1, 1999. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Deltha B. Wheeless of Albuquerque; daughter, Judith M. Hill and husband, Tony of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Lillian Turonis and husband, Hank of Colorado; brothers, Charless Wheeless and wife, Virginia of Albuquerque and Gussie Wheeless and wife, Evelyn of Santa Fe; stepsister, Jeanine Schmidt of Santa Fe; and many close friends and neighbors. Mr. Wheeless retired in 1957 after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission in Los Alamos until 1981. Graveside services will be held Monday, 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 2:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. and family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
