Baca -- Marian Ware Baca, 76, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 1999. Visitations will be Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE in Albuquerque with Fr. Barbee -- Mrs. June Carmen Barbee died July 28, 1999. Mrs. Barbee was born on June 26, 1914 in Canadian, Texas. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1958. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Billie M. Barbee; a son, Norman Carlson; and her parents, Andrew and Edith Ackers. She is survived by one step-son, Robert D. Barbee of Anchorage, AK; by three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Mansur of Albuquerque and Bonnie Robins of Kalamazoo, MI. She was a former resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado (1928-1958), and she served in the United States Navy from February 1944 to February 1946 when she received an Honorable discharge. She served as a Red Cross Volunteer for 18 years and was a member of the following organizations: Beta Sigma Phi, Daughters of the Nile, Honored Ladies Ballut Abyad Temple of the Shrine, Kirtland AFB Officers' Wives Club, Retired Officers' Wives Club (former President). A Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday conducted by Pastor William H. Shoats and Mr. Harley Templeton. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to be made to Shriners Crippled Children Travel Fund, P.O. Box 8410, Albuquerque, NM 87198. Breeden -- Otis Breeden, 66, a resident of Lemitar, NM and a former resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, July 29, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; two sons, Steve and Ron; two daughters, Loretta Lopez and husband, Gilbert and Peggy Martin and husband, Tom; father, Ralph"Popie" Breeden; brother, Everette; three granddaughters, Christy, Antonia and Alicia; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn; and many other relatives and friends. He was an auto electrician for many years and retired from Breeden's Auto Electric in 1989. Mr. Breeden spent his retirement years caring for his family. He was a very loving man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Graveside services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Collier -- Ruthe M. Collier, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died peacefully Wednesday, July 28, 1999. She is survived by her beloved family, son, William P. Collier and wife, Melanie; daughter, Tracy S. Herrera and husband, Sam; and the joys and sunshine of her life, her grandchildren, Daniel Michael Herrera, Catherine Beth (Casey) Collier, and David William Herrera. Ruthe was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the local Emmaus Community. She played semi professional softball and later coached numerous baseball and softball teams. Ruthe was a local business owner, a member of the Women Entrepreneurs, and was active in our community. Services will be held Sunday, August 1, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield and Dr. E. Leonard Gillingham officiating. Private disposition will follow the service. Cruz -- Gertrude Andrea Cruz, mother, grandmother, and beloved wife, left us for a better world Wednesday, July 28, 1999, following a short illness. Born in Roy, NM to parents, Eusebio and Isabel Maestas on May 4, 1932, she was a youthful 67 year old. Mrs. Cruz passed away surrounded by loving friends and family. She is survived by her husband, John R. Cruz Sr. of the family home; son, Delfin Elmer Medina and wife, Yolanda of Rio Rancho; son, William Joseph Medina and wife, Kelley of Los Lunas; daughter, Shirley Irene Gallegos and husband, Jimmy of Los Lunas; son, John R. Cruz Jr. and wife, Kristal of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Leroy, Esperanza, Raven, Mario, Priscilla, Maria, Jordan, Nicole, Isaiah, Tyler and Samuel; her mother, Isabel Maestas of Roy, NM; brothers, Frank Maestas and wife, Caroline of Roy, NM and Joe Maestas and wife, Rosanne of Avondale, CO; several sisters, Margaret Baca and husband, Charlie of Pueblo, CO, Priscilla Le Roux of Pueblo, CO, Martha Ebell and husband, Andres of Roy, NM, Tillie Cruz and husband, Pat of Albuquerque, and Mary Tapia and husband, Zeke of Taos; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention. Dowd -- Dorothy Deland Dowd, 94, a resident of Albuquerque for 41 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Edsel Overall of the family home in Albuquerque; and two granddaughters, Theresa Overall of Dallas, TX and Karen Overall of Fairfax, VA. Mrs. Dowd was the widow of Col. Cecil J. Dowd (USAF Ret.), who passed away in February of 1988 after 58 years of marriage. The Dowds retired to Albuquerque in 1958 after his career in the military took them to live in many states and in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Mrs. Dowd was born October 18, 1904 in Washington, DC, the fourth generation in her family to grow up in the nation's capital. She graduated from Central High School and the Washington School for Secretaries, both in Washington. After moving to Albuquerque she held several Civil Service positions for the Air Force at Kirtland AFB until her retirement. Mrs. Dowd was an active participant in civic affairs over the ensuing years, having served on the boards of Albuquerque Civic Light Opera Association Amigos, Friends of the Little Theater, New Mexico Symphony Women's Guild, Opera Southwest, and Albuquerque Auxiliary of the Santa Fe Opera. She was also very active in the Kirtland Officers Wives Club and the Retired Officers Wives Club. Mrs. Dowd was a member of the Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Risen Savior on Monday, August 2 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 12:00 noon. Hedges -- Our beloved mother, Mildred Lenora Hedges, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 1999. Mourning her, remembering her, and very thankful for her are her daughters, Molly McCallum and Nancy Ryckman, both of Albuquerque; her husband of 57 years, John Hedges of Albuquerque; her precious grandchildren, Tara and Joseph Noonan; and first expected great-grandchild, all of Moscow, Russia, Jesse Rios-McCollum, Brian, Molly and Abby Ryckman; her sister, Ruby Hall of Clayton, CA; brother, Marlin Brown and wife, LaVon of Sioux Falls, SD; beloved"Kitsy" of the family home; and countless friends who will all miss her. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Brown. Mildred was born on December 10, 1913, to Martin and Molina Brown in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls. Mildred taught school for seven years in the towns of Clark and Howard, SD. Moving to Seattle, Milly worked as an accountant. She married John Hedges on October 10, 1942. After WWII, John and Milly lived in many states. As a Corps Engineers' wife, Mildred often made the best of difficult situations. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. In August 1966, the family moved to Albuquerque. Mildred loved Albuquerque. She was a devoted member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Milly was also an excellent seamstress, an avid bridge player, and an accomplished pianist. Most of all, she was known for her kindness, her wonderful sense of humor, her compassion and willingness to always help."Don't grieve nor be afraid my loved ones. I am always with you. I am in the air you breathe, the soft winds that blow, the rain you hear and the sun upon your face. I am only away and waiting until we are reunited in God's kingdom. I am in your hearts forever." Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd. NE, with The Rev. David E. Cruson and Pastor Aaron Couch officiating. Hippe -- Nell Louise Clayton Hippe passed away peacefully at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque on July 25, 1999. She was born on September 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Murphy and Effie Clayton of Bogahusa, Louisiana. Nell was a 1940 graduate of Bogalusa High School and went on to train as a nurse at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. She began her nursing career in Littlefield, Texas, spending her free time on a ranch in Fort Summer, New Mexico. She went on to Cooke County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois for further training as a nurse anesthetist before serving for nine months in the Navy during World War II. Nell was stationed in San Diego where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Ken Hippe (after only 3 dates) in July, 1945. Nell is survived by her husband, Kenneth; their four daughters and their spouses, Jane and Russ Reilly of Middlebury, VT, Barbara and Keith Mansfield and of Bosque Farms, Patti and Randy White of Albuquerque and Pamela and Paul Hendershott of Boulder, CO; and her ten grandchildren, Jennifer, Jody and Lindsay Reilly, Morgan, Lillie and Clayton Mansfield, Kate and Justin White and Melissa and Brad Hendershott. Nell is also survived by a sister, June Clayton of Franklinton, Louisiana. She was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Foil; and brother, Murphy Jay Clayton. Ken was a pilot for TWA for 32 years and during that time they lived in Kansas City, Kansas, Levittown, NY, Huntington, NY and Fairfield, CT. They retired to Albuquerque in 1978. Nell was active in the Cosmopolitan Club and was a devoted volunteer at various hospitals in the communities in which they lived. Those friends wishing to celebrate Nell's life may join the family at a memorial service to be held Saturday, July 31, 10:00 a.m., at All Saint's Lutheran Church, at Paseo del Norte on Coors. Hunick -- Justo Henry"Jr." Hunick, 43, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rosann Hunick; daughter, Melanie Hunick and boyfriend, Robert Thompson; son, Eric Justo Hunick and girlfriend, Andrea Dennison; mother, Beulah Chavez and husband, Joe; sister, Rosie Tafoya; brothers-in-law, Michael Montoya and David Velasquez and wife, Melannie; niece, Irene Maestas and her daughter, Samantha; niece and Goddaughter, Yolanda Maestas; nephew, Raymond Maestas and fiancee, Olivia, all of Albuquerque; several other relatives; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Lynn Hunick; and father, Justo Saiz Hunick. Mr. Hunick was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was also a member of Pipefitters Local #412. Mr. Hunick volunteered with North Valley Little League, serving as Vice President and coach. Jablon -- Stanley H. Jablon, 70, a former resident of Albuquerque, died July 21, 1999 in Green Acres, FL. Lane -- Rebecca Ann Lane, 63, and born September 23, 1935 in Trinidad, CO, entered into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on July 28, 1999 after battling a four week illness at UNM Hospital. She was a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Robert E. Lane; two daughters, Vicki L. McClelland and husband, John L. of Phoenix, AZ and Traci L. Sanchez and husband, Kraig A. of Albuquerque; and son, Alan D. Hixon of Albuquerque. She is also survived by three beautiful grandchildren, Erica K. McClelland, Noah A. and Jenna Mari Sanchez, who will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garner D. and Mabel L. Rucker. Becky will be remembered for her huge, unselfish heart and her great love for animals. She prided herself in being a loving wife, mother and grandmother (Nana). Services will be at 10:30 a.m. this morning at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, followed by inurnment at Fairview Cemetery. Lujan -- Rita Gilbert Lujan, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque on Thursday, July 29, 1999, of congestive heart failure. She was born in Belen, NM on July 10, 1917, the daughter of Antonio Gilbert and Ramona Chavez Gilbert. She married Ernest J. Lujan on June 3, 1939. Her husband preceded her in death on October 10, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Horacio Gilbert and Arthur Gilbert; and her sister, Helen Gilbert Chavez. She is survived by her children, Ernest G. Lujan and wife, Stella, Juliette Duran and husband, Leroy, and Robert Lujan and wife, Sandy; grandchildren, Elicia Lujan, Luke Lujan, Rita Duran, Wendy Torri (her"adopted granddaughter"), Phil Duran and wife, Gay, Denise Duran, Steve Duran, Helen Korfe and husband, Mike, Darrell James and wife, Kathy; and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Samantha Korfe and Carissa and Cody James. She is also survived by her brother, Alfred Gilbert; and sisters-in-law, Dolores Gilbert and Lourdes Lujan. The family wishes to thank her caretakers, Jane Walker, Olivia Schmitz, Anna Schmitz and Benigna Cerrillos for their loving care during the last three months of her life, and Sandia Hospice for the comfort they provided, especially Marge George, R.N. and Michael Bivins, R.N. Nieto -- The Angels grew lonely and called Nick Alfred Santiago Nieto, infant, so that he may be cradled in the Lords arms. Nick was born on April 8, 1999 in Albuquerque. He leaves behind with a broken heart his loving parents, Nicolas and Sandra Nieto; five sisters, Chasity, Cherise, Chantel, Nicole and Natalie Nieto, all of the family home. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Crites of Albuquerque; son, Bill Savage of Simi Valley, CA; one sister, Mary M. Evans; three brothers, Phil, John, and Jack Savage. Cremation has taken place in Douglas, AZ. No services are to be held.

Toledo -- Rafelita T. Toledo, our beloved mother, has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 28, 1999, whom she served most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Toledo and Juanita; and her husband, Joe I. Toledo. She is survived by her five sons, Charles R. Toledo and wife, Ellie of Hawthorne, CA, James N. Toledo and wife, Jo Ann of Littlerock, CA, Lawrence D. Toledo of Jemez Pueblo, NM, Alfred T. Toledo and wife, Percilla of Jemez Pueblo, NM, and Joseph I. Toledo and wife, Lydia; seven daughters, Luanna Mangold and husband, Werner of Prescott, AZ, Rhoda D. Toledo of Cathedral City, CA, Marion P. Castillo and husband, Paul of Jemez Pueblo, NM, Letha Ramirez of Cathedral City, CA, Ruth J. Gorman and husband, Dennis of Las Vegas, NV, Josephine N. Porter of San Bernadino, CA, and Charlene R. Gomez of Jemez Pueblo, NM; five brothers, Lawrence Ballo, Freddie Ballo, David Ballo, Mickey Ballo, and Max John Ballo; two sisters, Lenora Fragua and Lenora Toledo; one sister-in-law, Andrea Fragua; 34 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Rafelita had an interest in pottery, she had a rock collection, enjoyed baking bread, gardening, cooking and singing. She was a member of the San Ysidro Assembly of God. Rafelita will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be today, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Services will be conducted today, 5:00 p.m., at the Jemez Valley Baptist Church. Interment to follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Toledo, Steve Castillo, Curtis Toledo, Chuck Toledo"Ephraim", Darrick Compito and Alfred Toledo. Honorary pallbearers will be John Toledo, Joseph K. Torres -- Funeral services for Mr. Salome C. Torres will be held on Saturday at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, where Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will take place following the Funeral Mass. A Memorial Mass and burial of the cremains will take place in Chilili, NM, time and place will be announced at a later time. Arrangements by the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 3rd St. SW.
