Aranda -- Andrew R. Aranda, born July 16, 1947, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 1998 with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Frances Aranda; and his loving daughters, Denise Johnson and husband, Allan, Jeannette Aranda, Andrea Aranda and Angela Aranda; his grandchildren, Samantha Armijo and Andie Johnson; his brother, Raymond Aranda and wife, Dolores, and Johnny Walker; his sisters, Theresa Sanches, Diana Clark, and Vickiy Aranda. Mass will be held for him on Friday, August 21, 1998, 9:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Church. His burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Bishop -- Bessie O. Bishop passed away on August 19, 1998, after a courageous battle with several illnesses. She was born in Emmett, Arkansas on September 28, 1914 and was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, having retired from Pioneer Wear, Inc. in the mid 1980s. Bess was predeceased by her son, Bobby Bishop, but is survived by her grandchildren, Tena Bishop, Ed Bishop, Jo Bishop, and Brian Brock, all of Albuquerque, Pamela Ristine of Escondido, CA and Bret Brock of Rosanky, TX. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 21, 10:00 a.m., at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. She will be missed and always loved. Burial arrangements by Direct Services, 4501 4th NW, 343-8008.

Dillon -- Richard"Dick" T. Dillon, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, August 16, 1998. He is survived by his children, Laura Vogel of Littleton, CO, Tom Dillon of Pittsburgh, PA, Eric Dillon of Socorro, and Nanci Modolo of West Hollywood, CA; sister, Kathleen Dillon of Eugene, OR; and ten grandchildren. He was the widower of Dorothy Dillon who preceded him in death in 1988. Mr. Dillon earned a PhD in Mathematics at Oregon State University. He came to Sandia National Labs in 1958, working there for 25 years. Mr. Dillon was a pilot and former wing commander of the Civil Air Patrol. He was also past president of A.C.M. and a member of Tri-ess. Mr. Dillon was a member of the First Congregational Church. Services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the First Congregational Church, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Stephen S. Halsted officiating. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Hammar -- H. Gordon Hammar, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, died on Wednesday, August 19, 1998 from complications of renal failure and liver cancer. He was born in Pawtucket, RI on Monday, June 6, 1921 to Walter and Hazel Hammar. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Hammar of the family home; sons, Kevin Hammar and wife, Kathy, and Dennis Hammar; grandchildren, Joseph Brandt-Hammar and Elyse Brandt, and Christian A. and Caitlin S. Landskroener, and their mother, Nancy Landskroener, all of Albuquerque; mother, Hazel M. Hammar; sister, Arlene Weyrick both of Miami, FL. Mr. Hammar moved to Youngstown, OH as a young child. In 1940, before Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps as a private, and started a love affair with the Air Force. He had two tours of duty to Germany and one to Iceland. He met his wife, Shirley, an Army Nurse Corp Lt. while they were with the US Army during occupation in Germany in 1946. He taught many young Air Force mechanics the fine art of air craft maintenance. After his discharge from the Air Force as a Lt. Col, he was the owner and operator of Eddy/Hammar Hardware in Albuquerque until his death. He was an avid stamp collector and a lover of the Keeshound Breed of dogs. He was active in the Air Force Association, NM Philatelic Society, Reserve Officers' Association, the Retired Officers' Association, and the Albuquerque Humane Association. Services will be held Monday, August 27, 1998, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Heilman -- Luther James Heilman of Albuquerque, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 17, 1998. He died peacefully at home with his family. Luther was born in Helena, Montana on November 3, 1916, the son of the Rev. Oscar and Ethel Heilman. He was raised in Hastings, Nebraska and Concordia, Missouri, where his father was a Lutheran minister. Before entering college, he spent almost four years caring for his disabled grandfather in Oxford, Nebraska. He received his degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri. In Concordia, he met and married Ruth Bergmann, his beloved wife of 55 years. Luther served in the U.S. army during and after World War II, was transferred to Albuquerque in 1946 and worked on the Armed Forces Special Weapon Project at Sandia Base. Upon his discharge from the military in 1948, he was employed at Sandia National Laboratory from which he retired in 1983 as Director of Quality Assurance. He served his community in many ways. He was elected to the Albuquerque City Commission in 1962, serving a four-year term, part of the time as the Vice-Chairman. He was on the board of New Mexico Blue Cross/Blue Shield for many years, up until his death, serving as chairman for some time. He also served as a member of Rocky Mountain Health Care Corporation for a number of years. He was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Albuquerque and among other capacities served as president of the congregation. He was known and loved as a Bible class teacher. Luther is survived by his wife, Ruth; and by sons, James Heilman and wife, Judy of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Stephen Heilman and wife, Aferdita of Austin, TX; and daughters, Carol and husband, Rev. Dave Hartenberger of Albuquerque, NM, and Susan and husband, Byron Gardner of Albuquerque, NM. His cherished grandchildren are: Erich, Jessica and Joel Hartenberger, Lindsey and Erin Gardner, and Kron and Lorik Heilman. He is also survived by sisters Irene Reith and Lois Heilman of Concordia, MO, Eunice Pedersen of Ashland, OR; and brothers Rev. Mark Heilman of Paoli, PA, and Richard Heilman of Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by brother Rev. Carl Heilman; and sister Martha Leedy. A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado SE, Saturday, August 22, 1998 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. John Heffelfinger officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Habitat for Humanity. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Jenkinson -- Lt. Col. Ernest A. Jenkinson, U.S. Army (Ret.), 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 25 years, died Wednesday, August 19, 199. He is survived by his sons, Ernest A. Jenkinson of Arlington, VA, Donald Jenkinson of Cedar Crest, Douglas Jenkinson of Memphis, NY, Earle Jenkinson of Burke, VA, Eric Jenkinson of Martinez, CA, and Frank Jenkinson of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Glover Jenkinson on July 23, 1997; and his sister, Eileen Slaughter in 1998. Mr. Jenkinson was born in Sioux City, IA on March 10, 1918. He received his MBA from Harvard University. Mr. Jenkinson was a former director of B.R.A.V.O. at Kirtland Air Force Base, a former director of Operations Analysis U.S.D.A., and also was the Chief Operations Analyst for S.H.A.P.E. (N.A.T.O.). Martinez -- Sandiago (Jimmy) Eloy Martinez passed away Sunday, August 16, 1998 at age 50. He was born March 6, 1948 in Santa Rosa, NM and was a longtime resident of Albuquerque. Sandiago was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Martinez and Joe Martinez; mother, Juanita Martinez; and father, Joe P. Martinez. He is survived by his son, James Eloy Martinez of Albuquerque; daughter, Natalie Nicole Berry of Irving, TX; six grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria Cordova and husband, Tito, Marie June Martinez and husband, Lee, Elizabeth Montoya and fiance, Robert Aragon; and five brothers, Joe Eddie Martinez and wife, Bell, Jessie Martinez and wife, Betty, Bobby Martinez and wife, Orphie, Larry Martinez and wife, Lori, Pete Martinez and friend, Jo; also many nieces and nephews. Padilla -- Baby Moriah A. Padilla, one month old infant daughter of Shasha Padilla-Wrenn and husband, David and father Stephen Spicer, passed away on August 19, 1998 and is now one of God's little Angels in Heaven. Moriah is also survived by one sister, Daesha Wrenn; and two brothers, David Wrenn IV and Joshua DeVonn Spicer; maternal grandmother, Grace Padilla-Ceballos and husband, Roy and Joe Jarvies; maternal great-grandmother, Susanna Padilla; paternal grandparents, Geneva Coleman and Ellias Greathouse; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Linda Mae Spicer; and great-grandfather, Julian Padilla Sr. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd S.W. with visitation after 10:00. Parker -- Dr. Carlisle K. Parker, 94, died peacefully on August 19, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Louise; sons, Carl Parker and wife, Kay of Toledo, OH and Bruce Parker and wife, Janet of Albuquerque; grandsons, David and wife, Judith of Dallas, Andrew and wife, Kathleen of Denver, Jeffrey and wife, Elaine of Albuquerque, Michael and wife, Christine of Cincinnati and Thomas and wife, Lynn of Denver; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nancy in 1986. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 29, 1904 to Myrtle and Harry Parker. On December 31, 1928 he married in South Bend, IN to Louise M. Whiteman. Upon retirement they moved to Albuquerque and were currently residing at the Montebello. He was raised in South Bend, IN and after two years at the University of Norte Dame he attended the Chicago College of Osteopathy, graduating in 1928. He was in general practice in South Bend for 50 years, serving his patients with skill, honesty and compassion. Dr. Parker worked with the youth of South Bend at the YMCA and in the public schools during sports physicals. He belonged to the South Bend Knife and Fork clubs. In 1978 he and his wife moved to Albuquerque. For many he was active in the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque. Pettit -- William P. Pettit, 68, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1952, died on Tuesday, August 18, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pettit of the family home; sons, Jeff Pettit of Albuquerque, Joe Pettit of Boulder, CO and Gene Pettit and wife, Cynthia of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, and Justin; sister, Elizabeth O'Connell and husband, Lawrence of Albuquerque; brothers, Raymond Pettit and wife, Carol of Albuquerque and Joseph Pettit and wife, Phyllis of Edina, MO; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Peck; and his parents, Paul D. and Mildred Pettit. Mr. Pettit was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a prominent New Mexico land surveyor and was owner and operator of William Pettit & Associates Land Surveying until his retirement. He enjoyed the great outdoors which is reflected in his beautiful home in the East mountains. Mr. Pettit was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Price -- Betty Ann Price, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, died in her sleep on Monday, August 17, 1998, at the family home. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Joseph V. Price of Albuquerque; daughters, Elisabeth J. Price of Albuquerque, Pamela A. Price of Houston, TX, Michelle Winthers and husband, Ake of Gothenberg, Sweden, and Susan T. Price of Albuquerque; son, James E. Price and wife, Jill Anne Yeagley of Albuquerque; grandsons, M. Daniel Bernhardt of Falkenberg, Sweden, Jeremy M. Price of Albuquerque, and Joseph C. Winthers of Gothenberg, Sweden; granddaughters, Jennifer M. Winthers and Sarah S. Winthers, both of Gothenberg, Sweden; and brother-in-law, Herbert H. Price of Mexico City. She is also survived by her honorary children, K. Michael Bernhardt of Falkenberg, Sweden, Anita Del Valle and Ken and Edie Wilkins, all of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death, earlier this year, by her cherished eldest grandchild, Philippa Ann Price. Mrs. Price was born in Baton Rouge, LA to Ernest W. and Annie Robeau and was their only child. While her family and many, many friends are keenly bereft without Betty's charm, dignity, grace, and natural"je ne sais quoi", all feel very blessed indeed to have been part of her life. Rodarte -- Walter E., 50, passed away August 11, 1998 in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Anthony; father, Ignacio Sr.; mother, Fedelina; brother Ignacio Jr. He is survived by his wife Alma of Houston; daughter Karla of Oklahoma; brothers, John and Joe Rodarte of Albuquerque; sisters, Yolanda Sierra and Ramona Rodarte of Albuquerque. Visitation was on Friday, August 14, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. in Houston. Military services were conducted Saturday, August 15, 198 at 2:00 p.m. also in Houston. Sanchez -- James L. Sanchez, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Wednesday, August 19, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Agnes Sanchez of Albuquerque; daughter, Sara Lisa Sanchez of Albuquerque; son, Leo M. Garcia-Sanchez of Albuquerque; step-children, Estevan B. Spicher -- Susie D. Spicher, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Thursday, August 19, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Oscar Spicher, whom she married on January 26, 1938; son, Charles Russell Spicher and wife, Mary of Albuquerque; and daughter, Brenda Susan Risenhoover and husband, Roger of Wynnewood, OK. She was the grandmother of Amy Risenhoover of Ft. Worth, TX, Carrie Cleaver and husband, Daniel of Tulsa, OK, Kimberly Spicher of Little Rock, AR, and Ian Spicher of Albuquerque. Mrs. Spicher was born on October 15, 1911 to Daniel Webster and Josie Cole Dupree of Coushatta, LA. She graduated from nursing school at Louisiana State Sanitorium in 1935. Wheelock -- Patricia A. Wheelock, a resident of Elephant Butte, NM for 17 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 1989 after a long illness. Pat's family includes her four children, David Neal Wheelock Jr., wife, Linda, Marian Maestas, Judy Baca, husband, Steve, Russell Wheelock, fiance, Christine Lane; grandchildren, David and Nichole Wheelock, Amanda and Jessica Maestas, Francesca Baca, Bryce Wheelock and Jordan Lane; brother, Bill Ringle; sisters, Imagene Potter and Marilyn Lake; niece and nephews, Sharon Gallegos, Stuart and Wayne Blakely and former husband, David Wheelock Sr. Pat's family would like to thank all of her friends that added such joy and love to Pat's last few years; her very special friends, Hazel McDermott, Paul and Jeanette Hodges, Nell McClung and all of the home health care nurses in Elephant Butte.
