Aragon -- Beatrice (Bea) Aragon, 73, a resident of Belen, passed away in her home after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, April 16, 1998. Bea was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart League, and the Legion of Mary. A well-known area artist, Bea was also a member of the Belen Art League. She was a beautiful mother of eight children. Her family was the center of her life and she took great pride and joy in her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her sparkling personality captured everyone who knew her. Her virtuous and compassionate character touched her family deeply and left them with a beautiful legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Trinnie Sanchez. Bea is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph S. Aragon of the family home in Belen; her children, Anna Espinoza and husband, Richard of Clovis, NM, Kenny of Belen, Robert and wife, Sharon of Albuquerque, Rick of Los Chavez, Lorraine Silva and husband, Andres of Deming, NM, Marty and wife, Yvonne of Grants, NM, Susan Crosby and Darleen Aragon, both of Belen. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Bea was an artist who loved to paint angels. She is now with them. Viewing will be held on Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kirk and Mauri Wilson, Christopher and Melissa Crosby, Phil Chavez, Andres Silva and Richard Espinoza. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Arneal -- Gordon Francis Arneal died April 15, 1998, at his home in Albuquerque of lung cancer and emphysema caused by years of smoking. He was born February 19, 1927 in Anaheim, California; the son of Francis C. and Amanda Frahm Arneal. He graduated from Ventura High School in California. He served in the Army in WWII and was enroute to the Philippines when the War ended. On the G.I. Bill he attended the U. of CA at Santa Barbara, but graduated from the University of Colorado in 1950. After college he worked as an accountant in Denver and Goodland, KS before opening his own accounting office in Buffalo, WY. He went to work for Husky Oil Company in Cody, WY in 1954 and moved to their subsidiary, Gates City Steel in Omaha, NE in 1963. The Arneals moved to Albuquerque in 1967, where he worked first for Peat, Marwick and Mitchell, and then for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, serving as comptroller and financial vice president at the time of his retirement in 1980. Since retirement, he enjoyed playing golf at Tanoan Country Club. He was a past member of the Elks Clubs of Sheridan and Cody, WY and Albuquerque. He was a member for many years of the Masonic Lodge of Cody, WY. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elise Case Arneal and their four daughters, four sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren, Lee and Tom Baker and daughter, Mary of Tijeras; Susan and Tom Blackston of Albuquerque and son, Chris Day of Edmond, OK; Mary and Steve O'Shea and children, Sean, Erin and Jack of Troy, NY; and Ginny and Richard Kelly and daughters, Kristin and Taylor of Walpole, MA. Also brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Ann Case of St. Louis, MO; Mary and Fred Dekker of Hopland, CA; a niece and six nephews, one of whom is Herb Case of Albuquerque. Services will be held Monday, April 20, 10:00 a.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Chapel, located at 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to one of Gordon's favorite charities, New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, The Salvation Army, or The Special Olympics.

Chavez -- Mr. Manuel L. Chavez, age 83, died Thursday. He is survived by his wife, Lena Chavez; daughters, Stella Chavez and Vivian Chavez; brother, Rogelio Chavez and wife, Rosita; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Chavez was a veteran of World War II and was also a member of San Jose Catholic Church and the DAV Chapter 3. Funeral services for Mr. Chavez will be held Monday at San Jose Catholic Church, where Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Lueras, Martin Lopez, Jimmy Horton, Raymond Horton, Rosendo Chavez and Josey Godinez. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at San Jose Catholic Church. Elliott -- Flossie M. Elliott, 101. God's loving arms welcomed and embraced Flossie Muriel Elliott on Wednesday, April 8, 1998. Born in Cincinnati, IA on December 6, 1896, Flossie lived 101 remarkable and inspirational years. She was the third child of seven, the daughter of William and Ella Organ. The Organ family moved to Las Vegas, NM in 1917 and Flossie joined the family in 1919. She taught school in Tecelote, NM and was a waitress in Las Vegas. Married to Dixie Elliott, an excellent ranch hand, Flossie was a ranch cook for several ranches in New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. Flossie had two loving and caring children, Clifford W. Elliott and V. Fern Elliott. The Elliott's homesteaded on Rowe Mesa (Rincona) in the 1920's. She and Dixie moved to Estancia in 1947 where she lived until 1991. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Flossie was a devout Christian and very active in church functions. Serving the Lord and keeping active were her keys to her longevity. A superb cook, Flossie loved to garden and loved the ranch and country life. Flossie worked in the 1950's and 1960's as an assistant with Dr. James H. Wiggins, the town physician and as a cafeteria cook for the Estancia Schools. She loved children and babysat many Estancia youths. Flossie was a resident of Paloma Blanca Nursing and Rehabilitative Center for seven years remaining active in her daily ventures until a stroke occurrence on February 4, 1998. Her courage, strength, humor and faith have inspired many in her declining health. Throughout her long life, she always maintained her humor, good will and spiritual guidance to enrich her life, and by that, influencing those of her many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Virgil, Glen and Clifford Organ; sister, Fern Gray, Blanche Scott, and Erma Barton; along with her son, Clifford Elliott; daughter, Fern Stuart; and grandson, Dan Stuart. Now Flossie has reunited with the many relatives and friends that have gone before her. Survivors include her granddaughter, Nancy Stuart and son-in-law, Charles Stuart of Albuquerque; great-grandsons, Joshua Stuart of Seattle, WA, and Jonathan Stuart of Lemon Grove, CA; cousin, Faye Kelly of Unionville, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Special friends, Ralph and Bernadine Dial, DeeDee and Jim Young of Estancia, and Rachel Palmer of Albuquerque also survive Flossie. She had many close friends in Estancia and at Paloma Blanca, both residents and staff alike. An inspiration to all the lives she's touched, Flossie will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank all the kindnesses and support from Paloma Blanca and Sandia Hospice. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services celebrating Flossie Elliott will be held Saturday, April 18, 10:00 a.m., at Estancia United Methodist Church, 600 Williams, Estancia, with Pastor Dave Blackwell officiating. Gross -- Robyn I. Gross came into this world August 19, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan and left this world peacefully after an extended illness April 14, 1998. She moved to Albuquerque in 1979 with her husband. Robyn is survived by her husband, favorite person, and friend, Dr. Stuart E. Gross of Albuquerque; mother, Annabell Romanelli of Florida; father, Tom Buck of Georgia; sisters, Patricia and Kathy; and brother, Bob Buck, all of Georgia. Robyn was loved and cherished by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Robyn loved her job and helped thousands of people over her 16 years at BK's Health Pantry. Memorial service will be at her home, 1024 Sixth St. NW, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 1998. Everyone that knew her is welcomed. Gutierrez -- Chris P. Gutierrez, 38, a lifelong resident of Sedillo, NM, passed away as a result of an automobile accident, Thursday, April 16, 1998. He was born on May 29, 1959 to Emilio and Clarita Gutierrez. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Anita of Carnuel, NM; children, Olivia and Christopher Jr.; his mother, Clarita Gutierrez of Sedillo, NM; five brothers, Beltran and wife, Viola of Houston, TX, Joe R. and wife, Priscilla of Albuquerque, Alfonso and wife, Michelle of Denver, CO, Clarence and wife, Mary of Albuquerque, and Eustacio of Sedillo, NM; five sisters, Tillie Garcia and husband, Bert of Tijeras, NM, Armelia Alexander and husband, Leon of Eager, AZ, Fabiola Chapman and husband, Michael of Rio Rancho, Marie Gutierrez of Albuquerque, and Frances Gutierrez of Sedillo, NM. Gutierrez -- Rebecca Trujillo Gutierrez, a resident of Magdalena, N.M. passed away Wednesday, April 15th at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Magdalena on February 16, 1911 to Pablo Trujillo and Eduuijen Lopez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eulalio in 1993, son, Andres in 1994, and daughter-in-law, Virgina Gutierrez in 1997. She is also survived by seven sons and four daughters, Ben and Sandra, S.E."Jr." and Lucille, Jimmie and Corine, Pat, Juan and Beth, Ernest and Phyllis, Ramon and Elsie, Adela, Margie and Valentin, Alicia and Ray, Isabel and Benny. Also surviving are two sisters, Elena Gambel and Inez Gutierrez and one brother, Jose Trujillo. She was a caring and loving grandmother to 46 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 17th at St. Magdalena. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Domingo Gumpal, Celebrant. Johnson -- ElVeda Johnson, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. A.G. Johnson. Together they dedicated their entire lives to serving the Lord. She enjoyed and had a special talent for working with children. Her life was a shining example of undaunted faith in God and the unselfish desire to help others. Montano -- Mrs. Cipriana G. Montano, age 73, died Thursday. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rumaldo S. Montano; sons, Leroy A. (Red) Montano and wife, Tracey, Ernest J. Mrs. Montano was a very loving wife and loyal mother. She was also a longtime member of St. Edwins Catholic Church. O'brien -- Mamie"Tutu" M. O'Brien, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 14 years, died on Monday, April 13, 1998. She is survived by her step-sons, Michael R. O'Brien of Florida and James Kelly of Colorado; step-daughters, Erin L. Encinias and Bridgett A. Woods, both of Texas; son, Michael A. Lucas of Georgia; granddaughters, Leslie L. Brown of Oklahoma and Leigh A. Naquin of Albuquerque; grandson, Todd C. Gumm of Albuquerque; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. O'Brien; and a daughter, Marilyn Ann Flowers. Mrs. O'Brien was a member of John XXIII Catholic Community, where she served as a volunteer and was a former president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Reeves -- Howard Reeves, 81, a resident of Belen, NM, died on Wednesday, April 15, 1998 at a local hospital. Mr. Reeves is survived by his son, Charles R. Reeves and wife, Patty of Belen, NM, son, Ronald G. Reeves and wife, Faye of Albuquerque; sister, Louise Gordanier of Magdalena, NM; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He served with the Company K 194th Glider Infantry during WWII from 1941 to 1945. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 18, 1998. An additional memorial service will be held at Belen Christian Church, time and date are to be announced. Sanchez -- Emma Sanchez, 70, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 16, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Max Sanchez; sister, Sally Chavez and husband, Reymundo; son, Louis Sanchez and wife, Tillie; daughters, Judy Sanchez, Regina Sanchez, Maria Sanchez, Kathy Sanchez Aldaz and husband, Gilbert, Lorraine Sanchez, M.D. and husband, Joe Gamble, and Bridget Ortega and husband, Aaron, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jodie, Poppy, Jesse, Jessica R., Benjamin, Vanessa, Adam, Jessica A. Matthew, Max, Sarah, Nicolas, Jason, and Emily; great-grandchild, Rozee Jade; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Selsa; daughter, Teresa Yvonne; grandson, Justin; and grandparents, Moises and Anita. Mrs. Sanchez was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and she was loved by all who knew her. She married Max Sanchez in 1949, and throughout their 49 years of marriage they showed true devotion to each other and proudly and lovingly raised seven children. Max and Emma shared their enthusiasm for life by traveling and enjoying new and wonderful experiences. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE. Sigala -- Mrs. Vitalia L. Sigala, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 17, 1998. Mrs. Sigala is survived by two daughters, Mary Garcia and husband, David of Albuquerque, Isabel Plant of Moriarty; two sons, Carlos Sigala and wife, Esabel of Moriarty, and Tony Sigala and wife, Brenda of Albuquerque; two sisters, Bennie Lopez of Albuquerque and Vera Bachichas of Washington; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Mrs. Sigala was preceded in death by her husband, Estanislado Sigala in 1974. Mrs. Sigala was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Brother Lopez, Celebrant. A second visitation will be Sunday afternoon after 6:30 p.m. in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmen Church in Moriarty, NM, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Monday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Father Johnny Chavez, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlos Sigala, Mark Garcia, Tony Benavidez, Paul Coy, Daniel Sanchez and Ronnie Valdez. Honorary pallbearers will be David Garcia Jr. and Adan Sigala. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, in charge of arrangements.
