Jones -- Richard L. Jones, 52, passed away May 20, 2001 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Richard Lee Jones was born September 14, 1948 in Carlsbad to Albert Lee and Mildred Janice Barrett Jones. He was raised and educated in Carlsbad, graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1966. Richard was a plumber by trade and owned J&J Mechanical. For the last five years, he has been the Mechanical Inspector for the State of New Mexico. Richard met and married Patricia Rose Bailey in Carlsbad on February 13, 1970. He loved to restore and fly airplanes of all types and belonged to the E.A.A., Experimental Aircraft Assoc. He volunteered his time to Noah's Ark Animal Refuge and was a member of the Cancer Support Group. His father, Albert Jones precede him in death April 1971. Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones of the family home; son, Ricky Lee and wife, Roxanne Jones of Moriarty; mother, Mildred Allen of Carlsbad; sisters, Shirley Cottingham and husband, Hal of Carlsbad and Barbara Pyle and husband, Pat of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Cecelia and Aurelia Jones of Moriarty; nephews, Patrick Pyle of Kansas and Brant Cottingham of Carlsbad. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at the West Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dirk Roberson of Golden Services Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at the Carlsbad Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Brazeal, Danny Hunter, Gerald Cass, Henry Gomez, Everett Wheeler, Ralph Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers will be all other friends. Memorials can be made to Noah's Ark Animal Refuge Inc. 3417 Ferguson Road, Carlsbad, NM 88220. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
