Jones -- June Fischer Jones, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, died Sunday, May 20, 2001. June was born on June 10, 1909 in Vincennes, IN. She was raised in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Harris Teachers College. She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Olson and husband, John of Albuquerque; sons, Gordon Jones and wife, Margaret of Antioch, TN and Robert Jones and wife, Nancee of Starkville, TN; grandchildren, Gwyneth Olson of San Mateo, CA, Paul Olson and wife, Sandra Fortier of Grand Island, NE, Susan Jones-Szabo and husband Gary of Berkeley, CA, Davy Jones of Antioch, TN, Griffith Jones, Christopher Jones and Sarah Jones, all of Starkville, MS; great-grandchildren, Trefor and Sabrina Szabo of Berkeley, CA; and many loving family and friends. Her husband, Grant R. Jones preceded her in death in 1980. After moving to New Mexico from Wisconsin in 1949, June worked in libraries in Clovis and Santa Fe. In Albuquerque she belonged to the Retired Officers Wives Club, bridge club and widows group. June was an associate member for 56 years of the Community of St. Mary in Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Manor Care Heights, the staff of Vista Care Hospice and the staff of Haven Care for all the care and love they gave June and support given to her family. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2001 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial Eucharist services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 28, 2001 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd, NE with The Rev. Carole McGowan, officiating. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church. Friends may visit on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 for the Philippine Ministry.
