Kappas -- Penelope Kappas, 96 1/ 2, a resident of Albuquerque for over 40 years and New Mexico for 70 years, died Saturday, July 7, 2001. She is survived by her son, Jerry Kappas of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Kappas in 1966. Penelope came to Raton, NM from New York City around 1930 to visit a cousin and stayed. She was a homemaker. Penelope was a kind person and a friend to everyone. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society for many years. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High Street, with Father Mario Giannopoulos officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Building Fund, 308 High Street, 87102.
