Towne -- John "Matt" Towne, age 45, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday October 21, 2001. He is survived by his son, James Towne; father, John Towne and wife, Linda of Albuquerque; mother, Laura Embry of Artesia; sisters, Janet Berry and husband, David of Albuquerque, Susan Thompson of Colorado; brothers, Jeffrey Towne and wife, Jennifer of Albuquerque, Jason Towne of Albuquerque, Bradley Todd and wife, Denise of Artesia, Daniel Todd and wife, Debra of Texas; grandmother, Flora L. Williams of Las Cruces; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Matt served his country in the Vietnam War. He also worked in the substance abuse program at the Veterans Hospital. Throughout his life, Matt took pride in helping others; he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held at Aspen Funeral Alternatives Chapel, 1935 Juan Tabo NE, on Friday, October 26, 2001 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements by Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo NE (323-9000). www.aspenfuneral.com
