Jimerson -- Virginia (Odle) Jimerson, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died Monday, October 8, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Vona Lewis of Albuquerque; sons, Roy Moore of Reserve, NM and James Odle and wife, Amelda of Tatum, NM; two nieces; one nephew; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Odle; daughters, Virginia"Ginger" Thoma and Connie Jo Brady; sisters, Lorena O'Conner and Hallie Mae Pearson; grandson, Roy (Butch) Moore; and great grandsons, Justin Kitchens and Jared Odle. Virginia was born October 6, 1910 in a post office in Texas and came to New Mexico in a covered wagon. In the early 1930's, Virginia was baptized in a dirt tank in Bronco, TX on the New Mexico/Texas State line. She homesteaded in Lea County and lived in a dugout. Virginia was a 4-H Club leader and a Sunday school teacher. The Lea County Extension Service gave her a pressure cooker, if she would and she did, teach others in the community how to use the cooker to can food. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. Because of her health, she had not been able to attend. She played"42 Dominos" and Pinochle. Virginia had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She could grow everything. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved watching football. Her favorite teams were the Packers and the Cowboys. A special thanks to the staff at Manzano del Sol for the love and care they gave her. Services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2001, 2:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Mark Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, John Thoma, Mike Thoma, Tim Odle, Dennis Zacharias, Eddie Moore, and Roy Lee Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Thoma, Bill Collier, Jr., Carlos Osuna, Marvin Kettle, Charlie Cobb, and Damon Pearson. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, one hour prior to service.
