Waters -- Mozelle Patty Waters, 89, of Monte Vista, CO died at Mountain Meadows Nursing Center on Tuesday, November 6, 2001. She was born on September 27, 1912 in Comanche, OK to Robert and Tressa (Hawhee) Patty. After graduating from Oklahoma City Women's College, she began teaching school in Ponca City, OK and then in Dunca, OK. Later, she moved to Albuquerque and taught at Stronghurst Elementary School, then she became librarian at Jefferson Jr. High and worked there 28 years until retiring in 1977. Mozelle loved learning and education. She was a prolific reader. Along with this, she loved traveling and seeing places she had read about in books. She had traveled all over Europe, Australia, Japan, Canada, Central and South America, as well as parts of Asia. She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Iota and was National President from 1958-1960. Her sisters in this sorority were a very special part of her life. Mozelle is survived by her son, RP Waters and his wife, Peggy of Monte Vista, CO; and grandsons, Brian (Sheree) Schwartz of Albuquerque, and Dallin Waters of Monte Vista, CO. Services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Monte Vista, CO. Interment will be at Del Norte Cemetery. Arrangements made by Strohmayer's Funeral Home.
