Chavez -- Richard Dean Chavez, 41, born on February 8, 1960 in Vaughn, NM was called to the Lord on April 7, 2001. Richard was the youngest of four children. He is survived by his parents, Dennis C. and Sally F. Chavez; his brother, Dennis and wife, Kathie and their daughters, Erica and Amanda; his two sisters, Sylvia and husband, Roosevelt and their children, Shannon, Carlo and Kristina; Denise and husband, Pedro and their daughter, Ashlee; his Godparents, Lou and Etta Chavez and Ted Chavez; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Juan B. and Gregorita S. Flores and Esequiel and Flora Chavez. Richard was a member of the Catholic Church Visitation wasTuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Fr. D'Arco Hall at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. A Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Fr. D'Arco Hall at St. Thomas Aquias Church by his mother, Mrs. Sally F. Chavez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, by Father Scott Mansfield, the family will be receiving friends after 12:30 p.m. Interment of ashes will follow in the Vista Verde Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edwin Chavez, Gary Chavez, Shaun Garcia, Eddie Mata, Jimmy Storey and Nick Griego. Honorary Pallbearers will be his two Godchildren, Erica Wells Chavez and Gabriel Chavez, all his beloved cousins and his very special friends, Cameron Eghlime, Dr. Shabin Jonsson, Ulrich Kaufhold, Ernie Martinez, Tim Padilla and Anthony Tafoya.
