Madrid -- Phyllis (Filia) Tafoya went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2001. Born In Santa Fe , NM on January 4, 1923. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years; Charlie. Her children Ernest Madrid, Priscilla Madrid, James Madrid and wife Hilda, Rosella Montoya and husband Max, Connie Romero and husband John. She is survived by 10 grandchildren Mark Madrid and wife Michele, Matthew Madrid and wife Vangie, Patrick Madrid, Teresa Madrid, Ernie Madrid, Gloria Borman and husband Eric, Jeanette Madrid, Joseph Montoya, Juan Brito and Elizabeth Brito, and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers Richard Tafoya and wife Flora, Edward Tafoya, Pablo Tafoya and wife Adelina; Five sisters, Sophie Barela, Helen Vigil and husband Louie, Ida Leyba, Lucy Romero and husband Tony, Mollie Garcia and husband Joe, and sister-in-law Mollie Lovato. Ms Madrid was a current member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Albuquerque, NM and formally a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Santa Fe, NM. She was a member of La Union Protectiva de Santa Fe. She was employed by the State Health and human Services in Santa Fe , NM from 1968-1973. Prior to that she was involved in working with the City of Santa Fe Model City projects. Visitations will be Monday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Stover Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Monday night at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National cemetery. Pallbearers Mark Madrid, Matthew Madrid, Patrick Madrid, Juan Brito, Joseph Montoya, and Ernie Madrid. Funeral Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., SW, 243-5222.
