Sanchez -- Carolyn "Kay" Sanchez, 41, a life long resident of Belen, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2001. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Carolyn was a 1978 Belen High School graduate who went on to the University of Albuquerque to pursue a nursing career. She worked for Presbyterian Hospital for seven years. She was also a volunteer worker for the Casa Manzano Counciling, helping kids. Carolyn was an avid bowler for the Hub City Bowling League, bowling for Ray's Fire Extinguisher team for over nineteen years. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Albert in 1946 and Anthony in 1992. Carolyn is survived by her parents, Gregorio "Greg" and Ida Sanchez; six siblings, Mary and her husband, Pete Chavez of Los Lunas, Raymond and his wife, Shirley of Los Trujillos, Yemalda and her husband, Frank of Mesa, Arizona, Debbie and her husband, John Rael of Los Trujillos, Ivy and her husband, Ernest Lee of Belen, and Cindy Sanchez of Jarales. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews whom she considered her children, Patty Salazar, Delbert and Greg Chavez, Jeon, Gwen, and Jamie Sanchez, Frankie III, Aaron and Eric Lopez, Patrick, and Joylynn Rael, Judith and Anthony Perea, and Selena Antonio, she is also survived by her many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her two very dear and close friends, Carmen Silva and Patsy Garley. A Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 31 at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 1, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Interment following.
