Hubbart -- Gerald W. Hubbart, 70, a resident of Albuquerque for more than forty years, passed away December 11, 2000 of cancer complications. He is survived by two sons, Wes Hubbart of Albuquerque, NM and Glenn Hubbart and his wife, Suzanne of Austin, TX; daughter, Lisa Bruner and her husband, Ron of Hamilton, OH; brother, Ken Hubbart of Incline Village, NV; four grandchildren. Mr. Hubbart went to school at Hingham MA High School, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, were he was a member of Beta Theta Pi, and UNM. He served as the Asst. Dean of men at UNM. He worked in the mining industry in Grants, Socorro County and in Arizona until the late 60's. Mr. Hubbart was an early advocate of programmed learning (teaching machine industry) which was later purchased by McGraw-Hill. He enjoyed part-time teaching at UNM and at the University of Albuquerque. Mr. Hubbart was a real-estate broker and a former member of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves and in the Air Force Reserves COSI. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Child Parish in Tijeras, NM on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 10:00 a.m., with Father John Carney officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Place NE, Ste. 120 Albuquerque, NM 87110.
