Gallegos1 -- Carlos P. Gallegos, 74, a resident of Edgewood, NM since April 1993, and formerly of La Palma, CA, passed away Friday, January 5, 2001 at home with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born August 13, 1926, to Reymundo and Ida DiLorenzo Gallegos in Las Vegas, NM. On July 26, 1948, in Las Vegas, NM he married Clara Salazar. She survives him at home. He attended Immaculate Conception High School before entering the US. Navy. Carlos served his country during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the United Auto Workers Union for many years. He was employed for 30 years at the General Motors Corporation plant in South Gate, CA, as a final inspector. Carlos was also very active in his church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society until 1999. Mr. Gallegos is survived by his wife, Clara Gallegos of Edgewood; one daughter, Carla Dee Gallegos of Edgewood; one brother, Arthur R. Gallegos and wife, Cecilia of Las Vegas; two sisters, Fabiola Lita Mingo and husband, Louis of Albuquerque and Margaret Hirsch and husband, Donald of Joliet, IL; and five grandchildren, Paul Gutknecht, Lance Elliot, Charles Roth, Denise Gallegos, Rachel Gallegos and Ronda Gallegos. His parents and two sons, preceded him in death. Deacon Jose Escandon recited a Rosary on Sunday, January 7, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood, with the Holy Child Church Choir providing the music and conducted by Cayetano Herrera, Choir Director. On Monday, January 8, 2001, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mass was concelebrated by Father Anthony L. Martinez, Father John F. Carney and Father John Candido Rodriguez, assisted by Deacon James A. Baca. Pallbearers were Clarence Gallegos, Paul Gutknecht, Gene Gajewski, Harley Hooten, Darby Miera, Dennis Milinazzo and C.E. (Chuck) Ring. Burial followed in the Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty.
